A Study on Improving Efficiency of Power Amplifier using Doherty Theory for Wireless Network and Repeater (도허티 이론을 이용한 무선 네트워크 및 중계기용 전력증폭기의 효율 향상에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, Doherty amplifier is designed by the need of improving the linearity and efficiency of wireless network and repeater for WCDMA. It is designed to maintain the high linearity and efficiency at the low efficiency period of the power amplifier after analyzing Doherty technique using the active load-pull in condition of the high efficiency power amplifier implementation according to the variation of input power. CW 1-tone experimental results at the WCDMA frequency 2.11$\~$2.17 CHz shows that Doherty amplifier, which achieves pore. add efficiency(PAE) 50$\%$ at 6dB back off the point from maximum output power 52.3dBm, obtains higher efficiency of 13.3$\%$ than class AB. finding optimum bias point after adjusted gate voltage, Doherty amplifier shows that IMD3 improves 4dB.

  • In fabricated linear power amplifier(LPA), the third-order inter-modulation distortion(IMD) for main amplifier alone is 10.61dBc, and the IMD for LPA with predistorter and feedforward loop combined is 32.50dBc. Therefore, the IMD characteristic results an improvement of approximately 22dB. The main amplifier efficiency with single tone input is close to 30%, and the efficiency of the overall LPA with predistorter is 27.4% and predicted feedforward loop efficiency without predistorter is about 20%. Therefore, LPA with predistorter and feedforward loop combined is improved by 7.4%.

Design of High Efficiency Doherty Power Amplifier Using Adaptive Bias Technique for Wibro Applications (적응형 바이어스 기법을 이용한 와이브로용 고효율 도허티 전력증폭기 설계)

  • In this paper, the high efficiency Doherty power amplifier using adaptive bias technique has been designed and realized for 2.3GHz Wibro applications. The RF performances of the Doherty power amplifier using adaptive bias technique have been compared with those of a class AB amplifier alone, and conventional Doherty amplifier. The Maximum PAE of designed Doherty power amplifier with adaptive bias technique has been 36.6% at 34.0dBm output power. The proposed Doherty power amplifier showed an improvement 1dB at output power and 7.6% PAE than a class AB amplifier alone.

  • Volumetric display has many applications recently in education, 3D movie, medical images but these applications have several problems that need to be overcome. Volumetric display may process a amount of visual data and design the high efficient vision system for realtime display. The stereo data for volumetric display estimated the disparity vectors from the stereoscopic sequences has been transmitted the disparity vectors, motion vectors and residual images with the reference images, and the stereoscopic sequences have been reconstructed at the receiver for 3D display. Central issue for efficient 3D display lies in selecting an appropriate stereo matching with robust vision system. In this paper, high efficient vision system is proposed for efficient stereo image matching and the experimental results represent high efficiency for proposed 3D display system.

  • The needs of active phased arrays antenna system is getting more increased for IMT-Advanced system efficiency. The active phased array structure consists of lots of small transceivers and radiation elements to increase system efficiency. The minimized module of high efficiency transceiver is key for system implementation. The power amplifier of transmitter decides efficiency of base-station. In this paper, we design and implement minimized module of high efficiency transceiver for IMT-Advanced active phased array system. The temperature compensation circuit of transceiver reduces gain error and the analog pre-distorter of linearizer reduces implemented size. For minimal size and high efficiency, the implented power amplifier consist of GaN MMIC Doherty structure. The size of implemented module is $40mm{\times}90mm{\times}50mm$ and output power is 47.65 dBm at LTE band 7. The efficiency of power amplifier is 40.7% efficiency and ACLR compensation of linearizer is above 12dB at operating power level, 37dBm. The noise figure of transceiver is under 1.28 dB and amplitude error and phase error on 6 bit control is 0.38 dB and 2.77 degree respectively.

Adverse Selection in the Government R&D Support for Venture Business : Evidence from the Managerial Efficiency Comparison of the Recipient and Non-recipient of R&D Grants (정부의 벤처기업 R&D 지원에서의 역선택 가능성에 관한 연구 : 정부 R&D 수혜기업과 비수혜기업 간 경영효율성 비교를 중심으로)

  • Recently, government policy focuses on R&D subsidies for venture firms in the early and medium stage. However, due to the 'asymmetric information' on those firms, a concern about the possibility of adverse selection of government policy, that is, whether the R&D subsidies are offered to the less-growth potential venture firms is on the rise. Therefore, based on the "2015 venture firm's survey" data in Korea, we compared the managerial efficiency of venture firms in manufacturing sectors by dividing them into beneficiary and non-beneficiary groups at government R&D subsidies. We found that the beneficiary groups showed lower managerial efficiency than non-beneficiary groups, even if they are superior to non-beneficiary groups in technological performance. We also observed that the phenomenon involve 'low managerial efficiency in the beneficiary groups' is more relevant in mid-high tech. manufacturing sectors. Our findings provide an exploratory empirical evidence of the concern about adverse selection in the selection of R&D subsidies beneficiary groups. Therefore, the government should consider managerial performance as the key criteria for selecting R&D subsidies beneficiary groups, rather than depending on technological performance solely. Furthermore, the government should develop other complementary policies to support financial performance of the groups. Lastly, the government should make those policies attract venture firms with potential to achieve financial performance.

