Optimal Design of a MW Class SCSG for a Tidal Current Power Generation System

  • A superconducting synchronous generator (SCSG) can be expected to decrease the size and weight compared to conventional tidal current generators. This paper proposes an optimal design of a 2 MW class SCSG for a tidal current power generation system. The proposed optimal design of the SCSG will reduce the length of the high-temperature superconducting wire as well as the weight and volume of the SCSG. The 3D finite element method is used to analyze the magnetic field distribution. The optimized 2 MW SCSG is compared with a 2 MW conventional generator. As the optimized SCSG is more compact and lighter than a conventional generator, it will be efficiently applied to practical tidal power systems.

  • In this paper we propose a method for designing optimum degradation test based on nonlinear random-coefficients models. We use the approximated expression of the Fisher information matrix for nonlinear random-coefficients models. We apply the simplex algorithm to the inverse of the determinant of Fisher information matrix to satisfy the D-optimal criterion. By comparison of the results from PDP degradation data, we suggest a general guideline to obtain optimum experimental design for determining inspection intervals and number of samples in degradation testing.

  • The reheating of the billet in the semi-solid state as quickly and homogeneously as possible is one of the most imposrtant parts. To obtain a fine globular microstructure in cross section of billet, the optimal design of the induction coil for variation of alloys and specimen sizes is necessary. For the thixo-forging process the construction of the reheating data base is very important, because the reheating conditions are different for variation of SSM and billet sizes. So in this study, the optimal coil design of A356 (ALTHIX) and Aι2024 with d×ι=60×90 (mm) to obtain the globular microstructure is theoretically proposed. The suitability of an optimal coil design will be demonstrated by reheating experiments. Finally, the thixoformability of an arbitrarily shaped product is evaluated by its forming variables. The defects and mechanical properties are also investigated.

  • In this paper we design the model following ${\mu}$-synthesis control system for optimal fuel-injection of diesel engine using genetic algorithms. To do this, we give gain and dynamics parameters to the weighting functions and apply genetic algorithms with reference model to the optimal determination of weighting functions that are given by D-K iteration method which can design ${\mu}$-synthesis controller in the state space. These weighting functions are optimized simultaneously in the search domain selected adequately. The effectiveness of this ${\mu}$-synthesis control system for fuel-injection is verified by computer simulation.

  • Recently, the amount of spring usage is on the increase in the automotive and aircraft parts industries as well as home appliances. Manufacture of spring reflects a need for diversification, mass production and high precision. Therefore it is very important to know the bending method and forming technique according to the shape of spring. In this study, to find the optimal bending method for the motor spring, the FE-simulation was executed using orthogonal array. The design parameters are wire length, length of vibration and feed rate. Then, the optimal combination of design parameters was suggested using ANN technique.

3D Topology Optimization of Fixed Offshore Structure and Experimental Validation

  • In this study, we performed a three-dimensional (3D) topology optimization of a fixed offshore structure to enhance its structural stiffness. The proposed topology optimization is based on the solid isotropic material with penalization (SIMP) method, where a volume constraint is applied to utilize an equivalent amount of material as that used for the rule-based scantling design. To investigate the effects of the main legs of the fixed offshore structure on its structural stiffness, the leg region is selectively considered in the design domain of the topology optimization problem. The obtained optimal designs and the rule-based scantling design of the structure are manufactured by 3D metal printing technology to experimentally validate the topology optimization. The behaviors under compressive loading of the obtained optimal designs are compared with those of the rule-based scantling design using a universal testing machine (UTM). Based on the structural experiments, we concluded that by employing the topology optimization method, the structural stiffness of the structure was enhanced compared to that of the rule-based scantling design for an equal amount of the fabrication material. Furthermore, by effectively combining the topology optimization and rule-based scantling methods, we succeeded in enhancing the structural stiffness and improving the breaking load of the fixed offshore structure.

단단 천음속 축류압축기 동익의 Stacking Line 설계 최적화 (Optimal Design for Stacking Line of Rotor Blade in a Single-Stage Transonic Axial Compressor)

  • Shape optimization of a rotor blade in a single-stage transonic axial compressor has been performed using a response surface method and three-dimensional Navier-Stokes analysis. Two shape variables of the rotor blade, which are used to define a blade skew, are introduced to increase an adiabatic efficiency. Throughout the shape optimization of a rotor blade, the adiabatic efficiency is increased to about 2.2 percent compared to that of the reference shape of the stator. The increase in efficiency for the optimal shape of the rotor is due to the pressure enhancement, which is mainly caused by moving the separation position on the suction surface of rotor blade to the downstream direction.

승용차용 브레이크 Tube-End의 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Design of the Brake Tube-End for Automobiles)

  • Brake tube is considered one of the most important parts in automobile. The shape of brake tube-end has a great influence on the function of brake, and the quality and productivity of brake tube have relation to die design. The forming process of brake tube-end is peformed by hydraulic press forming machine. In this paper, the forming processes of tube-end for automobile is analyzed and designed to make the optimal form of brake tube-end. Also, finite element analysis has been carried out using DEFORM-3D$\^$TM/ to predict the optimal shape of brake tube-end and the results obtained showed the optimal length between punch and chuck is 1.0 ∼ 1.2mm. The shape of tube-end is in good agreement with the finite element simulations and the experimental results.

  • CNG 압력용기 제조를 위한 딥드로잉 공정에 사용되는 트랙트릭스 다이는 블랭크 홀더 없이 성형을 가능하게 한다. 기존의 연구에서는 D.D.I. 공정의 1차 딥드로잉 공정에 트랙트릭스 곡선을 다이에 적용하였을 뿐, 다이의 수명향상 및 제조원가 절감을 위한 형상 최적화에 관한 연구는 전무한 실정이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 트랙트릭스 곡선의 점근선 이동을 통하여 다이의 높이에 따른 딥드로잉 공정의 유한요소해석을 수행하였다. 또한 펀치의 성형하중에 따른 다이 응력집중부의 Von-Mises 응력을 분석하여 최적의 트랙트릭스 다이 형상을 제시하였다.

소형화 및 슬림형에 적합한 평면 플라이백 변압기의 최적 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Design of Planar Flyback Transformers suitable for Small-size and Low-profile)

  • 본 논문에서는 10W급 Tablet용 AC to DC Adapter의 소형화 및 슬림형에 적합한 평면 Flyback 변압기 최적화 설계에 대해서 나타낸다. 또한 본 논문에서는 수동권선의 기존 양산 Flyback 변압기에 비해 자동권선, Trans 크기 저감 및 누설 인덕턴스(Lk) 저감이 가능한 Hybrid형 사출 권선 변압기와 Drum형 사출 권선 변압기를 제안한다. 특히 본 논문에서 제안한 Drum형 사출 권선 변압기는 Hybrid형 사출 권선 변압기 2차측의 동판 사출 권선 접속 문제를 해결하기 위하여 변압기를 수평으로 눕힌 형태로 구성하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 Hybrid형 사출 권선 변압기와 Drum형 사출 권선 변압기의 1차측과 2차측 권선은 각각 기존 권선과 동판 사출 권선을 사용하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 Hybrid형 사출 권선 변압기와 Drum형 사출권선 변압기에 대해 Maxwell 2D 및 3D Tool을 이용하여 소형화 및 슬림형에 적합한 평면 Flyback 변압기 최적화 설계를 수행하였다.
