Synthesis, Characterization and Curing Studies of Thermosetting Epoxy Resin with Amines

  • A new hybrid thermosetting maleimido epoxy compound 4-(N-maleimidophenyl) glycidylether (N-MPGE) is prepared by reacting N-(4-hydroxyphenyl) maleimide (HPM) with Epichlorohydrin by using benzyltrimethylammonium chloride as a catalyst. The resulting compound possesses both the oxirane ring and maleimide group. The curing reaction of these maleimidophenyl glycidylether epoxy compound (N-MPGE) with amines as curing agents such as ethylendiamine (EDA), diethylentriamine (DETA) and triethylenetetramine (TETA), aminoethylpiperazine (AEP) and isophoronediamine, IPDA), are studied. Incorporation of maleimide groups in the epichlorohydrin provides cyclic imide structure and high cross-linking density to the cured resins. The cured samples exhibited good thermal stability, excellent chemical (acid/alkali/solvent) and water absorption resistance. Morphological studies by the SEM technique further confirmed the phase homogeneity net work of the cured systems.

CO2 Adsorption of Amine Functionalized Activated Carbons

  • In this work, the $CO_2$ adsorption behaviors of amine functionalized activated carbons (ACs) were investigated. The surface of ACs was modified with urea, melamine, diethylenetriamine (DETA), pentaethylenehexamine (PEHA), polyethylenimine (PEI), and 3-aminopropyl-triethoxysilane (ATPS). The various surface properties of amine functionalized ACs were characterized by Boehm's method, nitrogen full isotherms, XPS, and TGA analyses. The active ingredients impregnated on the ACs show significant influence on the adsorption for $CO_2$ and its volumes adsorbed on amine functionalized ACs are larger than that on the pristine ACs, which is due to the grafted amine groups of the AC surfaces.

  • The diffusion of fuzzy logic techniques into real applications requires specific software supports which save development time and reduce the programming effort. But we has been lack of a tool devoted to support the design of fuzzy controllers. In this paper, on the basis of the general fuzzy set and .alpha.-cut set decomposition of fuzzy sets, a set of fuzzy reasoning tool(FRT) devoted to support the design of fuzzy dontroller for servo systems is developed. The major features of this tool are: 1) It supports users to analyze fuzzy ingerence status based on input deta and expected results by three-D graphic display. 2) It supports users to prepare input data and expected result. 3) It supports users to tuned scaling factor of membership functions, rules and fuzzy inference. The paper shows how the suggested design tools are suitable to give a consistent answer to the tuning of fuzzy control system. This FRT is expected to exert good performance and devoted to support which the design of fuzzy controller is illustrated in the servo systems.

발전기 고정자 권선의 가속열화 특성 (Characteristics of Accelerated Aging in Generator Stator Windings)

  • Accelerated aging tests were conducted under laboratory conditions on two generator stator bars. Electrical stress is applied in No. 1 model stator bar. Electrical and thermal stresses are applied in No. 2 model stator bar. As aging times increased from 0 to 4780h, diagnostic tests were performed on No. 1 and No. 2 model stator bars. Diagnostic tests included AC current, dissipation factor(tan$\delta$) and partial discharge magnitude. The ${\Delta}tan{\delta}$ and $\Deta$I of No. 1 and No. 2 model stator bars increased with increased in aging time.

  • Molecular motions of polyaniline conducting blends were prepared. Surface resistance of its blends was investigated by a Surface Resistance Meter. DC electrical properties were investigated by Thermally Stimulated Currents(TSC) method and AC dielectric properties were investigated by Dielectric Thermal Analyzer (DETA) in the temperature range from $-50^{\circ}C$ to $120^{\circ}C$ at 1E0 Hz $^{\sim}$ 1E7 Hz for a comparative study of molecular relaxation. Using Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM), relations of both microstructure and conduction behaviors was observed.

UV-Degradation Chemistry of Oriental Lacquer Coating Containing Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer

  • FT-IR/ATR analysis shows that the oriental lacquer coating network degrades mostly in the unsaturated side chain. The rate of increase in carbonyl intensity (a measure of photodegradation) during the accelerated weathering test was substantially different for the unstabilized and stabilized samples; adding 2 wt% HALS into the oriental lacquer formulation enhanced photostabilization up to three times. Weight loss measurements, another indication of photodegradation, and SEM analysis support this conclusion. Despite the presence of the photo-stabilizer, the other properties of the lacquer were not significantly affected. In particular, the curing behavior of purified lacquer (PL) and HALS-stabilized samples is similar, although the in-situ DETA analysis showed that addition of HALS can slightly retard the cure reaction rate in oriental lacquer coating. It is hypothesized that this cure retardation may be related to the salt formation between HALS and acid of oriental lacquer.

