Reinforced concrete columns exposed to fire experience severe deterioration in material properties and subsequent structural capacities. Degree of losses in structural capacity of a column due to fire-damage mainly depends on the amount of heat transferred into the column during the fire. A reasonable heat transfer model of fire-damaged reinforced concrete column needs to take into account the heat-dependent nonlinear properties of heat conductivity and heat capacity of concrete as well as the evaporation of moistures in a section during the fire. Compared to the previously suggested models, the developed model in this study has included all these parameters in its numerical expressions based on explicit finite difference method. The developed model could predict the temperature changes with a reasonable accuracy for the columns exposed to fire.
The superconducting properties of several HTS coated conductors (CC), which had different tape structures, fabricated by KERI, X and Y institutes were compared. We have fabricated the $high-J_c$ SmBCO CC, which has 273.5 A/cm, $1.2MA/cm^2$ and 93.5 K for $I_C,\;J_C\;and\;T_{c-zero}$, respectively, using the EDDC (Evaporation using Drum in Dual Chambers) process. Both X and Y institutes CCs, however, were purchased. The n-values of KERI, X and Y institutes CCs are 58.5, 40.7 and 31.5 in $V=1{\sim}10{\mu}V$ criterion, respectively. The in-field properties of $I_C$ at 77K were investigated and the $J_C(B)/J_C(0G)$ at 0.5 T with $B{\perp}$ ab-plane are 0.31, 0.19 and 0.24 for KERI, X and Y institutes CCs, respectively. From the $I_C-{\theta}-B$ measurement, we observed that the ab-plane of ReBCO phase was tilted for the ab-plane of substrate in the KERI and X institutes CCs. The tilted angle is about 5 degree. We confirmed that the peak shift (as an inclined texture) was observed by X-ray (102) pole figures of the SmBCO for the KERI CC.

The grain morphology, the changes in morphology and Jc with the thermo-mechanical treatment (TMT) history, the field dependence of Jc and the nature of intergranular bonding were studied in $T_{10.8}$$Pb_{.2}$$Bi_{0.2}$$Sr_{1.8}$$Ba_{0.2}$$Ca_{2.2}$$Cu_{3}$$O_{z}$/Ag tapes. As a result, incorporation of intermediate rolling during the final heat-treatment resulted in of plate-like TI-1223 grains, and thus enhanced Jc. Jc's near 2.5$\times$104 A/cm2 at 77 K and 0 T were obtained in just rolled tapes with an excellent reproducibility. The high Jc's seem to grain-connectivity easy recovery of excellent grain-connectivity during final heat-treatment after inter -mediate rolling, probably due to retarded T1 evaporation and excessive Ca content in the present composition. The strong field dependence of Jc even in low fields, however, indicated that there still existed significant weak-links and the degree of directional grain-alignment was far from the desired one. The intergranular binding in the tapes seemed to be mainly dominated by SIS junctions.
Lysimeter and field experiments were conducted in Sandy Loam to establish a simple estimation model for evapotranspiration (ET) of soybean for three years (l984-1986). Potential ET (PET) could be estimated by the eq.1 using Pan-evaporation (Eo) and was ranged from 1.1 to 4.6 mm/day during the experiments. PET (mm/day)=1.348+0.573 Eo …(1) Crop coefficient (Kc=maximum ET/PET) could be estimated by the eq.2 using Growth degree (G=days after planting/total growing days) and was ranged from 0.2 to 1.1 and from 0.6 to 1.4 for monoculture cropping and double cropping followed by barley, respectively, during the experiments. Monoculture : Kc=0.016+3.719 G-3.224 G$^2$…(2), Double cropping : Kc=0.609+2.014 G-2.120 G$^2$…(2). However, the maximum Kc was shown when G was about 50% and 40% for the monoculture and the double cropping, respectively. Soil water coefficient (f=AET/maximum ET) could be estimated by the eq.3 using soil water tension (Ψ) in 15cm depth. and it was decleased to 0.2 when Ψ was 10 bar. f=0.755-0.537 log │Ψ│…(3) Consequentially, the model to estimate the Actual ET (AET) of soybean was determined as eq.4 with the correction coefficient of -0.380. AET(mm/day)=PETㆍKcㆍf -0.380 …(4) The estimated AET were compared with the measured AET to verify the model established above. The average deviation of the estimated ET(AET) was 0.5782$\pm$0.338 (mm/day), and it would be within reasonable confidence range.
