The Study on the Assesment Greenhouse Gases and Air Pollutants of Diesel Vehicle according to Ambient Temperature and Driving Condition (대기온도와 운전조건에 따른 디젤자동차의 차량 온실가스 및 대기오염물질 배출특성에 관한 연구)

  • As the interest on the air pollution is gradually risen up at home and abroad, their vehicle emission regulations have been reinforcing by steps. PM regulation was also reinforced 4times for the last 13years and has been applied to SI vehicles after EURO 5. Additionally, knowing that small particles of PM can easily penetrate deep into lungs PM number was added on the regulation from EURO5+ and is applied to CI vehicles. Also, PN regulation is going to be applied to SI vehicles. But, because the regulation is appled to only a general test mode of each countries that is performed at $25{\pm}5^{\circ}C$, it is unclear whether the regulation can work on the other ambient temperature conditions or not. In this paper, to know that exhaust emission characteristics at the special conditions CI vehicles(CRDi w, w/o DPF) were tested using 5-cycle mode, NEDC mode at 5-ambient temperatures (35, 25, 0, -7 and -15) and the exhaust emission test results were discussed. The results show that the vehicle with DPF emits much low PM(and PM number) on all of the test mode. However, NOx of the other mode was emitted higher than regulation mode. Also. NOx was sharply increased according to decreasing Ambient Temperature.

A 0.13 ${\mu}m$ CMOS UWB RF Transmitter with an On-Chip T/R Switch

  • This paper presents a fully integrated 0.13 ${\mu}m$ CMOS MB-OFDM UWB transmitter chain (mode 1). The proposed transmitter consists of a low-pass filter, a variable gain amplifier, a voltage-to-current converter, an I/Q up-mixer, a differential-to-single-ended converter, a driver amplifier, and a transmit/receive (T/R) switch. The proposed T/R switch shows an insertion loss of less than 1.5 dB and a Tx/Rx port isolation of more than 27 dB over a 3 GHz to 5 GHz frequency range. All RF/analog circuits have been designed to achieve high linearity and wide bandwidth. The proposed transmitter is implemented using IBM 0.13 ${\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The fabricated transmitter shows a -3 dB bandwidth of 550 MHz at each sub-band center frequency with gain flatness less than 1.5 dB. It also shows a power gain of 0.5 dB, a maximum output power level of 0 dBm, and output IP3 of +9.3 dBm. It consumes a total of 54 mA from a 1.5 V supply.

The investigation of rock cutting simulation based on discrete element method

  • It is well accepted that rock failure mechanism influence the cutting efficiency and determination of optimum cutting parameters. In this paper, an attempt was made to research the factors that affect the failure mechanism based on discrete element method (DEM). The influences of cutting depth, hydrostatic pressure, cutting velocity, back rake angle and joint set on failure mechanism in rock-cutting are researched by PFC2D. The results show that: the ductile failure occurs at shallow cutting depths, the brittle failure occurs as the depth of cut increases beyond a threshold value. The mean cutting forces have a linear related to the cutting depth if the cutting action is dominated by the ductile mode, however, the mean cutting forces are deviate from the linear relationship while the cutting action is dominated by the brittle mode. The failure mechanism changes from brittle mode with larger chips under atmospheric conditions, to ductile mode with crushed chips under hydrostatic conditions. As the cutting velocity increases, a grow number of micro-cracks are initiated around the cutter and the volume of the chipped fragmentation is decreasing correspondingly. The crack initiates and propagates parallel to the free surface with a smaller rake angle, but with the rake angle increases, the direction of crack initiation and propagation is changed to towards the intact rock. The existence of joint set have significant influence on crack initiation and propagation, it makes the crack prone to propagate along the joint.

  • Design consideration on electric drivetrain(E-D/T), usually referred as electric motor for driving, its compatible reduction gear, and inverter, are performed for developing electric vehicle(EV) with efficient driving performance. Universal mode of driving cycle has been used to make up the actual vehicle performance, and its results are incorporated to the design of E-D/T.

  • The objective of this study is do obtain the relationship between the acoustic mode and cavity tone induced in a perforated tube exhaust muffler. First, the modal frequency for the axisymmetric radial mode and the mode shape have been computed using the impedance model for the perforated tube. Then, experiment has been perfonned for the onset frequencies of the cavity tone for various design parameters and through-flow. The theoretically obtained modal frequencies are well consistent with the measured onset frequencies of the cavity tone, showing that the cavity tone is induced by the axisymmetric radial mode. And it is found that the modal frequency of a perforated tube muffler is much lower than that of a simple expansion chamber.

