This paper presents a new eddy current testing system for inspecting tubes of steam generator in nuclear power plant. The proposed system adopted embedded expert system concept to automate tasks of the inspection such as inspection planning and flaw signal interpretation, and integrated all the tasks into a client/server type computing architecture using database management system. Therefore, human factor errors occurred during inspection could be minimized and the inspection data could be transferred in real-time. As a result, we can increase the level of inspection confidence and the productivity of a personal inspector. A prototype of the proposed system has been developed for 5 years and the test operation has been performed in domestic nuclear power plants.

Ground and rock mass considered in tunnelling have characteristics such as uncertainty, heterogeneity and structural complexity because they have been formed undergoing various geological events for a long period. So, it is difficult for engineers to predict behaviors of rock mass in tunneling. In the paper the authors describe the development of an integrated expert system prototype for site investigation, design and construction in tunnelling and introduce the case applying this system to the tunnel construction site under construction. Geostructure Research Group in Korea Institute of Construction Technology (KICT) has developed the system during the past 4 years. The system mainly consists of several modules which is related to the design, construction and management of tunnelling. The test site, Neung-dong tunnel is located in Ulsan, Korea. The geology map shows it may confront big fault zone whose width is over kilometres. With the networking system of ITIS, various information of face mapping, monitoring and other construction task can be transmitted into the database and GIS Server at real time. And necessary analyses can be carried out with the modules equipped in the system.

The purpose of this study is to design and implement web-based quality cost management system to measure the performance of quality improvement activities in the business firms. The designed web-based quality cost management system which is also known as WQCMS (Web-based Q-Cost Management System) utilized newly classified objective performance indicator items to measure quality related activities. Well-classified performance measurement Indicator item lists which are played key role in the system was researched and standardized according to size and business categories of enterprise. Its code standards are based from fundamental PAF Model. Developed WQCMS have ability to collect and analyze quality data generated from various different departments in the inside or outside of the enterprise without any limitations, if end-users are able to access wide area network. It provides the capability to integrate quality information from database and to generate various easy analysis reports to management's needs using built-in analysis tool modules with real-time. The proposed system was developed using Microsofi's .Net technology, ASP.NET and MS-SQL Server 2000. By web-enabling Q-cost management system, the effectiveness of the system management and utilization was realized by easiness of information Integration and economical efficiency.

본 논문의 목적은 초고속 정보 통신망의 Client/Server 환경에서 MPEG 동영상을 멀티미디어 데이터베이스 관리 시스템에 저장하여 실시간 검색하고 이를 복원할 수 있는 환경을 개발하는 데 있다. 본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 데이터 전송에 필수적인 ATM 통신 환경 구축 및 MPEG-2 동영상과 ATM 망과의 연계동작 시스템을 구축하고, MPEG-2 TS 데이터를 분석하여 동영상 검색에 필수적인 I-프레임 및 키 프레임 추출 방법을 개발한다. 또한 추출한 키 프레임에 대한 색인을 부여할 수 있는 색인 편집기 및 색인을 통해 검색을 수행하는 동영상 검색기를 개발하며, 키 프레임 및 이와 관련된 색인을 관리할 수 있는 멀티미디어 데이터베이스 스키마를 설계 및 구축한다.

대화형 웹 환경에서 응용 프로그램의 성능은 고품질의 서비스를 제공하기 위한 필수적인 이슈이다. 즉, 웹 요청 트랙픽이 일시적으로 급증할 경우, 서버의 CPU 여유 시간이 부족하게 되고 결국 요청의 응답 시간이 증가하기 때문에 클라이언트에게 좋지 않은 경험을 유발하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 J2EE 응용 서버에서 설정 가능한 파라미터인 스레드 풀과 데이터베이스 연결 풀의 크기가 응용 프로그램의 성능에 끼치는 영향을 분석한다. 또한 최적의 파라미터 값을 얻기 위해서 웹 성능 분석을 위한 실험적 평가 기법을 소개한다. 마지막으로 사례 연구를 통해 성능 분석 결과를 제시한다.

