LC 공진 필터를 이용한 전해 커패시터 없는 LED 구동용 PFC CCM 플라이백 컨버터의 출력 전류 리플 저감에 관한 연구 (The Study of Ripple Reduction of the PFC CCM Flyback Converter without Electrolytic Capacitor for LED Lightings using LC Resonant Filter)

  • The light-emitting diode (LED) has been used in a variety of industrial fields and for general 0lighting purposes on account of its high efficiency, low power consumption and long lifespan. The LED is driven by direct current; therefore, an AC/DC converter is typically required for its use. An electrolytic capacitor is generally used for stabilizing DC voltage during use of the AC/DC converter. However, this capacitor has a short lifespan, which makes it a limiting factor in LED lighting. Furthermore, LED lighting requires a dimmable control to enable energy savings and fulfil a growing consumer demand. In this paper, the dimmable single-stage power factor correction (PFC) continuous conduction mode (CCM) flyback converter that employs no electrolytic capacitor is presented. The LC resonant filter is alternatively applied to reduce the 120[Hz] ripple on the output. And the optimum value of the LC resonant filter parameters considering both efficient and performance is analysed. Simulation and experimental results verify the satisfactory operation of the converter.

선택적 충전방식 전하펌프를 사용한 LED 램프 조광구동 기술 (Driving Method for Dimming of LED Lamps using Selectively Charged Charge Pump)

  • A new LED lamp driving technology with a charge pump instead of a conventional DC-DC converter is proposed. The proposed driving technology is used to control the LED lamp with digital dimming. The power loss in the zener diodes is reduced because the charging process of the capacitors is selectively controlled according to the digital control signal. From the experimental results, when dimming four LED lamps simultaneously, the average driving circuit efficiency of 89% is obtained, regardless of the dimming level. White light with color temperature over a range of 2800~7200K was produced by dimming control of red, green, blue and amber LED lamps with the proposed driving circuit. The characteristics of the driving circuits can be changed depending on the characteristics of the R, G, B, and A LED lamps. The efficiency of the driving circuits up to a maximum 89% can also be obtained depending on the combination of LED lamps. The driving technology with digital dimming control for LED lamps proposed in this paper would be effective for obtaining high efficiency in LED driving circuits and remote control of LED lamps using digital communications.

  • In this paper, a single-switch ZVZCS quasi-resonant CLL isolated DC-DC converter for driving a low-power (less than 100 W) 32'' LED backlighting liquid crystal display television (LCD TV) is proposed. The proposed converter exhibits both forward and flyback operational characteristics. All semiconductors are activated and deactivated under the soft switching conditions during the switching transition without additional active devices. The switching frequency varies less than about 10 kHz for load variations, leading to minimizing the efficiency reduction under light load. Furthermore, the low di/dt and dv/dt by soft switching enhance the electromagnetic interference (EMI) performance above 1 MHz. A theoretical analysis is described in detail, and a 72-W prototype converter verifies the validity of the analysis.

  • 높은 효율과 긴 수명 등으로 형광등을 대체하며 차세대 조명기구로 각광받고 있는 LED 는 필수불가결적으로 PFC 및 DC-DC 컨버터 등으로 구성된 구동회로가 필요하다. 일반적으로 이러한 LED 구동회로의 조건으로 전체 90 % 이상의 고효율이 요구되고 있으나 Two-Stage 로 구성된 구동회로의 하드 스위칭에 따른 손실 및 기타 요건들에 의한 전력소모로 인해 실질적으로 완벽하게 조건을 달성하기 까다롭다. 최근에는 이러한 구동조건을 달성하기 위해 브릿지리스 PFC 컨버터를 적용한 Two-Stage 를 사용하거나 순환 전류 및 스위칭 손실이 보다 적은 LLC 공진 컨버터를 LED 용 구동회로에 접목하는 추세이다. 이에 따라서 본 논문은 LED 조명용 Single-stage LLC 공진 컨버터를 구성하여 동작특성을 분석하였다.

Design of a Converter with Anti-blinking Circuitry for T5 LED Indirect Lighting

  • We address the problematic issue of blinking in residential LED lighting systems-a phenomenon that has recently become a significant concern due to voltage sags caused by high-power household appliances. To combat this, we developed a two-stage LED converter with integrated anti-blinking circuitry, specifically designed for T5 LED indirect lighting fixtures. The first stage employs a Power Factor Correction (PFC) boost circuit to enhance voltage stability by aligning the voltage and current phases, thereby minimizing power losses. The second stage, a meticulously engineered DC-DC buck converter, ensures stable lighting despite electrical fluctuations. Rigorous testing has confirmed our converter's efficacy in maintaining consistent light output without blinking, thereby substantially improving user comfort and adhering to strict standards for harmonic distortion and electromagnetic compatibility. Our breakthrough provides a robust solution to a pressing issue, marking a significant advancement in LED lighting technology.

