  • Recently, power supply-demand instability due to the dramatic increase in power usage suchas air-conditioning load at summertime has brought forecasts of decrease in power supply capability. Therefore improving the load factor through systematic load management, in other words, Direct Load Control became necessary. Direct Load Control(DLC) system is kind of a load management program for stabilization of electric power supply-demand. It's purpose is limiting the demand of the demand side selected at peak load or other time periods. The paper presented a Design of Direct Load Controller for control the amount of power demand in demand side. The proposed Controller is cheaper and has ability of storing more power data than pre-existing device.

Large-area Uniform Deposition of Amorphous Hydrogenated Carbon Films using a Plasma CVD Method (플라즈마 CVD 법을 이용한 대면적 균일한 비정질 탄소 막 증착)

  • It has been investigated for the film uniformity and deposition rate of a-C:H films on glass substrate and polymeric materials in the presence of the modulated crossed magnetic field. We used Plasma CVD, i.e, using a crossed electromagnetic field, for uniform depositing thin film. The optimum discharge condition has been discussed for the gas pressure, the magnetic flux density and the distance between substrate and electrodes, As a result, it is found that the optimum discharge conditions are $CH_4$ concentration $CH_4$=10 %, modulated magnetic flux density B=48 Gauss, pressure P=100 mTorr, discharge power supply voltage V=l kV under these experimental conditions. By using these experimental condition, it is possible to prepare the most uniform film extends over about 160 mm of the film width. In this study, we deposited a-C:H thin film on glass substrate, and have a plan that using this condition, study depositing a-C:H thin film on polymeric substrate in next studies.

XPS STUDY ON SN-DOPED DLC FILMS PREPARED BY RF PLASMA-ENHANCED CVD

  • We synthesized semiconducting Sn-doped diamondlike carbon films by rf plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition using an organotin compound as a dopung gas source. XPS quan-titative analysis for the deposited films after 60 s argon ion etching revealed that Sn concen-tration increased with the partial pressure of the organotin compound in the reactant gas. In C 1s spectra, there was a component due to C-Su bond which had a negative chemical shift. C 1s spectra also indicated that the deposited films were relatively $sp^2$ rich. The chemical shift of the Sn-C bond in Sn $3d_{5/2}$ spectra was about +1.7 eV. The electrical resistivity and the optical transmittance were also investigated.

  • This paper describes allocation strategies of controllable loads for load aggregator in power market with the direct load control (DLC) program, which is carried out the two-way confirmation procedure. So, it is needed to the priority among the controllable loads to perform effectively and quickly the confirmation task. In this paper, allocation strategies for market operator and/or load aggregator are proposed, which are based on the basic load patterns defined in this paper. To verify the soundness of proposed strategies. case study on a sample system is performed.

  • Generally, diamond-like carbon films (a-C:H, DLC) have been shown to have a low coefficient of friction, a high hardness and a low wear rate. Pd-doped C thin film was fabricated using a dual magnetron sputtering with two targets of graphite and palladium. Graphite target RF power was fixed and palladium target RF power was varied. The structural, physical, and surface properties of the deposited thin film were investigated, and the correlation among these properties was examined. The doping ratio of Pd increased as the RF power increased, and the surface roughness of the thin film decreased somewhat as the RF power increased. In addition, the hardness value of the thin film increased, and the adhesive strength was improved. It was confirmed that the value of the contact angle indicating the surface energy increases as the RF power increases. It was concluded that the increase in RF power contributed to the improvement of the physical properties of Pd-doped C thin film.