아크릴계 이온교환섬유를 이용한 수중 크롬(VI) 제거 (Chromium(VI) Removal from Aqueous Solution using Acrylic Ion Exchange Fiber)

  • PAN 기반 아크릴계 섬유와 DETA 및 $AlCl_3{\cdot}6H_2O$를 반응시켜 아민기($-NH_2$)를 가진 이온교환섬유 PADD를 합성하였다. 개발된 섬유상 소재는 FT-IR과 SEM을 이용하여 그 특성을 확인해 보았다. 회분식 실험으로 수행된 PADD를 이용한 크롬제거 실험 결과는 Langmuir 등온흡착모델에 잘 적용되었으며, 이때 계산된 이론적 최대흡착능 ($Q_{max}$)은 6.93 mmol/g으로 나타났다. 한편 동적흡착실험은 Lagergren 유사이차속도모델에 잘 부합되었다. PADD의 크롬 흡착능은 pH 2에서 가장 높은 값인 4.11 mmol/g을 나타내었고 pH 변화에 많은 영향을 받는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한, 인산과 비소(V)에 대한 공존이온 실험을 통해 PADD가 크롬에 대한 높은 선택성을 갖고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 산-염기 역적정으로 구한 PADD의 총이온교환능 (4.70 mmol/g)을 통해 소재의 선택적 제거 가능성을 검증하였다.

  • 수중 금속이온 착화용 공업세정제를 비롯하여 산업적으로 다양한 용도로 폭넓게 사용되고 있는 EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid)는 수처리시 금속이온들을 제거할 경우에 방해요인으로 작용하므로, EDTA를 우선적으로 분해하여 착화결합을 끊어야 금속이온들의 제거가 용이해진다. 본 연구에서는, $TiO_2$ (Degussa P-25)를 사용하여 1.79 mM의 초기 Cu(II)-EDTA 수용액 농도와 $20^{\circ}C$의 호기성 분위기 하에서, 촉매의 양과 초기의 수용액 pH가 Cu(II)-EDTA 착물의 산화에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. $TiO_2$량이 2.0 g/L일 경우에 EDTA, Cu와 TOC 감소율이 최대로 나타났고, DETA의 촉매표면 흡착은 $TiO_2$ 표면전하에 의해 영향을 받으며 광-촉매 반응에 의한 EDTA의 분해는 광-조사전의 촉매표면 흡착에 의존하는 것으로 보였다.

생쥐난자의 시험관내 수정과 발달 (In Vitro Fertilization and Development of Mouse Eggs)

  • These experiments were carried out to obtain the information about the optimal pH osmolality affecting in vitro fertilization of the mouse eggs, to elucidate the 2-cell block to development in vitro and to find out the method of controlling the subsequent embryo development in vitro. pH and osomlality was adjusted by adding NaCl or NaHCO3 to the basic salt solution. In vitro fertilization were carried out by inroducting the cumulus masses to the suspension of epididymal spermatozoa at each pH, osmolality, and 10${\mu}$M-EDTA medium. The results obtained in these experiments were summarized as follows: 1. The fertilization rates in vitro at each medium of 235, 252, 269, 286, 306, 323, 345, 368, 393 mosmol were 15.6, 38.2, 65.7, 75.6, 80.9, 74.3, 58.1, 35.1, 24.3, 11.1%, respectively. 2. The fertilization rates in vitro at each medium of pH 6.1, 6.4, 6.7, 7.0, 7.3, 7.6, 7.9, 8.1 were 11.8, 17.9, 32.4, 61.9, 79.5, 76.7, 53.5, 13.6%, respectively. 3. In case of ICR female x ICR male embryos, the development rate of 2-cell embryos to 4-8 cell embryos was 16.2% at normal medium, but the rate was increased to 49.3% in medium containging 10 ${\mu}$M-DETA; In case of C3H female x ICR male embryos, the development rate was 41.0% at normal medium, but the rate was increased to 71.7% at 10 ${\mu}$M-EDTA-medium.

PE 계열 절연재 전기적 특성 평가 (Electrical Characteristics Assessment for PE Series Insulations)

  • This paper describes the results of electrical characteristics assessment for organic insulations of polyethylene(PE) series insulations and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer(ABS). In the experiment, 4 kinds of specimens by composition density were tested in relative permittivity, specific resistance and tracking duration. A WinDETA system and a tracking test set manufactured for this assessment were used to measure the dielectric parameters and tracking duration, respectively. In measuring the tracking duration, the time from testing voltage application to testing circuit breaking due to the tracking current was measured. As a result, dielectric dispersion was observed in measuring the relative permittivity of ABS. It was confirmed that the relative permittivity decreased with the density of the PE series insulations and it depends rather on the temperature than frequency. In most specimens, specific resistance exponentially decreased with frequency and the result for each specimen was almost similar. By the way, in the tracking test, all the PE series insulations showed more excellent performance than ABS and especially in the case of HDPE, its tracking withstand performance was the best.
