The side collision reconstruction algorithm is developed using three dimensional car crash analysis. Medium size passenger car is modeled for finite element analysis. Total 24 side collision configurations, four different speed and six different angle, are set up for making side collision database. Deformation index and degree index are built up for each collision case. Deformation index is a kind of deformation estimate averaging displacement of side door of crashed car from finite element analysis result. Angle index is constructed measuring deformed angle of crashing car. There are two kinds of angle index, one is measured at driver's side and the other is measured at passenger's side. Also a collision analysis information in side of cars is used for giving a basis for scientific and practical reason in a reconstruction of the car accident. The analysis program, LS-DYNA3D is utilized for finite element analysis program for a collision analysis. Those database are used for side collision reconstruction. Side collision reconstruction algorithm is developed, and applied to find the collision conditions before the accident occurs. Three example collision cases are tried to check the effectiveness of the algorithm. Deformation index and angle index is extracted for the case from the analysis result. Deformation index is compared to the established database, and estimated collision speed and angle are introduced by interpolation function. Angle index is used to select a specific collision condition from the several available conditions. The collision condition found by reconstruction algorithm shows good match with original condition within 10% error for speed and angle. As a result, the calculation from the reconstruction of the situation is reproducing the situation well. The performance in this study can be used in many ways for practical field using deformation index and degree index. Other different collision situations may be set up for extending the scope of this study in the future.

A number of different nanoscale zero-valent iron (nZVI) materials have been prepared and compared depending on the desired properties for the particular application, but different physicochemical properties of this prepared nZVI make it difficult to universally compare and standardize them to the same scale. In this study, we aimed to demonstrate a simple microplate-based colorimetric assay using 4-chlorophenol as an indicator with respect to the remediation of real treatment targets, such as trichloroethylene (TCE), 1,1,1-trichloroethane (TCA), and atrazine. Effect of nickel contents on 4-chlorophenol reduction was successfully investigated by the miniaturized colorimetric assay. In the same manner, the effect of nickel contents on dehalogenation of TCE, TCA, and atrazine was investigated and the pseudo-first-order kinetic constants were compared with the results for 4-chlorophenol. The similar pattern could be observed between 4-chlorophenol reduction obtained by colorimetric assay and TCE, TCA, atrazine reduction obtained by a traditional chromatographic method. The reaction kinetics does not match perfectly, but the degree of reaction can be estimated. Therefore, the colorimetric assay can be a useful and simple screening tool to determine nZVI reactivity toward halogenated organics before it is applied to a particular remediation site.

This study aims to draw the basis documents for rural landscape management of Daewon-Ri through frequency analysis of landscape elements and preference analysis of rural landscape. The results are as follows. First, according to the frequency analysis of the landscape elements, a distant view is few effect characteristics in rural village landscape planning. It is acted as the landscape elements that degree of integration and skyline of the building to see more nearby than it are the most important. In addition, in the case of the establishment of the landscape management planning, the landscape elements in the close view is the most important. Second, It is thought that the scenery which natural environments and residential quarter match is the most desirable for the par of the landscape preference in the rural village. On the other hand, about the scenery of an old historic building, the residents of a city considers it as an affirmative factor of the rural village landscape, but rural village inhabitants are negative. Finally, it is thought that the excessive public designs by government sponsored enterprise are undesirable for the scene of the village.
Purpose: Evaluation of atmospheric conditions for proper timing of spray application is important to prevent off-target movement of crop protection materials. Susceptible crops can be damaged downwind if proper application procedure is not followed. In our previous study, hourly data indicated unfavorable conditions, primarily between evening 18:00 hrs in the evening and 6:00 hrs next morning, during clear conditions in the hot summer months in the Mississippi delta. With the requirement of timely farm operations, sub-hourly data are required to provide better guidelines for pilots, as conditions of atmospheric stability can change rapidly. Although hourly data can be interpolated to some degree, finer resolution for data acquisition of the order of 15 min would provide pilots with more accurate recommendations to match the data recording frequency of local weather stations. Methods: In the present study, temperature and wind speed data obtained at a meteorological tower were re-sampled to calculate the atmospheric stability ratio for sub-hour and hourly recommendations. High-precision evaluation of temperature inversion periods influencing atmospheric stability was made considering strength, time of occurrence, and duration of temperature inversion. Results and Discussion: The results indicated that atmospheric stability could be determined at different time intervals providing consistent recommendations to aerial applicators, thereby avoiding temperature inversion with minimal off-target drift of the sprayed liquid.
As the definition and role of design changes over time with the times and society, design education needs to update teaching methods to match it. The course design in this study began with an optimisation of the learning model based on previous research and analysis, followed by in-depth interviews, the application of the interview results to the final curriculum design, and finally a questionnaire to verify the positive effects of this teaching model. This teaching model has been applied to teach a pilot class in a university of applied sciences in China. The main characteristics of the course design are Project-Based Learning (PJBL) oriented, team cooperation centric, and an educational model developed based on peer assessment. In every stage of the UI design course, realistic project simulations are adopted, enhancing students' abilities through practical experience, teamwork, and peer assessment. The innovation lies in validating the effectiveness and advantages of this model at every stage of the UI design course, innovating existing teaching methods, optimizing learning models, and combining practice with evaluation. This research found that a project-oriented team course design based on PJBL has a high degree of effectiveness and relevance in each stage of the UI design course, significantly improving students' overall competence. It is expected that the results of this study can be applied in various ways to the course design of the courses that similar to design majors.

