문제중심학습이 간호학생의 비판적 사고, 메타인지 및 문제해결과정에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of PBL(Problem-Based Learning) on the Metacognition, Critical Thinking, and Problem Solving Process of Nursing Students)

  • Purpose: This investigation examined the effect of PBL on the meta-cognition, critical thinking, and problem solving process. Method: The research design was pre-posttest with a none qui valent control group design. Scenarios for PBL sessions were developed on the basis of textbooks and patients' charts and tested for content validity. Seventy six nursing students who took a 'Nursing Process' course from two nursing schools participated in the experimental group and control group. The experimental group performed PBL during the semester. Meta-cognition and problem solving processes were assessed by questionnaires which were developed using pedagogics. Critical thinking was measured by the CCTST(California Critical Thinking Skill Test) Form 2000. The data was analyzed by repeated measure (pretest-posttest) MANOVA, and correlation analysis. Result: PBL improved the participants' meta-cognition and problem solving process but not critical thinking. The relationship between meta-cognition and the problem solving process was supported but the relationship between critical thinking and problem solving was not supported. Conclusion: These results suggest that PBL has a positive effect on nursing students' educational outcomes. To improve the problem solving ability of nursing students, PBL should be applied to more subjects in the nursing curriculum.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the change of critical thinking disposition and problem solving process in students who experienced problem-based learning. Method: This research design was one group pre-post test design. Twenty-five nursing students who participated in ‘'Nursing Process' course with two PBL packages for a semester in 2004 were the subjects of this study. The data were analyzed by repeated measures of ANOVA, and content analysis. Result: The problem defining in problem solving process was improved significantly, but there was no significant difference in the critical thinking disposition. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that PBL has a positive effect on nursing students' problem solving process, But for a more significant effect on a continuous base for critical thinking of nursing students, faculties should use web based and simulation-based education for self directed learning along with clinical situation-based scenarios.

문화 반영적 융합교육(STEM) 주제 상황에서 미국 토착민 학생들의 문제 해결 성향에 대한 탐색 (Exploring American Indian Students' Problem-Solving Propensity in the Context of Culturally Relevant STEM Topics)

  • 본 연구는 북미 토착민인 인디언 학생들을 대상으로 설계된 문화 반영적 융합교육(STEM)을 이용한 문제해결 수업을 보여준다. 이 수업은 악기상을 고려한 Shelter Design 또는 피난처 설계에 관한 것이었다. 이 수업은 인디언 학생들을 대상으로 6일간 여름방학캠프 프로그램으로 적용되었으며 모든 수업은 인디언 보호구역에 있는 학교에서 실시되었다. 본 연구를 위한 데이터로는 학생들의 Shelter Design 그림, 그림에 대한 부연 설명, 그리고 학생용 학습지였다. 데이터는 질적 분석 방법에 의해 분석되었다. 본 연구의 결과 학생들은 문화 반영적(STEM) 수업 후 STEM 지식을 더 많이 습득하였으며, Shelter Design활동을 하는 동안 학생들의 문화적 지식과 일상생활 경험 등을 활용하여 문제를 해결하는 것으로 드러났다.

유추적 사고에 의한 디자인 문제해결의 유형 - 연상된 단어와 스케치 분석을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Types of Design Problem Solving by Analogical Thinking - Focused on the Analysis of Associated Words and Sketch -)

  • Analogy in problem solving is similarity-based reasoning facilitated by verbal and visual operation. This similarity-based reasoning generally supports initial phase of idea search. Therefore, this study intends to infer the types of problem solving by tracing the analogy use of verbal and visual representation through a experimental research. According to the result of this research, the types of problem solving by analogy are classified into 'evolving', 'divergent', and 'poor conversion' type. Firstly, 'evolving type' is distinguished between 'combination type' associated different contents to develope a new design and 'transformation type' associated similar words and sketches to be continuously revised and developed. In these types usually structural analogy rather than surface analogy is used. Secondly, in 'divergent type' associated words or sketches are individually represented, and among them one design solution is selected. In this type usually surface analogy is used. Thirdly, in 'poor conversion type' interaction between verbal representation and visual representation does not go on smoothly, and the generation of idea is poor. In here surface analogy is mostly used. These findings could form the basis of skill development of idea generation and conversion in design education.

디자인씽킹을 활용한 공학제품 설계수업에서의 창의적 문제해결 경험 연구 (An Study on Creative Problem Solving Experiences in Engineering Production Design Class Using Design Thinking)

  • 본 연구는 디자인씽킹을 활용한 수업에서의 창의적 문제해결 경험을 살펴보기 위해 서울의 A대학에서 2018년 2학기 정규수업으로 개설된 공학제품 설계 수업에 등록한 1학년 학생 37명(남 27명, 여 10명)을 대상으로 실시되었다. 본 연구에서 창의적 문제해결력은 창의적 성향과 문제해결력으로 나누어 살펴보았으며, Hotelling's T-square test와 t-test를 통해 사전-사후의 창의적 문제해결력 차이를 살펴본 결과, 창의적 성향 중 인내와 열정, 유머, 호기심, 진취적 성향이, 문제해결력 중 문제해결 행동이 유의미하게 증가된 것으로 나타났다. 이어, 성찰일지를 통해 창의적 문제해결의 과정을 살펴본 결과, 디자인씽킹의 공감하기와 프로토타입 및 테스트 단계에서는 문제해결을 위한 활동이 보다 많이 나타나고, 정의하기/발상하기와 아이디어 내기 단계에서는 창의적 활동이 보다 많이 나타나는 것을 확인해 볼 수 있었다. 본 연구의 결과는 디자인씽킹을 통해 창의적 문제해결력이 항상될 수 있음을 나타내주며, 효과적인 디자인씽킹 활용 수업을 위한 교수적 지원이 뒷받침되어야 함을 시사해 준다.