  • Currently high power Light Emitting Diode (LED) is in the limelight due to its characteristics of long durability, low maintenance costs, and high efficiency. Furthermore, it does not emit pollutants or poisonous gases and is a light source not using mercury, so it holds a high status in eco-friendly terms as well. In this paper, we studied a two-stage LED power drive circuit that can compensate only voltage regulation through LED output current, in order to improve efficiency of LED drive with constant current control in accordance with changes in temperature. The proposed LED drive has an advantage of reducing LED drive's voltage losses by controlling only voltage change of input power, compared with an existing circuit which controls input voltage. The suggested non-insulation compensating circuit for voltage change was verified to have improved efficiency relative to a LED drive using existing DC/DC converter.

AC/DC 12~254 V로 동작하는 방폭 LED Signal Lamp용 방폭 회로의 특성 분석 (Characteristic Analysis of a Ex Circuit of Ex LED Signal Lamp Operating with AC/DC 12~254 V)

  • In this paper, we develop a explosion-proof LED lighting (Ex circuit) circuit of Explosion-proof LED Signal Lamp (Ex LSL) to utilize the core module of the explosion-proof Local Control System (Ex LCS) for offshore plant applications. And then analyzed its electrical, optical and thermal characteristics. Ex circuit was applied input voltage from AC/DC(12~254) V. In this experiments, stable light-on characteristics were confirmed by eyes for the every input voltages with min. 78,462 and max. $517,975cd/m^2$ of luminance. also Output current and output luminance was made proportional. Because the measured maximum surface temperature of Ex circuit was $54.23^{\circ}C$ at AC 48 V, Ex circuit was rated with T6 of temperature class. Finally, Ex circuit was shown stable light on characteristics under the $-50^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$ during 12 hours of test period.

높은 역률을 가지는 단순 구조 LED 구동 전력컨버터 (Simple Structure LED-Driving Power Converter with High Power Factor)

  • 본 논문에서는 높은 역률을 가지는 단순 구조 LED 구동 직류 전력컨버터를 제안한다. 제안한 전력컨버터는 PFC 부스트 컨버터와 전통적인 플라이백 컨버터를 오직 하나의 전력변환 회로로 병합함으로써 LED 구동 전력컨버터의 구조를 단순화한다. 그리하여 제안한 컨버터는 오직 하나의 PWM 제어기 IC를 이용하여 제어되고 높은 역률과 정출력 전압/전류 및 제작비용의 효율성을 달성한다. 따라서 제안한 컨버터는 LED 조명시스템의 산업 생산과 이용에 적합하다. 본 논문에서는 제안한 컨버터의 동작분석과 설계예시를 간단하게 설명한다. 또한 설계된 회로파라미터들에 근거하여 제작된 프로토타입의 실험결과를 통하여 제안한 컨버터의 동작특성을 입증한다.

옥외용 LED 조명의 전기화재 위험성 평가기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Electrical Fire Risk Assessment Methods of LED Lightings for Outdoor)

  • In this paper, we experimented and analyzed about electric fire risk assessment methods of LED lightings for outdoor. LED lighting is composed of AC power lines, AC/DC converter, DC power lines and LED lamps. There are some risk factors of electric fire in LED lighting such as short circuit between power lines or power line and ground, dielectric breakdown, leakage current, abnormal voltage inflow, poor contacts(connections), etc. As a result of this study, insulation coverings of wire was ignited due to dielectric breakdown between power lines and molten marks were formed in copper conductor. LED lighting was blown out while short circuit, beside that, electrical disorder did not occur. When abnormal voltage was inflowed, electronic components such as varistor, condenser were damaged. Partial heating was produced and insulation was melted and carbonized by arc and heating while poor contacts were happened. We expect that the results of this study would be helpful for electrical safety of LED lightings for outdoor.

전류 제어 방식을 갖는 DC-DC 변환기의 가변 기울기 보상 회로에 대한 연구

  • 본 논문에서는 전류 제어 방식을 갖는 DC-DC 변환기에 사용되는 기울기 보상회로에 있어서 가변적으로 동작하는 기울기 보상회로를 제안하였다. 시비율이 50% 이상으로 동작하는 DC-DC 변환기의 시스템의 안정도를 유지하기 위해서는, 램프 기울기 보상회로가 반드시 필요하다. 고정적인 기울기의 보상은 동작 범위를 제한하게 된다. 제안된 가변 기울기 보상회로는 넓은 범위의 입력 전압과 출력 전압에 적합하도록 설계 되었으며, LED 드라이버 응용분야에 적용하기 위한 DC-DC 변환기에 사용되었다. 동작을 검증하기 위하여, 0.35-um BDC 공정으로 회로를 제작하여 측정하였다.