  • Transverse acoustic mode in annular combustion chambers affects air-fuel mixing characteristics in the nozzle and can result in heat release fluctuations in the combustor. In addition, the acoustic mode coupling between the nozzle and the combustion chamber is one of the key parameters determining combustion instability phenomenon in the annular combustor. In this study, acoustic coupling between the nozzle and annular combustor was numerically analyzed using 3D-based in house FEM code. As a result, it was found that the acoustic mode inside the combustion chamber at anti-node locations of the transverse mode was strongly influenced by the nozzle inlet boundary conditions.

  • Among after treatment devices which reduce exhaust gas of diesel engine, diesel oxidation catalyst(DOC) with high reduction efficiency for gaseous matter and particulate matter is now being studied actively. In this study, an experiment was conducted to analyze the effects on factors of oxidaton characteristics and conversion efficiency of DOC. We tested to estimate change of engine performance whether a 11,000cc diesel engine equipps with DOC or not. We conducted test to estimate the reduction efficiency of exhaust gas in P-5 mode, in D-13 mode of heavy duty diesel regulation mode and in somoke opacity mode for two samples and also we conducted test to analyze the effects about both exhaust gas velocities 1,100rpm and 2,200rpm

Design of an Active Inductor-Based T/R Switch in 0.13 μm CMOS Technology for 2.4 GHz RF Transceivers

  • A high-performance transmit/receive (T/R) switch is essential for every radio-frequency (RF) device. This paper proposes a T/R switch that is designed in the CEDEC 0.13 μm complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology for 2.4 GHz ISM-band RF applications. The switch exhibits a 1 dB insertion loss, a 28.6 dB isolation, and a 35.8 dBm power-handling capacity in the transmit mode; meanwhile, for the 1.8 V/0 V control voltages, a 1.1 dB insertion loss and a 19.4 dB isolation were exhibited with an extremely-low power dissipation of 377.14 μW in the receive mode. Besides, the variations of the insertion loss and the isolation of the switch for a temperature change from - 25℃ to 125℃ are 0.019 dB and 0.095 dB, respectively. To obtain a lucrative performance, an active inductor-based resonant circuit, body floating, a transistor W/L optimization, and an isolated CMOS structure were adopted for the switch design. Further, due to the avoidance of bulky inductors and capacitors, a very small chip size of 0.0207 mm2 that is the lowest-ever reported chip area for this frequency band was achieved.

  • The in situ target strength for the anchovy (Engraulis japonica) were measured by the split beam echo sounder system at 38 kHz. This study allowed us to detect the single echos from anchovy shoals which were dispersed during trawling operation in day time. The results of our study were as fellows: We found that the anchouy occupied about $95\%$ of the total catch from the detected shoals from which target strength data were collected. Length distribution of anchovy showed a mode and ranged from 13.6 to 15.4cm with a mean of 14.4cm and a standard deviation of 0.45cm, and weight distribution showed a mode and ranged from 16 to 28 g witha mean of 21.9 g and a standard deviation of 2.7 g. The target strength distribution of anchovy ranged from -40.7 dB to -69.2 dB in the water layer of ,$10\~30\;m$ -42.19 to -67.7 dB in the $30\~50\;m$ and -42.2 to -67.7 dB in $10\~50\;m$, showing 2 modes in each layer, respectively. Overall mean target strengths were -49.7 dB/fish and -33.1 dB/kg, averaged by area backscattering cross section $(\sigma)$, and the confidence interval for target strength was less than 1 dB. With the mean total length and the mean target strength, we drived the target strength-length relationship as $TS(\sigma)=20\;Log\;L-72.9$.

Effective Design of the Broadband Horn Antenna Using Multi-mode Network Analysis (다중모드 회로망 분석을 이용한 광대역 혼 안테나의 효율적인 설계)

  • This paper proposes the effective design procedure for a broadband, double-ridged horn antenna for evaluating the performance of the RF energy harvesting system with a multi-band rectenna. Using multi-mode network analysis, the higher-mode scattering parameters of the transition and horn were acquired and applied to the antenna design, respectively. As a result, the computing time could be reduced and the calculated VSWR(voltage standing wave ratio) of the antenna was very similar to the analyzed result using fully electromagnetic simulation. And there was also good agreement between the simulated and measured results. The designed broadband antenna has a bandwidth of 660~6360 MHz and 6~13.7 dBi peak radiation gain.
