DC Characteristics Analysis of Various AC loads for Hybrid Distribution (하이브리드 급전을 위한 다양한 가정용 교류부하의 직류특성연구)

  • Recently, the use of DC power increased due to the increased use of digital load. Power factor of input current decrease and input current harmonics increase, and conversion loss which is occurred in the AC / DC converter is a problem to provide the proper DC voltage to the device equipped with an internal AC / DC converter. Hybrid system supplies the AC power and DC power to AC load (motor load and the transformer load) and DC loads (computers, TV, LED fluorescent light) at the same time it supplies the renewable energy and utility energy taken power from Utility to user for improving the efficiency and renewable energy improvements in ease of use. This paper studies DC characteristics of traditional AC load for Hybrid distributions.

Electrical Characteristics Analysis of LED Lamps using Internal Converter for Road and Street Lighting (컨버터 내장형 LED 가로등 및 보안등의 전기적 특성 분석)

  • In this paper, we studied electrical characteristics of internal converter type of LED lamps for road and street lighting. We surveyed electro-technical regulations and KS(Korean industrial standards) about LED luminairs. Waveforms of voltage and current, thermal distributions, insulation resistances between live parts and exposed conductive parts, and flame test of cover of LED lamps were experimented and analyzed. In regulations, insulation resistance between live conductors and exposed conductive parts should be greater than $0.2M{\Omega}$ in case nominal voltage of wiring is 220V. In KS codes, the value of insulation resistance should be greater than $2M{\Omega}$ while applying DC 500V or DC 100V. In the result of this study, waveforms of primary voltage and current were distorted. There was difference in waveforms of secondary voltage and current according to composition of converter. Mostly, insulation resistances were measured high more than regulation and code value but some measured points were measured badly($0.0M{\Omega}$). Cover of LED lamps was ignited easily. We expect that the results of this study would be helpful for revision of regulations and national codes for the electrical safety of LED road and street lighting.

  • 본 논문에서는 8W급 LED 조명등과 조명등을 제어할 수 있는 소형 콘트롤러를 제작 하였다. 고출력 LED를 사용한 LED 전구 개발은 8W 이상 출력 가능한 LED 전구를 DC로 구동, 기존의 AC 방식이 단점인 누전에 의한 화재 위험 방지 기능이 있으며, 주변의 상황을 탐지할 수 있는 센서를 장착하여 방법용으로 활용할 수 있도록 하거나 개별 점등이 가능하도록 하였다. 또한, LED의 수명 확보를 위해 적정 온도이상 상승하지 않도록 발열부를 설계하여 지능형 조명등 시스템으로 응용 가능한 조명등을 개발하였다.

  • For lighting application, high-power LED nowadays is driven at 350mA and a sensing resistor is used to provide feedback for LED-current regulation. This method adds an IR drop at the output branch, and limits power efficiency as LED current is large and keeps increasing. In this paper, a power efficient LED-current sensing circuit is proposed. The circuit does not use any sensing resistor but extracts LED-current information from the output capacitor of the driver. Controlling the brightness of LEDs requires a driver that provides a constant, regulated current. In one case, the converter may need to step down the input voltage, and, in another, it may need to boost up the output voltage. These situations often arise in applications with wide-ranging ""dirty"" input power sources, such as automotive systems. And, the driver topology must be able to generate a large enough output voltage to forward bias the LEDs. So, to provide this requirements, 13W prototype Buck-Boost Converter is used.

  • An LED lighting which adjusted brightness according to the surround ambient implemented using PWM technology and power devices. To measure the brightness of surround ambient a CdS sensor was used. A control board for the generation of the PWM signal was made using a MCU and duty ratio was controlled according to light intensity of surround ambient of the system. To drive the LED lamps which require high-voltage and high-current power devices were used for switching the DC power supply. Measurement results show that the IGBT is excellent as only lineality but the PowerBJT is more good to consider to efficiency and cost.

  • In this paper, we studied risk assessments of electrical fire and shock of LED lightings for outdoor. We examined national regulations about the LED lighting for outdoor and analyzed the appearances and compositions of LED lightings. And, We experimented about water proof, line to line fault, line to line breakdowm, overvoltage, line to line leakage in overhead line or water of LED lighting. From experimental results, we know that there are risks of electrical fire and shock by abnormal conditions at the LED lighting. Therefore, the uses of protective devices and insulated type of converter are required for the electrical safety. We expect that the results of this study would be helpful for the improvement of regulations and standards for electrical safety and for the investigations of electrical accidents of LED lightings.

  • LED is a promising new generation of green lighting with the advantages of high efficiency, good optical performance, long lifetime and environmental friendliness. A pulsating current can be used to drive LEDs. However, current with a high peak-to-average ratio is unfavorable for LEDs. A novel control scheme for the ac-dc critical conduction mode (CRM) flyback LED driver is proposed in this paper. By using the input voltage, output voltage and average output current to control the turn-on time of the switch, the peak-to-average ratio of the output current can be reduced. The operation principle is analyzed and an implementation circuit is put forward. Experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

  • 본 논문에서는 정전류 LED조명 구동을 위한 일차측 전류 제어의 새로운 기법을 제안한다. 일정한 온-타임으로 동작하는 경계 모드(Critical Mode) 플라이백 타입으로 우수한 역률을 달성하였고, 의사 공진(Quasi-resonant) 동작으로 스위칭 손실을 최소화 하였다. 본문에서 LED전류가 5% 이하로 정전류 제어되는 9W급 플라이백 타입의 일차 측 전류 제어 기법을 실험으로 검증한다.

  • There are increased interests in using new regeneration energy due to the effect of the latest rising oil price. On this account, various practical applications using small stand-alone PV generation system are being made. In this paper, with intent to change mercury lamp using for existing garden lamp with high flux LED, we have considered load characteristic using high flux LED modules applied to PV system. It is simulated with PSIM and made experiment set with a 75[W] solar cell module, DC-DC converter, controller and battery.

  • 본 논문은 Rear Combination LED Lamp 동작 시 전류와 광출력의 변동폭를 최소화하는 LED 조명광원의 특성을 고려하여 정전류 회로의 구현이 유리한 DC/DC 컨버터의 EMC 고효율 필터를 제안하여 외부의 전자계로부터 장애를 유발하지 않고, 일정 수준의 전자파 환경에서도 오동작 없이 원할하게 작동될 수 있도록 관련 기기 상호간의 전파 환경을 개선하는 고효율 Filter를 제안 하고자 한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 Filter는 EMI 측정을 통해 타당성과 우수성을 검증하였다.
