A Novel Design of Digital Position Servo System

  • The paper presents a cost effective and increased performance position servo system using the TMS320F240 digital signal processor (DSP) produced by Texas Instruments as microprocessor and Brushless Direct Current Motor (BLDCM) as executor. In order to make up for the drawback of conventional PID controls, the fuzzy PID is employed. The result of simulations and experiments has confirmed that the whole system is simple and reliable; the robustness of system is improved by using fuzzy PID.

  • In this study, We developed the microprocessor based controller for Auto Section Switch(ASS). This is installed at consumer's medium-high voltage(load capacity is below 4,000 kVA) switchgear. This function is cooperate with protection device of fault section and automatically dividing the section. And It is designed by Air putter type extinction structure and adopt the mechanism and breaking part module of existing Load Breaker Switch. In addition, We successfully conducted the operation test and checked main function of proto-type.

  • 본 논문에서는 내장형 응용에 적합한 RISC 마이크로프로세서와 DSP 프로세서의 기능을 유기적으로 결합한 구조를 연구하고 이를 설계한다. 프로그램의 크기를 줄이기 위해 RISC 명령어는 16비트 명령어 집합을 설계하고 분기 명령어로 인한 손실을 줄이기 위해 한 개의 지연 슬롯을 갖고 있다. DSP 명령어는 32비트 길이를 갖고 한 명령어로 곱셈, 덧셈(뺄셈), 두 가지 데이터 이동을 할 수 있어서 한 사이클에 최대 네 가지 동작을 할 수 있다 파이프라인 단계는 IF, ID, EX, MA, WB/DSP의 다섯 단계로 구성된다. DSP 기능을 지원하기 위해 내부 루프 버퍼를 갖고 정수 실행부에서는 주소 발생을 위한 전용 하드웨어와 DSP 유닛에서는 곱셈 및 누적 기능을 지원하기 위한 17 × 17 비트 곱셈기가 내장된다. 제안된 구조의 설계는 Verilog-HDL을 이용하여 top-down 설계 방식으로 설계되었고 각 기능 검증을 마친 후 3.3V, 0.6㎛ CMOS triple metal single poly 공정을 이용하여 합성하고 레이아웃 하였다.

An Implementation of Real-Time Speaker Verification System on Telephone Voices Using DSP Board (DSP보드를 이용한 전화음성용 실시간 화자인증 시스템의 구현에 관한 연구)

  • This paper is aiming at implementation of real-time speaker verification system using DSP board. Dialog/4, which is based on microprocessor and DSP processor, is selected to easily control telephone signals and to process audio/voice signals. Speaker verification system performs signal processing and feature extraction after receiving voice and its ID. Then through computing the likelihood ratio of claimed speaker model to the background model, it makes real-time decision on acceptance or rejection. For the verification experiments, total 15 speaker models and 6 background models are adopted. The experimental results show that verification accuracy rates are 99.5% for using telephone speech-based speaker models.

  • Because the digital control includes microprocessor different from an analog control, the digital control enables to monitor internal parameters of DC-DC converter and to control output voltage remotely by communicating with a Window based PC and also to monitor whether exact voltage is output or not. These things are impossible in an analog control. In this paper, a simple buck converter controlled by DSP is implemented. This converter outputs 0V to 5V from 15V input voltage and is controlled by a PD algorithm using DSP(TMS320C31). Finally the response characteristics of a step reference voltage and a digital controlled converter are analyzed to verify the usefulness of this converter.

  • We designed a SIMD-DSP/FPU that can efficiently improve multimedia processing performance when integrated into high-performance embedded microprocessors. We proposed partitioned architectures and new schemes for several functional units to reduce chip area. Sharing functional units reduces the area of FPU significantly. The proposed architecture is modeled in HDL and synthesized with a 0.35$\mu\textrm{m}$ standard cell library. The chip area is estimated to be about 100,000 equivalent gates. The designed unit can run at higher than 50MHz clock frequency of CPU core under the worst-case operating conditions.

  • A frequency in electrical power system changes by the load fluctuation in utility grid, has an influence on a connected generator, and ultimately brings a big trouble in the power system. Therefore, a quick measurement of system frequency and governor control of power system is a very important factor in the reliability and the economic feasibility. In this study, An improve algorithm that measures the power system frequency quickly and accurately is suggested, simulated by using Matlab and programmed using C code through DSP6713 KIT. This algorithm is tested to the arbitrary voltage waveform input. The results show that the suggested algorithm is effective in the accurate and quick frequency measurements.

  • This paper deals with the experimental assessment of the vibration suppression of the smart structures. First. we have presented a new high-speed active control system using the DSP320C6713 microprocessor. A peripheral system developed is composed of a data acquisition system, N/D and D/A converters, piezoelectric (PZT) actuator/sensors, and drivers for fast data processing. Next, we have tested the processing time of the peripheral devices, and provided the corresponding test results. Since fast data processing is very important in the active vibration control of the structures, we have focused on achieving the fast loop times of the control system. Finally, numerous experiments were carried out on the aluminum plate to validate the superior performance of the vibration control system at different control loop times.

  • This paper represents a design and implementation of a digital controller for a multi-phase synchronous buck converter (SBC) using a digital signal processor (DSP). The multi-phase SBC has generally been used for a voltage regulation module (VRM) of a microprocessor because of its high current handling capability at a low output voltage. The VRM requires high control performance of tight output regulation, high slew rate, and load sharing capability of multiple converters. In order to achieve these requirements, the design and implementation of a digital control system for a multi-phase SBC are presented in this paper. The digital PWM generation, current sensing, and voltage and current controller using a DSP TMS320F2812 are considered. The experimental results are provided to show the validity of the implemented digital control system.

  • DSP based on a 8 bit microprocessor was studied for ECG and PPG signals. Digital filtering has an advantage of reducing hardware components in system-on-chip design. However, low resolution such as in 8 bit data has much difficulties in DSP. We demonstrated a comparable performance of DSP filtering compared with analog filters.