Weather data acquisition and potential evapotranspiration (PET) calculation procedure were investigated to support the agricultural development efforts in the mid-altitude mountainous region of Cheju Island. Automated weather stations (AWS) were installed at two points representing the east and the west of the study area. A personal computer was employed to collect the near-real time weather data from AWS through the public telephone line. Hourly data were available for solar radiation, air and soil temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, and precipitation. Based on the data for the month of June 1989, daily climatic features were comparatively analyzed for the two areas and the Penman equation was used to calculate PET. Air temperature was higher by 1 to 2 degree C in the east due mainly to the higher solar radiation and partly to the Fohn effect caused by the daytime southwesterly blowing over Mt. Halla. Diurnal march of soil temperature lagged by 4 hours behind that of air temperature and the diurnal range for 10cm subsurface soil was 3 degree C. Wind was consistently stronger and a marked sea-land breeze circulation was detected in the west. Calculated PET values were higher in the east by 6% than in the west. Overall values from the east and the west of the mid-altitude mountainous region were higher by 30% than those of the coastal region, which were estimated from the Class A Pan evaporation measured by the Korea Meteorological Service Offices.
Hangover after drinking is different from person to person symptoms and degree, but usually thirst, fatigue, headache, general boredom, gastrointestinal disorder, vomiting, diarrhea, deficiency of vitamin appears. This hanging phenomenon is caused by the action of precursors such as ethyl acetate and acetaldehyde, which are the by products of fermentation contained in alcohol and alcohol accumulated in hepatocytes and body. In order to solve the hangover phenomenon, the same Origin as polysaccharide Polydeoxyribonucleotide, which is a nucleic acid-sugar-phosphate complex, which is a semen or testicular extract in salmon extract, and a water soluble salmon extract powder having the same structure and lower price than Polydeoxyribonucleotide And D-Glucuronic acid and N-Acetyl glucosamine. It has excellent biocompatibility, viscoelasticity and moisturizing power. It has effect on reduction of body water loss and skin moisture content in hangover phenomenon. It is antioxidant and skin moisturizing effect Hyaluronic acid was irradiated with gamma rays, and the composition was prepared by using the salmon extract powder and the main raw material. The ethanol degradation, the acetaldehyde reduction amount, the blood acetaldehyde concentration and the acetic acid concentration were measured to evaluate the alcoholysis effect, Skin moisture evaporation rate To examine the evaluation unit water content of the skin was improved determine whether the antioxidant and provide skin moisturizing effect. The addition of ethanol extracts of salmon extracts showed a decrease of 5 to 7 times compared with no addition, and a decrease of 3 to 5 times of acetaldehyde. In addition, the change of acetaldehyde concentration and acetic acid concentration in blood showed a rapid decrease compared to the no - added control group. In addition, when the raw material of hyaluronic acid was used, skin moisture content was high and skin moisture evaporation amount was decreased. Therefore, hyaluronic acid, which is a polysaccharide polymer, has excellent viscoelasticity and moisturizing ability, It is considered to provide antioxidant and skin moisturizing effect. Therefore, it can be said that the composition containing salmon extract powder and hyaluronic acid as a main ingredient is effective for the hangover phenomenon which occurs after drinking.

The preparative methods of a chitosan-deposited activated carbon and its characteristics were studied by using three kinds of chitosan with different degree of deacetylation and average molecular weight. The procedure was consisted of the dissolution of chitosan into acid solution, impregnation of activated carbon, agitation, evaporation, and drying. When the chitosan-dissolved acid and its concentration, amounts of chitosan deposited, and agitation conditions were changed, the specific surface area, deposition state on surface, and stability were investigated, and amounts of Cr(VI) adsorbed was measured. In the preparation process, it was proper to agitate the chitosan-dissolved acetic acid solution at room temperature for 1hr. In the deposition of chitosan with low molecular weight, the specific surface area of activated carbon was greatly decreased even at low chitosan loading, but in the case of high molecular weight it was not nearly changed to 10wt% loading. It was known that chitosan was uniformly and physically deposited on activated carbon. The chitosan-deposited activated carbon was stable into the solution over about pH 6. The removal of Cr(VI) was remarkably enhanced by adding the adsorption function of chitosan to the surface of activated carbon with about 5wt% chitosan. It may be therefore used as an adsorbent for removing the pollutants in air and wastewater.

The barrier structure of the skin's epidermis is a key structure to prevent the loss of water inside the body and the invasion of foreign substances, and is composed of keratinocytes and intercellular lipids. At this time, the intercellular lipids of the skin barrier has the strongest structure when packed in an orthorhombic structure. However, it is damaged by various external causes and changes to a hexagonal structure. This change in physical structure can be analyzed non-invasively by analyzing the signal of the CH2-CH2 scissoring band of lipids using FT-IR. In this study, SDS was treated on porcine skin to construct a skin barrier damage model, and the degree of change in packing structure was quantified by analyzing FT-IR signals. We then judged whether the barrier of the damage model was recovered according to the treatment of the cosmetic formulation. From these results, an indirect method of measuring the water evaporation of the skin barrier to date can be supplemented. In addition, physical changes in the structure of the skin barrier can be utilized in a direct and efficient manner to identify the function and verify the formulation of various materials.
