  • The purpose of this paper is an application of AHP in the problem of exportable nuclear technology selection based on data gathered from nuclear experts. In this paper, the decision criteria for evaluating export competitiveness of nuclear technologies are identified and the hierarchical structure of decision making process is developed systematically. Subsequently the values of weights for relative importance among decision criteria are derived using AHP methodology, and the score of importance of nuclear technologies with respect to each criterion is evaluated. Finally the score indicating exportability of each nuclear technology is quantified in order to prioritize then. We discuss implications of our results with a viewpoint of national nuclear technology policy.

  • Evaluating environmental impacts of regional development projects has critical importance in environmental management aspect. This paper uses multi-attribute utility theory as a basis for obtaining a value index to assess the environmental impacts and applies the theory to a specific Korean case study. To structure and quantify basic values for the assessment, we elicited important attributes, then refined and structured them into a hierarchy. An environmental multi-attribute index is constructed as a multi-attribute utility function, based on value judgments provided by a group of technical experts, policy makers, and a decision-maker at Korean Ministry of Environment. The implications of the results are also discussed. We found that the work and results can provide valuable insights for assessment of environmental consequences.

  • In this study, we have developed algorithms to find more effective solutions for compensatory decision-making problems in the case of the decision maker with fuzziness which can occur in a real world fuzzy environment. We have applied the algorithm to the problems related to the structural reform of the capital and the number of workers in the local industry. We have selected Taegu city for this study. In this study, we have determined the capital and the number of workers, satisfying maximum productivity and minimum air and water pollution under the constraints such as capital-labor ratio, the demand for land and water and the fluctuation of the capital and the number of workers. The determined capital and the number of workers could improve the competitive advantage of Taegu city and could be utilized as criteria for the compilation of the budget, determination of policy for supporting plan of companies, the forecast of number of workers and the training plan of workers.

  • Information systems(IS) outsourcing has become a very important management strategy of implementing IS and many studies on the IS outsourcing approach had been performed in the organizations. But it isn't still show how to out source the IS functions and how to offer quantitative magnitude for judgement. To offer a quantitative decision model that can help practitioners set priority and reap the most benefits from outsourcing, we show outsourcing structure including 3 factors (strategic, economic and technological benefit) and sub-levels which is different from the Yang and Huang's model. Also, we compute the weight of alternatives using analytic hierarchy process to find a priority of the IS outsourcing. As a result of analysis, we suggest systematic steps and quantitative model to increase the precision of decision making. 1)

  • The purpose of this paper is an application of AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) in the priority setting of promising technology in division of senior friendly product based on the previous studies. In this paper, the decision criteria for evaluating promising technologies in division of senior friendly product are identified and the hierarchical structure of decision making process is developed systematically. • As climate change is becoming the main issue, various efforts are focused on saving building energy consumption both at home and abroad. In particular, it is very important to save energy by maintenance, repair and rehabilitation of existing multi-family housing complex, because energy consumption in residential buildings is not only forming a great part of gross energy consumption in Korea but the number of deteriorated complexes is also sharply increasing. However, energy saving is not considered as a main factor in decision making on rehabilitation project. Also, any supporting tool is not appropriately prepared in existing process. As the first step for development of decision support system on rehabilitation, this paper developed a breakdown structure, which makes clusters of multi-family housing complexes. Decision tree, one of data mining methods, was used to make clusters based on the characteristics and energy consumption data of multi-family housing complexes. Energy saving and CO2 reduction will be maximized by considering energy consumption during rehabilitation process of multi-family housing complex, based on these results and following research.

  • While the value of information technology has long been a hot issue, few solid results have been found as of yet. It is partly due to methodological factors and model underspecifcation. This study empirically develops a ITS(information technology structure) taxonomy and investigates the relationships between ITS taxonomy and business performance in the Korean firms. Among factors that impact business performance, organization structure and control system are selected and they are hypothesized to moderate-the relationships between ITS taxonomy and business performance. By surveying 91 manufacturing firms and applying hierarchical cluster analysis, four ITS are identified : centralized, decentralized, centralized cooperative, decentralized cooperative. ANOVA, correlation analysis and crosstable analysis say the presence of moderating effect of organization structure and control system. Cooperative ITS is best in business performance. Centralized ITS is related to functional organizational form. Decentralized ITS is related to product organizational form with decentralized decision making, Centralized cooperative ITS is related to matrix organizational form. Decentralized cooperative ITS is related to matrix organizational form with high integration. These findings have implications for the opportunities and challenges to match information technology with organization structure and control system.

  • For the purchase of a cheaper product on the Internet, many customers have been trying to search online shopping mall sites and visit comparison-pricing shops that compare prices and other criteria of the product. Others have been participating into online auction markets or group-buying markets. However, a lot of online shopping malls, auction markets, and group-buying markets provide the same product with different prices. Since these marketplaces have different price settlement mechanism, it is very difficult for the customers to determine marketplace to purchase, considering different kinds of marketplaces at the same time. To overcome such limitations, decision rules and solution procedures for purchase decision making are necessary, which can cover multiple marketplaces simultaneously. For this purpose, purchase decision making in each market must be conducted to maximize customer's utility, and conflicts with other marketplaces must be resolved. Therefore, we have developed the rules and methods that can negotiate cooperatively the purchase decision making in several marketplaces, and designed an architecture of Intelligent Buyer Agent and a message structure to support the idea.