An improved version of the Element-free Galerkin method (EFGM) is presented here for addressing the problem of transverse shear locking in shear-deformable beams with a high length over thickness ratio. Based upon Timoshenko's theory of thick beams, it has been recognized that shear locking will be completely eliminated if the rotation field is constructed to match the field of slope, given by the first derivative of displacement. This criterion is applied directly to the most commonly implemented version of EFGM. However in the numerical process to integrate strain energy, the second derivative of the standard Moving Least Square (MLS) shape functions must be evaluated, thus requiring at least a $C^1$ continuity of MLS shape functions instead of $C^0$ continuity in the conventional EFGM. Yet this hindrance is overcome effortlessly by only using at least a $C^1$ weight function. One-dimensional quartic spline weight function with $C^2$ continuity is therefore adopted for this purpose. Various numerical results in this work indicate that the modified version of the EFGM does not exhibit transverse shear locking, reduces stress oscillations, produces fast convergence, and provides a surprisingly high degree of accuracy even with coarse domain discretizations.

A knowledge-based system with fuzzy production rules is a representation of static knowledge of an expert. On the other hand, a real system such as the stock market is dynamic in nature. Therefore we need a strategy to reflect the dynamic nature of real system when we make inferences with a knowledge-based system. This paper proposes a strategy of dynamic inferencing for a knowledge-based system with fuzzy production rules. The strategy suggested in this paper applies weights of attributes of conditions of a rule in the knowledge-base. A degree of match(DM) between actual input information and a condition of a rule is represented by a value [0,1]. Weights of relative importance of attributes in a rule are obtained by AHP(Analytic Hierarcy Process) method. Then these weights are applied as exponents for the DM, and the DMs in a rule are combined, with MIN operator, into a single DM for the rule. In this way, overall DM for a rule changes depending on the importance of attributes of the rule. As a result, the dynamic nature of a real system can be incorporated in an inference with fuzzy production rules.

In this paper dynamic modeling parameters were estimated using a frequency domain estimation method. A systematic flight test method was employed using preprogrammed multistep excitation of the swashplate control input. In addition when one axis is excited, the autopilot is engaged in the other axis, thereby obtaining high-quality flight data. A dynamic model was derived for a small scale unmanned helicopter (CNUHELI-020, developed by Chungnam National University) equipped with a Bell-Hiller stabilizer bar. Six degree of freedom equations of motion were derived using the total forces and moments acting on the small scale helicopter. The dynamics of the main rotor is simplified by the first order tip-path plane, and the aerodynamic effects of fuselage, tail rotor, engine, and horizontal/vertical stabilizer were considered. Trim analysis and linearized model were used as a basic model for the parameter estimation. Doublet and multistep inputs are used to excite dynamic motions of the helicopter. The system and input matrices were estimated in the frequency domain using the equation error method in order to match the data of flight test with those of the dynamic modeling. The dynamic modeling and the flight test show similar time responses, which validates the consequence of analytic modeling and the procedures of parameter estimation.
