  • Scrypt is a password-based key derivation function proposed by Colin Percival in 2009 that has a memory-hard structure. Scrypt has been intentionally designed with a memory-intensive structure to make password cracking using ASICs, GPUs, and similar hardware more difficult. However, in this study, we thoroughly analyzed the operation of Scrypt and proposed strategies to maximize computational parallelism in GPU environments. Through these optimizations, we achieved an outstanding performance improvement of 8284.4% compared with traditional CPU-based Scrypt computations. Moreover, the GPU-optimized implementation presented in this paper outperforms the simple GPU-based Scrypt processing by a significant margin, providing a performance improvement of 204.84% in the RTX3090. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed approach in harnessing the computational power of GPUs and achieving remarkable performance gains in Scrypt calculations. Our proposed implementation is the first GPU implementation of Scrypt, demonstrating the ability to efficiently crack Scrypt.

  • The operation Move is defined in Chomsky (1999, 2000) as a composite operation consisting of three components: Agree, Identify and Merge, taking Agree as a necessary condition for Move. Therefore, I call this definition of Move as the Agree-based Move. In this paper, I argue that the Agree-based approach to Move cannot be maintained; I claim that the Selection-based approach to Move, in which the EPP-feature is analyzed as an s-selectional property of a head, offers a more natural account of the sentences under consideration. I believe that the three components of Move as defined in (6) happen to co-occur in the derivation of certain sentences, as the composite transformation called Passivization does in the derivation of a passive sentence like “the city was destroyed by the enemy.” On the basis of these observations, I conclude that Agree and Move should be regarded as separate computational operations; the task of Agree is to erase uninterpretable features of both probe and goal, and that of Move is to satisfy the EPP-feature, which should be taken as an s-selectional feature.

  • This study explores the lexical-semantic structure of derived causative verbs in Korean based on Pustejovsky(1995)'s Generative Lexicon Theory (GL). Morphological causative verbs are derived from their root stems by affixing ‘-i, -hi, -li, -gi’ in Korean and the meanings of derived predicates are closely related to the meanings of their root verbs. In particular, the change of the ARGUMENT STRUCTURE by morphological derivation leads to the change of the EVENT STRUCTURE. The ARGUMENT STRUCTURES of derived causative verbs include a causer argument, which is added to the ARGUMENT STRUCTURE of their root verbs by means of the causative derivation. Their EVENT STRUCTURE has a headed process related to a causer and its result is the event which their root verbs denote. This approach can also suggest that the (in)directness of causative is dependent on is the semantics of its root verb.

  • Dr. Taguchi proposed three models of ideal functions for dynamic systems with double signal factors. He also gave examples for each model yet without derivation. It will be difficult for other engineers to follow because Dr. Taguchi didn't show us how he obtained those models. Actually we can analyze each example from engineering aspect based on basic mechanism. In this paper we use brake systems to illustrate our approach of derivation and obtain a different form of ideal function from what Taguchi proposed. Our purpose is to provide an example that engineers can imitate and solve his problem at hand.

  • Control systems are used to limit structural lateral deflections during large external loads such as winds and earthquakes. Most recently, the semi-active control approach has grown in popularity due to inexpensive control devices that consume little power. As a result, recently designed control systems have employed many semi-active control devices for the control of a structure. In the future, it is envisioned that structural control systems will be large-scale systems defined by high actuation and sensor densities. Decentralized control approaches have been used to control large-scale systems that are too complex for a traditional centralized approach, such as linear quadratic regulation (LQR). This paper describes the derivation of energy market-based control (EMBC), a decentralized approach that models the structural control system as a competitive marketplace. The interaction of free-market buyers and sellers result in an optimal allocation of limited control system resources such as control energy. The Kajima-Shizuoka Building and a 20-story benchmark structure are selected as illustrative examples to be used for comparison of the EMBC and centralized LQR approaches.

  • A process optimal design methodology applicable to steady-state forming with a strain-hardening material is presented. in this approach the optimal design problem is formulated on the basis of a rigid-viscoplastic finite element process model and a derivative based approach is adopted as an optimization technique The process model the schemes for the evaluation of the design sensitivity considering the effect of strain-hardening and an iterative procedure for design optimization are described. the validity of the proposed approach is demonstrated through application to die shape optimal design in extrusion.

  • In this paper, I discuss some asymmetries of bracketing paradoxes from a corpus-based perspective. Through a critical examination of previous analyses of bracketing paradoxes, it is demonstrated that the cases of apparent asymmetries of bracketing paradoxes are consistently accounted for when combined with the frequency-based parsability in morphological processing. Based on the relative frequency, this paper argues that bracketing paradoxes are well-atttested when their immediate bases are frequent and productive enough to be accessed as a unit and stored as such in memory. This is an extension of Hay 2002 which conducted a comprehensive survey of differential frequency effects in suffix pairs. A frequency-based approach to bracketing paradoxes adopted in this paper can be a challenge to the conventional formal theory by assuming a major role of language use and have the potential to significantly advance our understanding of the asymmetries observed in the real language world.

  • This work describes an approach that contributes to derive from mission to critical functions of the attack helicopter under future battle space environment. An existing mission of the attack helicopter is limited to the only shooter oriented functions. In the future environment, mission and its functions of the helicopter might be much expanded. The functions should be derived by the top down approach based on systems engineering approach. In this point of view, this work describes network based future battle environment. From this environment, the missions of the attack helicopter are identified and optimized functions are derived through sequential procedures like from missions to tasks, tasks to activities, and activities to functions. The selected activities are obtained from the tasks using QFD. The weighting scores of the QFD are calculated by the AHP computational procedure. Finally the critical functions are presented through the similar procedure.

  • An equation is proposed to predict ultimate shear strength. The equatiion on ultimate shear strength, which is purely based on analytical premises, is similar form to ACI code(11-6) which is derived mainly from empirical approach. Furthermore, the strength predicted by the proposed equation show better correlation with the tested values than the values calculated by Zsutty's formula.

  • The computer program DASH(Direct Analysis of Ship's Hull), based on the direct calculating procedure as proposed at the 4th ISSC(1970), was developed. The DASH program is designed by the following calculation procedure: 1) Derivation of the design wave loads through the ship motion analysis based on the strip theory. 2) Stress analysis of the hull girder based on the 7-degree of the freedom beam theory including the warping torsion effect. 3) Long-term prediction of the stresses based on the statistical approach using sea-spectrums and ocean wave data in the ship's route. An example calculation was performed for the purpose of a demonstration of the present approach on the 16,200 DWT Oil Tanker. The results are discussed and compared with the conventional method.
