  • In this paper, an accelerated degradation test procedure for an electronic appliance compressor is proposed. We investigate the amount of wear of the compressor and consider several factors as accelerating factors. Finally we select the operating pressure as a main accelerating factor. The test condition of accelerated degradation test is determined. The modified accelerating test reduces the test time in design phase by using the suggested accelerating factor.

  • This paper investigated wind turbine degradation quantitatively by analyzing the short-term operation records of the Shinan Wind Power Plant. Instead of a capacity factor which is needed to be normalized its variability due to monthly wind speed change, this study suggests an analysis method by taking the difference between the theoretical power output calculated from the nacelle wind speed and actual power output as the quantitative index of performance degradation. For three-year SCADA data analysis of the Shinan Wind Power Plant, it was confirmed that power output degradation rate of 0.54% per year. This value is within the average reduction rate 0.4%/year~0.9%/year of normalized capacity factor of the onshore wind power plants in U.K. and Denmark; however, lower than the rate 2%/year of Canadian wind power plants.

  • In this paper, the new measurement methodology of characteristics of the vibratory micro gyroscope using Quality factor and the resonant displacement was proposed. Because the Quality factor has a large error under the high Quality factor condition, it is difficult to analyze the characteristics of the vacuum packaged vibratory micro gyroscopes with the Quality factor. We analyzed mechanical characteristics of gyroscope with the value of Quality factor. We described measurement errors of mechanical characteristics of micro gyroscopes. The measured value of Quality factor is 47532 and error range of Quality factor is from -29.8 % to 73.9 %. The value of resonant displacement is 3.4${\mu}m$ and the measurement error is 2.9 %. From the result of Quality factor degradation and resonant displacement degradation, 1698 days and 1503 days were estimated as Time To Failure (TTF), respectively. The range of estimation error of Quality factor degradation and resonant displacement degradation is calculated from 1246 days to 1832 days and from 1456 days to 1537 days, respectively. We can analyze the characteristics of the vibratory gyroscope using the quality factor when the Quality factor is smaller than 10,000. Also we can analyze that using the resonant displacement when the Quality factor is larger than 10,000.

  • This paper is concerned about an Accelerated Life Test for Micro Display Device which is being used in a Projection TV, in order to find a failure mode occurred in field in a short time, to identify a major factor to affect a life, and to estimate a mean life. For this purpose, we selected a temperature as a accelerated factor to perform a test and measured degradation of display device using visual inspection and chromaticity table. In the result of Accelerated Life Test, it is confirmed that failure mode is equal to the degradation of display device by vendor and the Temperature is a major factor to affect a failure. Besides, according as the display device is turned to green as degraded, it is identified that the change of the chromaticity value is one method to measure the degree of the degradation . So, we applied the optimal condition, which consider a cost and life to lower the Temperature which is a major factor acquired by the result of ALT, to PTV design

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to estimate the life time of OLED TV panel through electric current ADT(Accelerated Degradation Test). Methods: We performed accelerated degradation test for OLED TV Panel at the room temperature to avoid high temperature impact on the luminance. Results: we got more accurately the life time of the OLED TV when we applied ADT without temperature factor than including both current and temperature. Conclusion: Until now, the ADT of the OLED TV has been conducted with temperature and current at the same time for reducing test time and costs. We estimate incorrect life time when the temperature is adopted as an accelerated factor. Due to the high temperature impact on the luminance of the OLED TV panel. So as to solve this problem, we discard temperature and use electric current only.

