Performance Study of Satellite Image Processing on Graphics Processors Unit Using CUDA

  • High resolution satellite images are now widely used for a variety of mapping applications including photogrammetry, GIS data acquisition and visualization. As the spectral and spatial data size of satellite images increases, a greater processing power is needed to process the images. The solution of these problems is parallel systems. Parallel processing techniques have been developed for improving the performance of image processing along with the development of the computational power. However, conventional CPU-based parallel computing is often not good enough for the demand for computational speed to process the images. The GPU is a good candidate to achieve this goal. Recently GPUs are used in the field of highly complex processing including many loop operations such as mathematical transforms, ray tracing. In this study we proposed a technique for parallel processing of high resolution satellite images using GPU. We implemented a spectral radiometric processing algorithm on Landsat-7 ETM+ imagery using CUDA, a parallel computing architecture developed by NVIDIA for GPU. Also performance of the algorithm on GPU and CPU is compared.

영상처리를 위한 Pipelined 병렬처리 시스템 (Pipelined Parallel Processing System for Image Processing)

  • 본 논문에서는 영상 응용프로그램의 처리 속도를 향상하기 위한 병렬처리 시스템을 제안한다. 병렬처리 시스템은 Pipelined SIMD 구조를 갖고 있으며, 다수개의 처리기와 다중접근 기억장치로 구성된다. 다중접근 기억장치는 메모리 모듈들과 메모리 제어부로 구성되며, 메모리 제어부는 메모리 모듈 선택 모듈, 데이터 라우팅 모듈, 그리고 주소 계산 및 라우팅 모듈로 구성되어 있으며, 블록, 행, 그리고 열 내의 데이터를 동시에 접근할 수 있는 기능을 제공한다. 제안한 병렬처리 시스템을 검증하기 위해서 형태학적 필터를 적용하여 기능 검증 및 처리속도를 확인하였다.

  • As seafood processing by-products, enormous seafood processing waste waters (SPWWs) are produced at most seafood processing plants, but management of these waste waters are becoming great burden at small capacity processing plant. Hence, almost of them have been discarded without suitable application methods. And these SPWWS might causes of marine environmental pollution and waste in potential food resources. (omitted)

Rice pasta containing cultivar 'Saemimyeon' with high amylose contents and methods thereof

  • Recently, strong interest in the well-being and healthy food trends lead a spreading of rice processing products such as rice noodles, rice breads, and rice cakes. However, most of rice varieties developed in Korea showed very limited processing properties in processing of noodles compare to that of wheat flour. Moreover, low competitiveness as a raw processing materials due to high price give poor evaluations for rice noodles processing. To cope those barriers, 'Saemimyeon' a Tongil type high yielding variety with a high amylose contents was developed in RDA. 'Saemimyeon' showed about 10~32 % of increase in yield as 7.08MT/ha and 26.7% of high amylose contents together with easy grinding property of 65.7% of high chalkiness ratio. The both of milled as well as brown rice of 'Saemimyeon' were well fit for processing properties in rice pasta where the contents of rice flour for rice pasta was 99% (1% of Tapioka starch was intermixed in to the rice flour). A spaghetti type for wet noodles and macaroni type for dry noodles were developed, respectively. Each of pasta were showed relatively more or less an equal quality and panel test compare to that of durum wheat pasta products. Finally, rice pasta products could suggest an alternative idea for a new rice processing items where rice noodles market was stagnant.

  • 처리과란 문서의 수발 및 사무처리를 주관하는 부서를 말하며 업무와 기록물생산의 시작점이다. 처리과에서는 기록물을 생산하는 것뿐만아니라 편철·정리·보존기간 책정·이관 등 기록물관리 업무의 대부분을 수행하고 있다. 이러한 처리과 기록물관리의 중요성에도 불구하고 처리과의 기록물관리 문제는 업무담당자들의 의지부족 등 개인적인 문제로 치부되곤 했다. 이 연구는 처리과 기록물관리의 중요성과 업무담당자가 생각하는 기록물관리를 설문조사를 통해 조사한 후, 기관 기록물관리 업무에서 개선해야 할 사항들을 도출하였다.

제주 수산가공부산물 유래 기능성 소재 탐색 (Development of Bioactive Substances from Fishery Processing by-products in Jeju)

  • In this study, we investigated the bioactive substances of the Alcalase hydrolysate obtained from fishery processing by-products in Jeju by measuring bioactivities including radical scavenging acitivty, cytoprotective activity against 2,2-azobis-(2-amidino-propane) dihydrochloride (AAPH), and ACE inhibitory activity. This study is important because of utilization of unused fishery processing by-products in Jeju. The Alcalase hydrolysate was prepared through the hot water extraction and enzymatic hydrolysis, and then further separation of the Alcalase hydrolysate was performed by ultrafiltration using 10 kDa molecular weight cut-off membrane. The Alcalase hydrolysate showed the relatively higher DPPH and peroxyl radical scavenging activity ($IC_{50}$ value; 1.30 mg/ml and 0.888 mg/ml, respectively). Also, the Alcalase hydrolysate showed the ACE inhibitory activity with 1.87 mg/ml of $IC_{50}$ value. These biological activities are increased over 1.2 or 2.5 times through the ultrafiltration of the Alcalase hydrolysate. Therefore, the Alcalase hydrolysate obtained from fishery processing by-products in Jeju and the different molecular weight fractions should be given consideration for food and cosmetics ingredient. Furthermore, this research on the utility of fishery processing by-products might be a useful tool into the industry.