Studying Major Factor Using PC1D Simulation for Optimization of Solar Cell (PC1D 시뮬레이션을 이용해 태양전지 효율 최적화를 위한 주요 인자 연구)

  • 결정질 실리콘 웨이퍼를 이용한 고효율 태양전지를 제작하기 위해서는 반드시 고려해야 할 주요 인자들이 있다. 그 중에서도 Base resistivity, Thickness, Doping concentration, Texture size, Texture angle등의 주요 인자를 PC1D 시뮬레이션 프로그램을 이용하여 최적화 해 보았다. 그 결과, Base resistivity값은 낮을수록 좋으나 지나치게 낮을 경우 재결합으로 인해 효율이 떨어지기 때문에 Base resistivity = $1{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$에서 최대 효율을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한, Thickness는 두꺼울수록 R=${\rho}$(L/A)의 식에 의해 직렬저항이 증가하여 효율이 감소하므로 Thickness = $200{\mu}m$ 정도가 적정 값임을 확인할 수 있었다. Doping concentration의 경우 높을수록 재결합으로 인해 효율이 떨어지며 Doping concentration = $3.69{\times}10^{-20}cm^{-3}$에서 가장 좋은 효율을 보였다. Textrure size와 Textrure angle은 그 값이 클수록 빛의 흡수 정도가 증가해 효율이 증가함을 볼 수 있었고 Textrure size = $2{\sim}4{\mu}m$, Texture angle = $79^{\circ}$에서 높은 효율을 보여주었다. 이와 같은 조건에서 고효율 태양전지를 제작을 위한 시뮬레이션을 한 결과, 16.23%의 변환효율을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • To explore the answer on how the evaluators' network affects efficiency of National R&D Program, this paper analyzes the network of evaluators who attended the peer-review committee for National Nuclear R&D Program from 2007 to 2008. The result derived from network analysis was applied to measure the efficiency of programs by Data Envelopment Analysis. The result shows that the weaker network produces higher efficiency as much as the research result itself. Along with the expertise of evaluators themselves, this paper implies that network should be considered as a main item for evaluation.

  • The use of roadheaders has been increasing to mitigate the problems of noise and vibration during tunneling operations in urban area. Since lack of experience of roadheader for hard rock, the selection of appropriate machines and the evaluation of cutting rates have been challenging. Currently, empirical models developed overseas are commonly used to evaluate cutting rates, but their effectiveness has not been verified for domestic rocks. In this paper, a comprehensive literature review was conducted to assess the rock cutting force, cutterhead capacity, and cutting rate to select the appropriate machine and evaluate its performance. The cutterhead capacity was reviewed based on the literature results for the site. Furthermore, a new empirical model and simplified method for predicting cutting rates were proposed through data analysis in relation to operation time and rock strength, and compared with those of the conventional model from the manufacturer. The results show good agreement for high strength range upper 80 MPa of uniaxial compressive strength.

  • 본 논문에서는 집적 영상을 효율적으로 압축하는 방법을 제안한다. 렌즈 어레이를 이용하여 획득되는 집적 영상은 3차원 영상을 기록하고 표현하는 기술 중에 하나이다. 3차원 영상의 복원은 각 요소영상의 해상도에 의해 많은 영향을 받음에 따라 효율적인 집적영상 압축은 매우 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 제안된 방법은 3D 이산 코사인 변환(3D-DCT)를 기반으로 하고 있다. 3D-DCT는 렌즈 어레이로 촬영된 인접 영상들 간의 교차 상관도를 이용하여 영상간 중복성을 줄여 압축 효율을 향상시킬 수 있는 방법이다. 제안방법은 인접 영상들 간의 교차 상관도를 고려하여, 동일 위치의 픽셀들로 $8{\times}8$ DCT블록을 재구성하여 3D-DCT를 수행한다. 제안 방법은 기존의 JPEG이나 기존의 3D-DCT를 이용한 방법과 비교해 더 좋은 성능을 보여준다.