캡스톤디자인 프로그램이 간호학생의 창의적리더십, 문제해결능력, 비판적사고 성향에 미치는 효과 (Effects of Capstone Design Program on Creative Leadership, Problem Solving Ability and Critical Thinking)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 간호학생에게 캡스톤디자인 프로그램을 적용하여 창의적리더십, 문제해결능력, 비판적사고 성향에 미치는 효과를 파악하고자 시도되었다. 연구 대상자는 P시 U 대학교 간호 캡스톤디자인 교과목을 수강한 18명 실험군과 K 대학교 20명을 대조군으로 선정하였다. 자료는 자가보고식 설문지를 이용하여 간호 캡스톤디자인 수업 전 후에 수집되었다. 연구결과 창의적리더십, 문제해결능력, 비판적사고 성향이 통계적으로 유의하게 향상된 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 창의적리더십, 문제해결능력, 비판적 사고성향 에는 양의 상관관계가 나타나 창의적리더십이 높아지면 문제해결능력과 비판적 사고 성향이 향상되는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구를 바탕으로 캡스톤디자인 교육 실시 후 창의적리더십, 문제해결능력과 비판적사고 성향 등을 반복적으로 조사하여 이를 간호교육의 다양한 교수학습방법으로 활용할 것을 제언한다.

비판(-창의)적 사고의 문제 해결 과정과 기량을 활용한 창의 공학 설계 교육 (Creative Engineering Design Education Utilizing the Problem-solving Process and Skills of Critico(-Creative) Thinking)

  • ABEEK recommends convergent engineering projects to nurture creative problem-solving ability for 1st year engineering students through 'Creative Engineering Design' course. However, 1st year engineering students, who have not yet studied core subjects in engineering, have difficulties understanding and coping with the challenges posed by the engineering-related projects. For this reason, the educational objectives of this course are usually frustrating to achieve by the instructor. In this paper, by using the problem-solving process and skills of critico(-creative) thinking, we prepare guidelines for creative engineering design education that allow 1st-year students to effectively participate in engineering projects without a complete understanding of the design process which is to be studied. Also, we present a case study that applies the guidelines to an on-going creative engineering design course and discusses the outcomes by showing student-generated works. The results showed that the intuitive content and everyday expression of critico(-creative) thinking education enabled the instructor to effectively guide their students through the requirements of engineering projects without relying on advanced engineering design methods, and that the application of these guidelines also helped improve students' communication skills, including presentation. We show that the guidelines for creative engineering design education utilizing the problem-solving process and skills of critico(-creative) thinking is not only contributing to achieving the educational objectives of the creative engineering design course but can also be an educational paradigm that incorporates critico(-creative) thinking education into engineering education.

건축디자인과정에서 문제해결의 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the characteristic of problem solving process in the architectural design process)

  • In creative design, it is necessary to understand the characteristic of architectural design. In the world of design problem, a distinction can be made between those that are well-defined and those that are ill-defined. Well-defined problems are those for which the ends or goal, are already prescribed and apparent, their solution requires the provision of appropriate means. For ill-defined problems, on the other hand, both the ends and the means of solution are unknown at the outset of the problem solving exercise, at least in their entirety. Most of design problems is ill-defined, which is unknown at the beginning of the problem solving exercise. In order to solve the design problem, Designers take advantage of the search methods of problem space, such as global-search-methods(depth-first-methods, breath-first-methods), local-search-methods(generate and test, heuristics, hill-climbing, reasoning) and visual thinking, which is represented through sketching. Sketching is a real part of design reasoning and it does so through a special kind of visual imagery. Also in the design problem solving it have been an important means of problem exploration and solution generation. By sketching, they represent images held in the mind as well as makes graphic images which help generate mental images of entity that is being designed. The search methods of problem space and a visual thinking have been crucially considered in the architectural design. The purpose of this paper is to explore the property of design by means of the pre-existed-experiment data and literature research. The findings will help design the architectural design for more creative results.

An Investigation of Cognitive-Metacognitive Characteristics in Problem Solving Behavior

  • This paper reports an investigation of problem solving activities of students at university level students. The study focused on the cognitive-metacognitive and affective activities appeared in problem solving process. The cognitive-metacognitive framework was used to analyzed and categorize the written response and free response of interviews probing the students\\` cognitive-metacognitive activities. Affective factors were assessed by administering the problem solving survey (Carlson, The emergence of students\\` problem solving behavior, 1999). This study provide an insight for the design of problem solving instruction by identifying cognitive, metacognitive and affective characteristics of the students\\` problem solving behaviors. The results report that the metacognitive factor were significantly related to problem solving performance interacting with both cognitive and affective factors.

A Study on the Development and Evaluation of a Collaborative Problem-Solving Learning Model for Nursing Students

  • This study developed and evaluated a learning model to improve collaborative problem-solving skills for nursing students taking physiology courses. This one-group pretest-posttest design used the jigsaw cooperative learning method on 30 nursing students from one local university. We analyzed the effect of a cooperative problem- solving learning model using SPSS 21.0 to compare changes in the students' collaborative self-efficacy, problem-solving abilities, and team-member exchange. As a result, the participants showed significant increases in collaborative self-efficacy, problem-solving ability, and team-member exchange after experiencing cooperative problem- solving learning model. Therefore, we will help nursing students improve their communication skills by enhancing their collaborative self-efficacy and help them solve problems effectively in conflict situations.
