  • This paper reflects on the ergonomical criteria for a humane working atmosphere in industrial buildings while respecting and paying close attention to the physical, mental, and stressful demands of the work environment. It describes effective construction codes and standards of practice and their importance in ensuring a safe environment for working people. Also addressed are the objectives for a productive work environment and its organization. The paper considers the significance of a proper working environment, the use of dangerous working materials, the use of proper ventilation, climate, and lighting to ensure that the productivity of the enterprise is met with common goals shared between employer and employee. The connection between the legal foundation and the design of industrial construction is the focus of this paper. It shows that the planning and executive persons are obliged to observe the relevant construction laws and regulations including standards and codes of practice. Additionally discussed are the possible solutions and consequences for development in the productional, constructional, and ergonomical fields of design.

  • Construction industry has been participated in the effort for the reduction of environmental pollution such as introduction of green building certification, enactment of environment related regulation. However these efforts are focused on the design and maintenance phases of entire life cycle, construction phase that can occur intensive environmental impact in a short period is insufficient. Therefore this study aim to derive environmental management factors in construction phase and assess them using reliability analysis and factor analysis. As a results, the 20 factors was classified into 4 superordinate such as 'plan and supervision', 'environmental factor management', 'licensing management', 'surrounding environment management'.Based on result of this study, further study should be developed the checklist for effective environmental management in construction phase.

Finite Element Analysis of Carbon Fiber Composite Sandwich Panels Subjected to Wind Debris Impacts

  • Hurricanes and tornadoes are the most destructive natural disasters in some central and southern states. Thus, storm shelters, which can provide emergency protections for low-rise building residents, are becoming popular nowadays. Both FEMA and ICC have published a series of manuals on storm shelter design. However, the authors found that the materials for related products in the market are heavyweight and hard to deliver and install; renovations are necessary. The authors' previous studies found that lightweight and high-performance composite materials can withstand extreme wind pressure, but some building codes are designated in wind-borne debris areas. In these areas, wind debris can reach greater than 100 mph speed. In addition, the impact damage on the composite materials is an increasing safety issue in many engineering fields; some can cause catastrophic results. Therefore, studying composite structures subjected to wind debris impact is essential. The finite element models are set up using the software Abaqus 2.0 to conduct the simulations to observe the impact resistance behavior of the carbon fiber composite sandwich panels. The selected wood debris models meet the FEMA requirements. The outcome of this study is then employed in future lab tests and compared with other material models.

  • With the recent global trends in environmental preservation, the importance of sustainable construction is being highlighted in Korea. In particular, the trend is being discussed about life cycle of the apartment houses in various aspects. However the Korean construction market and housing policy have been increasingly focusing on supplier. Structures become progressively obsolete after a certain period, but their durability can be extended with proper maintenance management. Accordingly, if maintenance management on the structures is made efficiently, waste of construction energy and damage to the environment and economic loss due to early demolition and reconstruction can be effectively prevented.   • 지난 10년간 모든 산업의 재해율이 꾸준히 감소하고 있는 반면 건설업의 재해율은 증가 추세에 있어 개선이 시급한 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 국내 디자인 안전성 검토 시스템을 해외 사례와 비교 분석하여 국내 디자인 안전성 검토 시스템의 문제점을 도출하고 개선 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 영국이나 싱가포르처럼 작업설계 초기부터 재검토해야 하고, 건설업 재해 경감을 위한 대규모 건설뿐 아니라 소규모 건설에서도 안전성 검토가 이뤄져야 한다. 특히 관련 제도 미비 등에 대한 제도 마련이 필요한데, 안전시스템 설계는 사업자 중심의 안전관리 체계에서 스펙트럼을 확대하는 것으로 향후 충분한 개선과 연구가 필요하다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

  • 국내 중 소규모 건설 산업은 시공분야를 중심으로 발전하여 왔으며 소프트분야가 상대적으로 취약하다. 또한 다양한 발주 체계가 활용되지 못하는 문제점을 안고 진행되고 있다. 더욱이 현재 국내 건설 프로젝트들은 자금력과 기술력을 갖춘 대형 건설업체들이 경쟁 우위를 점하고 있어 중 소규모 건설업체들의 입지가 줄어들고 있다. 최근국내 외 건설시장의 대형화, 고도화와 함께 기술집약적인 공사가 늘어감에 따라 기술경쟁이 가능한 설계시공일괄(Design-Build)방식의 건설 산업이 늘어나고 있는 추세이며 규모가 작은 중 소건설기업의 상황에서는 더욱 건설시장에서 효과적인 경쟁력을 보유하여야 할 것으로 예상한다. 이에 본 연구는 디자인 빌드 방식의 성공요인과 중 소규모 프로젝트 사례조사를 한 후 AHP 분석을 통해 성공요인 도출 및 중요도 분석을 함으로써 중 소규모 건설업체의 디자인 빌드 방식의 성공적 수행을 위한 중점 관리요인을 제시하고자 한다. 그리하여 향후 중 소 건설업체의 발전과 생산성 향상을 위한 기반을 제공하고자 한다.

  • This study focus on the suggestion of application manual using assembling reference plane design & standard finish material basis upon material classification code. We see it will function as a tool of a linkage between building design and construction standarization in order to enlarge the applicability of house building material that is produced by the module plan. For a estabilishing of this condition, it is neccessary to link the standardization's result of material--design--construction field. According to this neccessity, we are going to suggest information factor that can make relative business manager easily approach to the standardization practical task.

  • Despite the improvement of productivity and cost, the operating of such equipments yet has been recognized as a 3D business which is a low wage and poor working environment business field. Accordingly, the number of such operators has been decreasing by time. Especially, construction equipment demands higher controlling skills and occasionally involved in critical accidents. Therefore, this study aims to suggest a conceptual design for an construction equipment Around View Monitoring system that visually assists the operator for more efficient operating. It is expected that the application of such technology for a construction equipment highly improves the productivity and work quality, moreover, prevents disastrous accidents that occur to labors.