본 연구의 목적은 XML 데이터 형식으로 변환되어 데이터베이스 서버에 저장된 위성영상의 정보를 웹 상에서 검색하고, 데이터의 갱신 및 재사용이 가능한 XML 기반의 GUI를 개발하는데 있다. 이러한 기능을 효율적으로 구현하기 위해서 문서 내용에 대해 구조적인 접근이 가능한 XML의 DOM 인터페이스를 이용하였으며, HTML과 JAVA 스크립트 프로그래밍을 병행하였다. 개발한 시스템은 게이오 대학 SFC 연구소의 위성 영상 관리 시스템에 적용하고 있으며, 그 결과 기술적인 효용성을 확인할 수 있었다.

Genotyping Tool for Viral SEQuences (GTVseq) provides scientists with the genotype information on the viral genome sequences including HIV-1, HIV-2, HBV, HCV, HTLV-1, HTLV-2, poliovirus, enterovirus, flavivirus, Hantavirus, and rotavirus. GTVseq produces alternative and additive genotype information for the query viral sequences based on two different, but related, scoring methods. The genotype information produced is reported in a graphical manner for the reference genotype matches and each graphical output is linked to the detailed sequence alignments between the query and the matched reference sequences. GTVseq also reports the potential 'repeats' and/or 'recombination' sequence region in a separated window. GTVseq does not replace completely other well-known genotyping tools such as NCBI's virus sequence genotyping tool (http://www.ncbi. nlm.nih.gov/projects/genotyping/formpage.cgi), but provides additional information useful in the confirmation or for further investigation of the genotype(s) for the newly isolated viral sequences.

대용량의 매핑 자료를 다수의 사용자들이 효율적으로 공유하는데는 클라이언트-서버 환경에서 복제 일관성을 위한 분산 모델 개발이 요구된다. 기존의 분산 모델은 각 사이트들의 사본간의 일관성을 강조했으나 GUI를 이용한 화면과 사본간의 일관성이 고려되지 못하여 매핑 시스템과 같은 장기 트랜잭션에는 적합하지 않다. 매핑자료의 특성상 분산 환경에서 트랜잭션들의 일관성을 유지하는데는 시간 지연이 많으므로 병행효율이 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 디스플레이 록을 이용하여 GUI 화면과 사본들 사이의 일관성을 지원한다. 매핑자료의 특성을 이용하여 낙관적 병행제어 기법과 일관성 모델을 개선하여, 처리효율을 향상하는 일관성 모델을 제시한다.

본 논문에서는 UML에 기반한 객체지향적 모형화에 의하여 인터넷에 기반한 원격 시험 시스템의 체계적인 분석 및 설계를 제시한다. 본 시스템은 기본적으로 교수가 문제를 출제하는 문제 출제부와 학생이 문제 에 응시하는 문제 풀이부로 구성된다. 객체지향에 기반하여 설계하고 설계과정에서 UML을 사용하여 설계 내용을 표현함으로써 객체지향적 설계의 장점인 체계적인 설계와 재사용성, 특정 프로그래밍 언어에의 의존성 등을 확보함으로써 개발과 테스팅, 수정, 보완에 있어서 효율성과 비용 절감을 얻을 수 있다. 또한 본 논문에서의 원격 시험 시스템은 원격 교육 시스템에 적용시킬 수 있으며, 기존의 오프라인 시험의 대치 또는 인터넷에 기반한 설문조사를 시행하는 시스템으로의 전환도 가능하여 다양한 분야에 적용이 가능하다.

본 논문에서는 전자펜과 그 인터페이스를 장착한 정보통신장치와 서버가 인터넷으로 연결된 환경에서 패턴인식 기술을 사용하여 글씨의 품질을 향상시키는 훈련을 수행한 수 있는 언어학습시스템을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 참조자료를 획득하는 방법 및 전역특징과 지역특징을 통한 글씨품질을 평가하는 방법에 관하여 기술한다. 제안하는 시스템은 문자 뿐 아니라 문자열에 대해서도 글씨품질을 평가할 수 있으며, 제시어와 입력어가 같은 경우 뿐 아니라 다른 경우에도 글씨품질을 평가한 수 있는 특징을 가진다. 따라서 제안하는 시스템은 글씨연습 뿐 아니라 언어 훈련에 매우 유용한 것으로 기대된다.
