  • Defect region segmentation of TFT-LCD images is performed by combining defect pixels detected by a defect detection method into defect region, or by using morphological operations to segment defect region. Therefore, the result of segmentation of the defect region is highly dependent on the defect detection result. In this paper, we propose a method which segments defect regions sequentially according to the possibility of being included in defect regions in TFT-LCD images. The proposed method repeats the process of detecting a seed using the median value and the median absolute deviation of the image, and segments the defect region using the seeded region growing method. We confirmed the superiority of the proposed method to segment defect regions using pseudo-images and real TFT-LCD images.

  • In this progressed super-impose individual recognition system, the photograph of a skull was caught by CCD-camcoder with the MPEG, and an ante-mortem photograph was read by scanner. These two images were processed and superimposed using horizontal angle and vertical angle of face using the forensic dental medicine theory. The enhancement of super-impose individual recognition by anatomical references was performed on the two superimposed images of the same angle using the facial triangle and histogram analysis scheme.

  • A glucanhydrolase (a DXAMase exhibiting both dextranolytic and amylolytic activities) from Lipomyces starkeyi KSM 22 hydrolyzed polysaccharides having ${\alpha}-(1{\rightarrow}3)-,\;{\alpha}(1{\rightarrow}4)-,\;and\;{\alpha}-(1{\rightarrow}6)$-D-glucosidic linkages. The oral hygiene benefits of DXAMase-containing mouthwash were examined in relation to human experimental gingivitis during a 3-week period without brushing. The DXAMase-treated group exhibited a lower increase in plaque accumulation and gingival index score than the chlorhexidine-treated group. The DXAMase-treated group also showed less tongue accumulation, bad taste, and tooth staining, thus indicating a positive role for DXAMase as an antiplaque agent ingredient.

  • In this paper the impact force which occurs on each tooth of jaw-bones while masticating is calculated through the rigid body dynamic analysis. This analysis is done by ADAMS. The impact force calculated in this paper is required for the structural stress analysis of implant system which is needed for the implant system design. The analysis results show that the impact time decreases as the impact force increases, the largest impact force occurs on the front tooth and the impact force is almost normal to the tooth surface together with slight tangential force.

  • Accurate acquisition of surface geometries such as machined surfaces, biological surfaces, and deformed parts have been very important technique in scientific study and engineering, especially for system design, manufacturing and inspection. Two-camera method keeps accuracy more than double than mechanical method. In this paper, a new method is studied to acquire 3D geometric data of the small object such as a die in stone model. When the devices, cameras, laser beam and object are in a perfect plane, the calculation is measured by position error 0.025[mm] within. But this paper shows that arbitrarily positioned system can also be used to obtain 3D data. Also, this paper present a method to generate coping surface data with which CAM system can do for milling work.

Two camera method keeps accuracy more than double than mechanical method. In this paper, we describe the processes surface data of teeth for automatic processing, transformation that changes to coping data of possible numeric data form, and processed inlay teeth. As the result of the Inlay manufacture, which can process with high resolution, therefore we construct the automatic processing system that depends on manual.

  • Calcium phosphate ceramics have been applied intensively to orthopaedic and dental implants by virtue of their osteoconductive nature. In an attempt to enhance the bone implant intergrity and Eta utility, these ceramics are deposited onto the porous surface of metallic implants. The coating procedure and the ensuing phase transformations of the ceramic alter the mechanical properties and surface chemistry of the ceramic layers as well as those of the substrate. These structural and compositional differences are directly related to the interaction mechanisms at the surface-active ceramicbone interface. Material and processing induced influences on dissolution, electrokinetic behavior, ceramic-metallic substrate interface and boRe growth enhancement are presented.

  • The Co-Cr alloys have clinical histories in dental and orthopaedic implants, and recently in cardiovascular stent applications because the alloys exhibit a high elastic modulus and radiopacity. In order to improve mechanical property of the Co-Cr alloys, electropolishing is employed as the final process. Electropolishing, an anodic dissolution process in the transpassive state, is sensitively affected by process conditions such as current density, machining time, electrode gap. In this study, the effect of heat treatment conditions on surface roughness and inclusion analysis is investigated in Co-Cr alloy (L605). The most smooth surface of Co-Cr alloy is obtained when electropolishing is performed at 15-20 V for 15-30 sec with a electrode gap of 3.5 mm.

  • When a small gear rotates at a very high speed over 40,000 rpm, frictional heat is generated on the gear surfaces. Thermal deformations and stresses arising from frictional heat may lower the efficiency and fatigue life of the high-speed gear. Especially, such frictional heat has much stronger effects on the performance of millimeter-sized high-speed gears used for surgical and dental hand-pieces, due to a small surface area. An analytical equation was derived to calculate frictional temperature on a mating gear surface and conduction heat transfer analysis was performed. Thermal deformation and contact stresses were then calculated using FEM for gears used for medical hand-pieces. The contact stresses of the meshed gear and pinion increase by 19.4% and 16.4%, respectively, when the frictional thermal deformations are considered.