  • PVD(Physical Vapour Deposition)코팅은 70년대 미국의 Multi-arc이란 기업에 의해 질화물계나 탄화물계 피막 증착이 가능한 아크이온플레팅(Arc Ion Plating) 기술이 산업에 소개되어, 주로 내마모나 내구성을 요구하는 금형, 절삭공구, 산업용 부품 분야 등에 적용되면서 꾸준한 성장세를 거듭해 왔다. 최근 들어 PVD기술은 그 수요의 급증과 더불어 보다 진화된 형태의 코팅장치 및 코팅피막들이 산업에 소개 되고 있다. 먼저 절삭가공분야에는 new composition, nano composite, multi-element composition, multi-layer, SML(Self Modification Layer)등의 코팅피막들이 단독 또는 조합된 형태로 개발되어 철계 소재를 대상으로 고경도 소재의 고속가공, 저경도~중경도 소재의 중속~고속 광범위영역에서 동시 절삭을 가능케 하였고, 비철.비금속 소재 절삭용으로 종전의 가스방식의 DLC(a-C:H)코팅을 훨씬 능가하는 ta-C Plus(Ultra super DLC) 코팅이 개발되어 고 Si함량의 Al-Si계 합금, Cu-W계, 고 섬유 CFRP, CFRM 및 반소결 상태의 세라믹 소재들을 황삭에서 정삭까지 단일 공정으로 절삭이 가능한 고성능 공구들이 개발보급되고 있다. 금속 성형분야에는 고장력 강판을 냉간에서 성형 가능한 Lubricative multi-layer coating, 열간 또는 고온에서 성형이 가능한 functional multi layer과 이형성이 더한층 개선된 dimpled(or embossed) functional multi layer 코팅들이 개발되어 산업현장에 빠르게 확산되고 있다. PVD 코팅의 또 다른 주요 적용분야로 의료분야를 들 수 있는데, 이는 코팅의 대다수가 고경도의 생체친화적인 특성을 가진데 착안되었으며, 흔히 현대성 질환이라 일컫는 과민성 체질, 과체중 및 허약체질 환자의 증가와 각종 재해 및 사고의 증가 및 인간 수명 증가에 따른 인공적인 시술의 요구증가에 편승하여 이 분야의 시장 또한 가파르게 성장하고 있다. 또한 대량으로 양산 적용단계에 접어든 자동차 핵심부품들을 비롯해서 각종 산업용, 방산용 기계 부품에도 성능 향상, 내구성 향상, 환경친화성 등 다양한 목적으로 확대 적용되고 있는 사례들을 본 발표를 통해 간략하게나마 소개하고자 한다.

Effects of Hydrogen Gas on the Optical Properties of Diamondlike Carbon Thin Films Prepared by Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (플라즈마 화학증법에 의해 형성된 Diamondlike Carbon 박막의 광학적 특성에 미치는 수소가스의 영향)

  • Diamondlike carbon thin film have been fabricated using methane as a reactive gas by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition. Effects of hydrogen gas on the optical properties of the thin film has been investigated. When the hydrogen was used as a secondary gas, the role of hydrogen changed with deposition power unlike inert gases such as Ar and He. From the changes of optical band gap and FT-IR analysis, it was predicted that the chemical etching, sputtering of C-H bond by hydrogen and the implantation of hydrogen into the thin film could occur. The validity of the possibilities was confirmed by examining the effect of secondary gases such as Ar and He.

  • A double line commutation (DLC) type SFCL with first peak limiting function has been proposed for ideal fault current limiting operation. Very fast switching (commutation) without any arc or high voltage problems for any kind of switching device is needed for the first peak current limiting. We've tried to find suitable conditions for a successful switching of a Vacuum Interrupter (VI) with HTS elements as a Peak Current limiting Resistance (PCR).

  • Method of plasma-immersion ion deposition of hydrogenated DLC films on relatively thick flat dielectric substrates from plasma of not-self-sustained low-pressure gas arc discharge is suggested. Coating properties have been investigated experimentally, average energy Per a deposited carbon atom depending on discharge current has been calculated. Optimum deposition parameters lot obtaining sufficiently hard and transparent high-adhesive a-C:H films on a 4-mm thick glass substrates have been determined. Possibility to use these coatings for photo-tools protection from abrasion wear at low operating loads is shown in general.

  • Carbide-derived carbon coating has been synthesized by low temperature treatment of TiC disk with $H_2/Cl_2$ mixture gases. A variety of physical measurements indicated that Ti was extracted and carbon layer was formed by exposure of $Cl_2$ gas. The $I_D/I_G$ ratio increased with increasing $Cl_2$ gas concentration. Wear coefficient and frictional coefficient varied with $Cl_2$ gas concentration. When the $Cl_2$ gas concentration decreased to 3.3 vol%, the friction coefficient approach a minimum. The results showed that degree of graphite crystallinity and variation of porosity due to the $Cl_2$ gas content were responsible for different tribology performance.