  • Background: Globally, spinal cord injury (SCI) results in a big burden, including 90% suffering permanent disability, and 60%-69% experiencing neuropathic pain. The main causes are oxidative stress, inflammation, and degeneration. The efficacy of the stem cell secretome is promising, but the role of human neural stem cell (HNSC)-secretome in neuropathic pain is unclear. This study evaluated how the mechanism of HNSC-secretome improves neuropathic pain and locomotor function in SCI rat models through antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-matrix degradation, and neurotrophic activities. Methods: A proper experimental study investigated 15 Rattus norvegicus divided into normal, control, and treatment groups (30 µL HNSC-secretome, intrathecal in the level of T10, three days post-traumatic SCI). Twenty-eight days post-injury, specimens were collected, and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9, F2-Isoprostanes, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, transforming growth factor (TGF)-β, and brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) were analyzed. Locomotor recovery was evaluated via Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan scores. Neuropathic pain was evaluated using the Rat Grimace Scale. Results: The HNSC-secretome could improve locomotor recovery and neuropathic pain, decrease F2-Isoprostane (antioxidant), decrease MMP-9 and TNF-α (anti-inflammatory), as well as modulate TGF-β and BDNF (neurotrophic factor). Moreover, HNSC-secretomes maintain the extracellular matrix of SCI by reducing the matrix degradation effect of MMP-9 and increasing the collagen formation effect of TGF-β as a resistor of glial scar formation. Conclusions: The present study demonstrated the mechanism of HNSC-secretome in improving neuropathic pain and locomotor function in SCI through antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-matrix degradation, and neurotrophic activities.

  • The biodegradation rates of diesel oil by a selected diesel-degrading bacterium, Pseudomonas stutzeri strain Y2G1, and microbial consortia composed of combinations of 5 selected diesel-degrading bacterial were determined in liquid and soil systems. The diesel degradation rate by strain Y2G1 linearly increased $(R^2=0.98)$ as the diesel concentration increased up to 12%, and a degradation rate as high as 5.64 g/l/day was obtained. The diesel degradation by strain Y2G1 was significantly affected by several environmental factors, and the optimal conditions for pH, temperature, and moisture content were at pH8, $25^{\circ}C$, and 10%, respectively. In the batch soil microcosm tests, inoculation, especially in the form of a consortium, and the addition of nutrients both significantly enhanced the diesel degradation by a factor of 1.5 and 4, respectively. Aeration of the soil columns effectively accelerated the diesel degradation, and the initial degradation rate was obviously stimulated with the addition of inorganic nutrients. Based on these results, it was concluded that the major rate-limiting factors in the tested diesel-contaminated soil were the presence of inorganic nutrients, oxygen, and diesel-degrading microorganisms. To resolve these limiting parameters, bioremediation strategies were specifically designed for the tested soil, and the successful mitigation of the limiting parameters resulted in an enhancement of the bioremediation efficiency by a factor of 11.

  • This paper focuses on the estimation of durability and service-life of reinforced concrete structures in Wolsong Low- and intermediate-level wastes Disposal Center (WLDC) in Korea. There are six disposal silos located in the saturated environment. The silo concrete is degraded due to reactions with groundwater and chemical attacks, and finally it will lose its properties as a transport barrier. The infiltration of sulfate and magnesium, leaching of potassium hydroxide, and chlorine induced corrosion are the most significant factors for degradation of reinforced concrete structure in underground environment. From the result of evaluation of the degradation time for each factor, the degradation rate of the reinforced concrete due to sulfate and magnesium is $1.308{\times}10^{-3}cm/yr$, and it is estimated to take 48,000 years for full degradation while potassium hydroxide is leached in depth of less than 1.5 cm at 1,000 years after the initiation of degradation. In case of chlorine induced corrosion, it takes 1,648 years to initiate corrosion in the main reinforced bar and 2,288 years to reach the lifetime limit of the structural integrity, and thus it is evaluated as the most significant factor.

  • The degradation of barium titanate ceramics was studied under the high AC electric field. At 150$^{\circ}C$, life time was measured as a function of grain size, controlled by varying sintering time at 1375$^{\circ}C$ and electrical properties, such as AC conductivity, capacitance and dissipation factor, were measured during degradation process. The life time decreased as grain size increased in the range of 2.44-8.23$\mu\textrm{m}$. The AC conductivity was remained constant and increased suddenly at the last stage of degradation process. The capacitance was slowly decreased and the dissipation factor was slowly increased as the degradaton progressed.
