Objectives: The objective of this study was to examine the current state of dementia-related education for dental hygiene degree programs in Korea, as well as to develop a dementia-related curriculum for dental hygiene programs suitable for the social characteristics of Korea. Methods: The study was conducted between April and November 2018. First, the current state of dementia-related education for dental hygiene programs in colleges throughout Korea and dementia-related education for other health care-related fields were investigated. Based on the initial findings, the basic content of the preliminary curriculum was constructed. Second, based on the opinion of the dementia-related curriculum development committee comprising 10 professors of dental hygiene, the operations of dementia-related courses and relevant details were constructed. Third, these operations and relevant details were assessed and revised based on focus-group interviews. Fourth, the dementia-related curriculum was developed based on the study findings and literature review. Results: The name of the course in the developed curriculum was set as "Elderly Dental Hygiene and Practicum." The course was established as a "major elective," and was offered as two units with two instructional sessions of two hours each. The learning goal for this course was acquiring the methods for understanding and managing the characteristics of the elderly. A consensus was reached regarding conducting the theoretical and practical lessons on some of the dementia-related content. The dementia-related curriculum comprised 10 "required contents" which is to be conducted over three weeks of theoretical lessons and two weeks of practical lessons. Conclusions: With the growing elderly population, the development and operation of the curriculum for geriatric oral health interventions are warranted in dental hygiene education. However, continued discussions and improvements are needed on the extent of educational content, considering various dementia-related symptoms and general geriatric systemic diseases.

Purpose: The characteristics of site plan of dentistry through examining the schools of dentistry and dental hospitals in Korea and comparison between them are necessary for the development of planning of the dental healthcare system. This study has been started to provide basic information for the planning of education and hospital architecture in dentistry. Methods: Literature review of space analysis and investigation on current status of dentistry in Korea have been conducted. The site plans of eleven schools of dentistry and dental hospitals have been analyzed with S3 axial analyzer in space syntax. Results: The result of this study can be summarized in four points. The first one is that the site plan of school of dentistry and dental hospital is influenced on the location of main campus in the city. The second one is that the types of relationship between dentistry and main campus are diverse from school and hospital in the main campus to independent dental campus in the city center. The third one is that the integration, connectivity and ERAM(3) of dental hospital are greater than school of dentistry and it means that dental hospital is located in easy access area compared with school of dentistry. The fourth one is that school of dentistry roles the connection space between main campus and dental hospital. Implications: It is necessary to analyze the site plan and arrangement of school of dentistry and dental hospital in the campus to develop the dental healthcare system in the city.

The dental hygiene evaluation was classified into 'Met of Goal', 'Partially Met of Goal', and 'Unmet of Goal' according to the dental hygiene diagnosis. Data analysis was performed for the Frequency statistics and a Fisher's exact test using SPSS 12.0K for Windows. Results : 1. The clients were mostly aged in their 20's(307 clients). 2. The dental hygiene care usually performed was 'Scaling' and 'Recommendation to visit a dental clinic', and the education performed was 'How to brush teeth'. The implementation result from the need to Freedom of Stress was as simple as 'Be careful when treating' and 'Explanation of medical treatment and tools'. 3. The dental hygiene evaluation showed a higher met rate in the field of education than in that of the dental hygiene care. In this study, electrochemical impedance characteristics of anodic oxide layer formed on titanium ternary alloy surface have been investigated, Titanium oxide layers were grown on Ti-29Nb-xZr(x=3, 5, 7, 10 and 15 wt%) alloy substrates using phosphoric acid electrolytes.
The authors selected fifty children aged 2 to 4 years who had normal occlusion from the patients admitted at the Pedodontic Department in the Infirmary of Dental College, S.N.U. Study casts were taken and observed on the primate spaces and terminal planes which are characteristics of primary dentition. The results were as follows: 1. The percentages of terminal planes were 56%±7.02 in mesial step type, 38.0%±6.86 in straight step type, 6.0%±3.36 in distal step type, respectively. 2. The percentages of primate space were 80%±5.09 in maxillary dental arch and 5.0%±7.06 in mandibular dental arch. 3. The percentage of mesial step type in korean children was higher in comparison with that in foreign children and the percentage of the primate space was about the same in korean & foreign children.
Surface characteristics of HA(hydroxyapatite) coated dental implant alloy by Sol-Gel method were investigated using potentiostat, ICP, SEM, EDX, EPMA and surface roughness tester. Surface roughness of HA coated specimen by Sol-Gel showed higher than that of PVD coated specimen. Corrosion resistance increased in the order of $1\%$ lactic acid, artificial saliva, $0.5\%$ HCI and $0.9\%$ NaCl solution. Amount of Ca element release was higher than that of V and P in the $0.5\%$ HCI and $0.9\%$ NaCl solution.
