The development of the lobe pattern in the human dentition plays a part in the form and function of each individual teeth. In order to determin the morphological categories used to describe the occlusal surfaces of the maxillary and mandibular molars, the variation of the developmental grooves which separate each lobe in the molars was examined and analysed. The obtained conclusions were as follow. 1. Most of the maxillary first molars with more distinct and more developmental grooves than the other molars but in most cases of the third molar, a heart-shaped outline due to poorly developed or abscent distolingual cusp was most frequent and in this case the third molar had the 3 cusps separated by the central developmental groove and the buccal developmental groove. 2. In most cases, the mandibular first molar had the 5-cusp type that the groove patter resembles a Y, the second molar the 4-cusp type arranged in such a way that the buccal and lingual developmental grooves meet the central developmental groove at right angle on the occlusal surface and many instances of the mandibular third molars had the 5-cusp thpe with a+groove pattern which separatess the mesiolingual cusp from the distobuccal cusp and the 4-cusp type with a+groove pattern. 3. The maxillary and mandibular third molar were most variable in the developmental groove.
This study aimed to qualitative analyze the cusp variation pattern of the mandibular second premolars using a three-dimensional virtual models, and to analyze the left-right bilateral symmetry with a quantitative analysis of the tooth surface area according to the cusp variation. 127 virtual mandibular second premolars were prepared and individual absolute/relative cusp area, total crown area and groove form were analyzed using RapidForm2004(INUS technology INC, Seoul, Korea). Independent t-test, Kruskal-Wallis test and chi-square were performed. As a result, the groove form showed high bilateral symmetry between the left and right sides. Based on the left side of groove form, the bilateral symmetry was 100.0% for the U pattern, and 73.7% for the H patterned, and 78.9% for the Y pattern(p<.001). The finding could be as a meaningful reference for manufacturing CAD/CAM dental prostheses, and it is expected that further studies will be conducted on more samples including the mandibular second premolar immediately after eruption.
Purpose: This study aims to investigate the cusp variation pattern of the Korean mandibular second premolar and to determine the difference in tooth diameter and surface area using a virtual three-dimensional model. Methods: Dental casts from 69 students were scanned as a virtual dental models with a three-dimensional dental model scanner. Tooth diameter, absolute and relative individual areas, total crown area, the number of lingual cusps and central groove pattern were analyzed using RapidForm 2004. The Mann-Whitney U-test and the Kruskal-Wallis test were performed to verify sexual dimorphism, the difference in tooth diameter and surface according to the cusp variation pattern (α=0.05). Results: There was no significant difference except in buccolingual diameter (p<0.05) and buccolingual diameter at the cervix (p<0.05). The relative surface area of the total clinical crown was 65.76% for the buccal half and 34.24% for the lingual half, with a ratio of 2:1. In the case of the presence of two lingual cusps, the ratio was 21.47% for the mesiolingual half and 14.12% for the distaolingual half, with a ratio of 3:2. The dominant central groove patterns of the second premolar were the H-pattern (42.0%), followed by the Y-pattern (37.7%), then the U-pattern (20.3%). The relative buccal half was largest in the U-pattern central groove and the relative lingual half was largest in the Y-pattern central groove (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study is significant in that it measured quantitative surface areas and the findings could be a meaningful reference to comprehend dental anatomy in Koreans.

Using the measured data of waves and shore-line, we reviewed the grand circulation process and seasonal variation of beach cusp at the Mang-Bang beach from the perspective of trapped mode Edge waves known as the driving mechanism of beach cusp. In order to track the temporal and spatial variation trends of beach cusp, we quantify the beach cusp in terms of its wave length and amplitude detected by threshold crossing method. In doing so, we also utilize the spectral analysis method and its associated spectral mean sand wave number. From repeated period of convergence and ensuing splitting of sand waves detected from the yearly time series of spectral mean sand wave number of beach cusp, it is shown that the grand circulation process of beach cusp at Mang-Bang beach are occurring twice from 2017. 4. 26 to 2018. 4. 20. For the case of beach area, it increased by $14,142m^2$ during this period, and the shore-line advanced by 18 m at the northen and southern parts of the Mang-Bang beach whereas the shore-line advanced by 2.4 m at the central parts of Mang-Bang beach. It is also worthy of note that the beach area rapidly increased by $30,345m^2$ from 2017.11.26. to 2017.12.22. which can be attributed to the nature of coming waves. During this period, mild swells of long period were prevailing, and their angle of attack were next to zero. These characteristics of waves imply that the main transport mode of sediment would be the cross-shore. Considering the facts that self-healing capacity of natural beaches is realized via the cross-shore sediment once temporarily eroded. it can be easily deduced that the sediment carried by the boundary layer streaming toward the shore under mild swells which normally incident toward the Mang-Bang beach makes the beach area rapidly increase from 2017.11.26. to 2017.12.22.

The boundary element method is applied to determine thermal stress intensity factors for a cusp crack in transient state. In the steady temperature field, numerical values of thermal stress intensity factors for a Grifith crack and a symmetric lip cusp crack in a finite body are in good agreement within .+-. 5% with the previous solutions. In transient state, the numerical values of thermal stress intensity factors for the Griffith crack are also in good agreement with the pervious solutions. In both steady and transient states, those for the symmetric lip cusp crack with the crack surface insulated or fixed to the constant temperature are calculates for various effective crack lengths, configuration parameters and uniform heat flow angles. The variations of the thermal boundary conditions of the crack surface have a effect on stress intensity factors. The signs on the values of thermal stress intensity factors can be changed in time variation.

