  • This paper deals with the problem of double-talk (DT) detection in anacoustic echo canceller (AEC). In the DT detection algorithm with correlation coefficient, detection errors occasionally occur because it is hard to set the threshold to distinguish DT from echo path change (EPC). Adaptive filter falls into the situation that it stops updating its filter coefficients when EPC is erroneously considered as DT at the starting-point of EPC. In addition, in case of echo path changing during the DT period, the end-point detection of DT period fails so that the AEC cannot update its filter coefficients for a while even after the DT period ends. To solve these problems, in this paper, we propose a novel AEC that employs an auxiliary filter. We use the idea that though the error signal cannot be estimated using reference signal in case or DT situation but it can be in case or EPC situation. The experimental result verifies that the proposed method could solve the problems caused by DT detection error or echo path change during the DT period.

  • This paper proposes a new filter topology that suppresses the high voltage gradient(dv/dt) in ac motor terminals. The high voltage gradient(dv/dt) causes over voltages on the motor windings, the degradation or motor insulation, and the bearing failure. Moreover surge voltage with high voltage gradient(dv/dt) in the PWM inverter red drive system where long line cables are required causes more serious problem to the motor. Thus, the most advisable method is attaching output filter to the inverter output terminals. The conventional output filters have several problems such as bulky size, difficulty or parameter tuning. The proposed filter can be relatively smaller than the conventional filters. By the proposed filter, the shaping or PWM waveform can considerably suppress high dv/dt in motor feeding cable from the inverter. The effectiveness or the proposed filter is compared with that or the conventional one and is verified by the computer simulation.

  • A mixed CT/DT 2-1 cascaded ${\Sigma\Delta}M$ which includes a first stage CT ${\Sigma\Delta}M$ and a second stage mismatch insensitive two-channel time-interleaved DT ${\Sigma\Delta}M$ is proposed. With this approach, the advantages of both CT and DT ${\Sigma\Delta}Ms$ including high speed operation, inherent anti-aliasing filter, and good coefficient matching can be achieved. The two-channel time-interleaved ${\Sigma\Delta}M$ used in the second stage alleviates the speed constraints of the DT ${\Sigma\Delta}M$, whereas enables better matching between the analog and digital filter coefficients compared to CT ${\Sigma\Delta}Ms$.

  • In this paper, optimum bandwidth at BbT=0.25 was simulated uisng the formular of S.Elnoubi, who analyzed effect of receiving bandpass filter of discriminator type GMSK modem under static and fast Rayleigh fading channel which is applicable to land mobile channel environment, and measured with experimental system. The experimental results were well agreed with the simulation. The result shows that filter bandwidth is optimal at BrT=0.7 under static fading(fDT=0), while the performance is less sensitive to the bandwidth as Eb/No and fading rate fDT bacome higher.

  • Tractography using Diffusion Tensor Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DT-MRI) is a method to determine the architecture of axonal fibers in the central nervous system by computing the direction of the principal eigenvector in the white matter of the brain. However, the fiber tracking methods suffer from the noise included in the diffusion tensor images that affects the determination of the principal eigenvector. As the fiber tracking progresses, the accumulated error creates a large deviation between the calculated fiber and the real fiber. This problem of the DT-MRI tractography is known mathematically as the ill-posed problem which means that tractography is very sensitive to perturbations by noise. To reduce the noise in DT-MRI measurements, a tensor-valued median filter which is reported to be denoising and structure-preserving in fiber tracking, is applied in the tractography. In this paper, we proposed the modified gradient descent method which converges fast and accurately to the optimal tensor-valued median filter by changing the step size. In addition, the performance of the modified gradient descent method is compared with others. We used the synthetic image which consists of 45 degree principal eigenvectors and the corticospinal tract. For the synthetic image, the proposed method achieved 4.66%, 16.66% and 15.08% less error than the conventional gradient descent method for error measures AE, AAE, AFA respectively. For the corticospinal tract, at iteration number ten the proposed method achieved 3.78%, 25.71 % and 11.54% less error than the conventional gradient descent method for error measures AE, AAE, AFA respectively.

  • In general, the generated harmonics and noise of the PWM inverter are affected by PWM switching method, switching frequency, dv/dt and di/dt. Since multilevel inverters are often applied to the high power system, and operates with low switching frequency, theyproduce large size of harmonic contents and noise. Thus it is necessary to install output filters in the multilevel inverter. In this paper a filter design approach for the harmonic and noise reduction the three phase induction motor driving system using H-bridge 7-level inverter system is presented. The passive filter that has low cost and simple structure and can effectively reduce harmonics and noise, is designed and applied to the three phase induction motor drive having multilevel inverter system. The designed system is implemented and verified by simulation and experiments.

  • In this paper, filtering techniques to reduce the adverse effects of motor leads on high-frequency PWM inverter fed AC motor drives will be examined. The filter was designed to keep the motor terminal from the cable surge impedance to reduce overvoltage reflections, ringing, and the dv/dt, di/dt. Therefore, filtering techniques are investigated to reduce the motor terminal overvoltage, ringing, and EMI noise in inverter fed ac motor drive systems. The output filter is used to limit the rate of the inverter output voltage and reduce EMI(common mode noise) to the motor. The performance of the output filter is evaluated through simulations (PSIM) and experiment on PWM inverter-fed ac motor drive(3phase, 3hp(2.2kw), input voltage 220/380V, induction motor). An experimental PWM drive system reduction of conducted EMI was implemented on an available TMS320C31 microprocessor control board. Finally, experimental results showed that the inverter output filter reduces more CM noise than the LPF(low pass filter) and reduce overvoltage and ringing at the motor terminal.

  • In this paper, filters are designed to reduce transients overvoltage in inverter fed high-voltage large-capacity induction motor drive system. Design issues for a LCR filter at the inverter output terminals to reduce the dv/dt of the inverter output pulse and a RC filter at the induction motor input terminals to match the characteristic impedance between cable and induction motor are examined in detail. These filters are modeled to be suitable to high-voltage large-capacity induction motor. The performance of the filter is evaluated through simulation using EMTP(ElectroMagnetic Transients Program). We presented filters that used high voltage large-capacity induction Motor on the basis of this. Effect of the filter is analyzed for variation of the cable length. Characteristics of filters are analyzed to reduce harmonic in voltage waveform of induction motor input terminal. The switching surge voltage became the major cause to occur the insulation failure by serious voltage stress in the stator winding of induction motor. Filter for to mitigate transients overvoltage presents a required component in drive system of high-voltage large-capacity induction motor. Also, proposed filters are proved through simulation using EMTP.

  • A military vehicle is driven at different usage modes with the army application and servicing conditions. For practical durability validation, DT(Development Test) on a new military vehicle should be run up to the durability target kilometers on test courses in the specified proving ground. Driving velocities with test courses at the endurance mode of DT are established definitely. However, OT(Operational Test) and initial endurance test of production car can't be performed only in the DT courses due to the development period limit. Therefore, this paper focuses on the method to analyze the relative road damages between the endurance test in DT and other endurance test. Road load acquisition tests on KLTV(Korean Light Tactical Vehicle) were implemented at 15 driving modes in off-road and cross-country courses of two tests. Wheel accelerations were processed through band-pass filter, and then the main frequency and maximum power of the signals were computed by PSD analysis. Finally, using the proving ground optimization based on RDS(Relative Damage Spectrum) characterization, the damage factors between off-roads of test courses were determined.