A study was conducted to develop a model for estimating evapotranspiration and yield of Chinese cabbages from meteorological factors from 1981 to 1986 in Suweon, Korea. Lysimeters with water table maintained at 50cm depth were used to measure the potential evapotranspiration and the maximum evapotranspiration in situ. The actual evapotranspiration and the yield were measured in the field plots irrigated with different soil moisture regimes of -0.2, -0.5, and -1.0 bars, respectively. The soil water content throughout the profile was monitored by a neutron moisture depth gauge and the soil water potentials were measured using gypsum block and tensiometer. The fresh weight of Chinese cabbages at harvest was measured as yield. The data collected in situ were analyzed to obtain parameters related to modeling. The results were summarized as followings: 1. The 5-year mean of potential evapotranspiration (PET) gradually increased from 2.38 mm/day in early April to 3.98 mm/day in mid-June, and thereafter, decreased to 1.06 mm/day in mid-November. The estimated PET by Penman, Radiation or Blanney-Criddle methods were overestimated in comparison with the measured PET, while those by Pan-evaporation method were underestimated. The correlation between the estimated and the measured PET, however, showed high significance except for July and August by Blanney-Criddle method, which implied that the coefficients should be adjusted to the Korean conditions. 2. The meteorological factors which showed hgih correlation with the measured PET were temperature, vapour pressure deficit, sunshine hours, solar radiation and pan-evaporation. Several multiple regression equations using meteorological factors were formulated to estimate PET. The equation with pan-evaporation (Eo) was the simplest but highly accurate. PET = 0.712 + 0.705Eo 3. The crop coefficient of Chinese cabbages (Kc), the ratio of the maximum evapotranspiration (ETm) to PET, ranged from 0.5 to 0.7 at early growth stage and from 0.9 to 1.2 at mid and late growth stages. The regression equation with respect to the growth progress degree (G), ranging from 0.0 at transplanting day to 1.0 at the harvesting day, were: $$Kc=0.598+0.959G-0.501G^2$$ for spring cabbages $$Kc=0.402+1.887G-1.432G^2$$ for autumn cabbages 4. The soil factor (Kf), the ratio of the actual evapotranspiration to the maximum evapotranspiration, showed 1.0 when the available soil water fraction (f) was higher than a threshold value (fp) and decreased linearly with decreasing f below fp. The relationships were: Kf=1.0 for $$f{\geq}fp$$ Kf=a+bf for f$$I{\leq}Esm$$ Es = Esm for I > Esm 6. The model for estimating actual evapotranspiration (ETa) was based on the water balance neglecting capillary rise as: ETa=PET. Kc. Kf+Es 7. The model for estimating relative yield (Y/Ym) was selected among the regression equations with the measured ETa as: Y/Ym=a+bln(ETa) The coefficients and b were 0.07 and 0.73 for spring Chinese cabbages and 0.37 and 0.66 for autumn Chinese cabbages, respectively. 8. The estimated ETa and Y/Ym were compared with the measured values to verify the model established above. The estimated ETa showed disparities within 0.29mm/day for spring Chinese cabbages and 0.19mm/day for autumn Chinese cabbages. The average deviation of the estimated relative yield were 0.14 and 0.09, respectively. 9. The deviations between the estimated values by the model and the actual values obtained from three cropping field experiments after the completion of the model calibration were within reasonable confidence range. Therefore, this model was validated to be used in practical purpose.
To investigate the hysteresis of the suction stress in unsaturated weathered mudstone soils (CL), matric suction and volumetric water content were measured in both drying and wetting processes using Automated Soil-Water Characteristics Curve Apparatus. The drying and wetting processes in unsaturated soils were reproduced in the test; the drying process means to load matric suction to spill pore water from the soils, and the wetting process means to unload matric suction to inject pore water into the soils. Based on the measured result, Soil Water Characteristic Curve(SWCC)s were estimated by van Genuchten model (1980). SWCCs have nonlinear relationship between effective degree of saturation and matric suction. The hysteresis in SWCCs between drying and wetting processes occurred. As a result of estimating Suction Stress Characteristic Curve(SSCC) using Lu and Likos model (2006), the suction stress rapidly increased in the low level of matric suction and then increased slightly. Also, the hysteresis in SSCCs between drying and wetting processes occurred. In order to design geo-structures and check its stability considering unsaturated soil mechanics, therefore, it is more reasonable that the SSCC of drying process should be applied in the condition of rainfall infiltration and the SSCC of wetting process in the condition of evaporation or drainage.