A numerical study was conducted on the optimum magnetic field intensity and asymmetric factor for uniform axial oxygen concentration in 8 inch silicon single crystal growing process by magnetic Czochralski method. For constant shape of cusp field, a change of coil and crucible position were compared. In case of symmetric cusp field, magnetic field intensity variation shows concave downward with crystal growing for uniform, axial oxygen concentration. A numerical results show similar value of standard deviation of average oxygen concentration for uniform oxygen concentration between coil and crucible position change. In case of asymmetric cusp field. asymmetric factor is increased with crystal growing to have uniform oxygen concentration.

The characteristics of flow and oxygen concentration are numerically studied in Czochralski 8" silicon crystal growing process considering radiative heat transfer. The analysis of net radiative heat flux on all relevant surfaces shows growing crystal affects the heater power. Furthermore, the variation of the radiative heat flux along the crystal surface in the growing direction is confirmed and should be a cause of thermal stress and defect of the crystal. The calculated distributions of temperature and, heat flux along the wall boundaries including melt/crystal interface, free surface and crucible wall indicate that the frequently used assumption of the thermal boundary conditions of insulated crucible bottom and constant temperature at crucible side wall is not suitable to meet the real physical boundary conditions. It is necessary, therefore, to calculate radiative heat transfer simultaneously with the melt flow in order to simulate the real CZ crystal growth. If only natural convection is considered, the oxygen concentration on the melt/crystal interface decreases and becomes uniform by the application of a cusp magnetic filed. The heater power needed also increases with increasing the magnetic field. For the case of counter rotation of the crystal and crucible, the magnetic field suppresses azimutal flow produced by the crucible rotation, which results in the higher oxygen concentration near the interface.

PURPOSE. To compare the accuracy of marginal and internal adaptation of zirconia (Zr) copings fabricated on anatomic (A), semi-anatomic (SA) and non-anatomic (NA) occlusal surface preparations. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 45 extracted bicuspid teeth were prepared for receiving zirconia crowns, with different occlusal preparation designs A=15, SA=15 & NA=15. The Zr copings were fabricated by using CAD4DENT, CAD/CAM. The copings were adjusted, cemented and were cross sectioned centrally from buccal cusp tip to lingual cusp tip into mesial and distal halves. The copings were examined under electron microscope at ${\times}200$ magnification and the measurements were recorded at 9 predetermined areas in micrometers. RESULTS. Overall mean gap values for the three groups was found to be $155.93{\pm}33.98{\mu}m$ with Anatomical Occlusal preparation design having the least gap value of $139.23{\pm}30.85{\mu}m$ showing the best adaptation among the groups. Post Hoc Tukey's test showed a statistically significant difference (P=.007) between the means of gap for A & NA preparation designs. Measurements recorded at 9 predetermined points showed variations for the three groups. CONCLUSION. Anatomical occlusal preparation designs resulted in better marginal and internal adaptation of Zr copings. There is a considerable variation between the measured marginal and internal gap values for the Zr copings fabricated by the (CAD4DENT-CAD/CAM). This variation may be associated with the lack of standardization of the preparation of teeth, computerized designing of the coping for each tooth, cement used, uniform pressure application during the cementation of the copings, sectioning of the copings and the microscopic measurements.

In this paper, the group velocity dispersion curves of the $S_o$ symmetric mode in unidirectional CFRP plate was calculated as varying the propagating direction. The group velocity curve was obtained with the group velocities of the $S_o$ symmetric mode corresponding to 0.2 MHz-mm under the first cut-off frequency in the dispersion curves, and corrected by introducing the slowness curve. The velocities of the $S_o$ symmetric mode in the unidirectional CFRP plate were measured as varying the propagating direction and compared with the col?rotted group velocity curve. The measured velocities were good agreement with the corrected group velocity curve except near the fiber direction which was called the cusp region. It implies that the direction of the group velocities incline toward the fiber direction of the unidirectional CFRP plates when the propagation direction is not accorded with the principal axis. It is supposed that this phenomenon rerults from the preferential propagating the energy toward the direction with the faster propagation velocity.
We investigate the sources of the variation of the high-latitude thermospheric neutral mass density depending on the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) conditions. For this purpose, we have carried out the National Center for Atmospheric Research Thermosphere-Ionosphere Electrodynamics General Circulation Model (NCAR-TIEGCM) simulations for various IMF conditions under summer condition in the southern hemisphere. The NCAR-TIEGCM is combined with a new empirical model that provides a forcing to the thermosphere in high latitudes. The difference of the high-latitude thermospheric neutral mass density (subtraction of the values for zero IMF condition from the values for non-zero IMF conditions) shows a dependence on the IMF condition: For negative $B_y$ condition, there are significantly enhanced difference densities in the dusk sector and around midnight. Under the positive-$B_y$ condition, there is a decrease in the early morning hours including the dawn side poleward of $-70^{\circ}$. For negative $B_z$, the difference of the thermospheric densities shows a strong enhancement in the cusp region and around midnight, but decreases in the dawn sector. In the dusk sector, those values are relatively larger than those in the dawn sector. The density difference under positive-$B_z$ condition shows decreases generally. The density difference is more significant under negative-$B_z$ condition than under positive-$B_z$ condition. The dependence of the density difference on the IMF conditions in high latitudes, especially, in the dawn and dusk sectors can be explained by the effect of thermospheric winds that are associated with the ionospheric convection and vary following the direction of the IMF. In auroral and cusp regions, heating of thermosphere by ionospheric currents and/or auroral particle precipitation can be also the source of the dependence of the density difference on the IMF conditions.
