  • This paper presents a digital control solution which can extract the reactor parameters in atmosphere plasma power supply. The critical issue of the atmosphere plasma power supply is a impedance matching. For the impedance matching, the reactor parameters should be known, but the parameters depend on the reactors. Therefore, the reactor parameters have to measure for the impedance matching. The proposed method is performed by detection of phase difference between inverter voltage and current, and extraction of impedance through active, reactive power.

  • An accurate threshold voltage extraction scheme for MOS transistors is presented. In contrast to alternative methods recently reported in the literature, this scheme does not need matched replica of the transistor under test, and thus can be applied more effectively and accurately to raal-time on-chip applications where threshold voltage measurements are required for many transistors with various geometries and bias conditions. The proposed scheme is accurately implemented in a matching-free way using a ratio-indepentent switched-capacitor subtracting amplifier and a dynamic current mirror. Nonideal effects associated with these circuits have been investiggated and compensated.

  • Although guided-waves are very efficient for long-range nondestructive damage inspection, it is not easy to extract meaningful pulses of small magnitude out of noisy signals. The ultimate goal of this research is to develop an efficient signal processing technique for the current guided-wave technology. The specific contribution of this investigation towards achieving this goal, a two-stage Gabor pulse-based matching pursuit algorithm is proposed : rough approximations with a set for predetermined parameters characterizing the Gabor pulse and fine adjustments of the parameters by optimization. The parameters estimated from the measured signal are then used to assess not only the location but also the size of a crack existing in a rod. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, the longitudinal wave-based damage detection in rods is considered. To estimate the crack size, Love's theory for the dispersion of longitudinal waves is employed.

  • An efficient texture compression method is proposed based on a block matching process between the current block and the previously encoded blocks. Texture mapping is widely used to improve the quality of rendering results in real-time applications. For fast texture mapping, it is important to find an optimal trade-off between compression efficiency and computational complexity. Low-complexity methods (e.g., ETC1 and DXT1) have often been adopted in real-time rendering applications because conventional compression methods (e.g., JPEG) achieve a high compression ratio at the cost of high complexity. We propose a block matching-based compression method that can achieve a higher compression ratio than ETC1 and DXT1 while maintaining computational complexity lower than that of JPEG. Through a comparison between the proposed method and existing compression methods, we confirm our expectations on the performance of the proposed method.

  • Matching transformer in Dynamic Voltage Compensator is needed for grid connection and isolation. Flux saturation in transformer will be occurred by voltage of transformer from inverter and DC offset voltage and flux saturation makes over current in transformer. In this paper, mathematical modeling of matching transformer is proposed for flux saturation simulation of Dynamic Voltage Compensator.

  • It is known that many insects and animals can return to their nest after exploration, with their own specific homing mechanisms. Their homing navigation methods have been applied to the robotic navigation. In this paper, we test the sector-based image matching method motivated by the honeybee's landmark navigation behaviour. Here, our robotic approach uses the reference compass to identify the current head direction and the relative angular position of landmarks for the navigation. The robot shows desirable homing behaviors if the robot is surrounded by landmarks. The result of robot experiment is in good agreement with that of simulation.

  • Fast IP address lookup in routers is essential to achieve packet forwarding in wire-speed. The longest prefix matching for IP address lookup is more complex than exact matching because of its dual dimensions, length and value. By thoroughly studying the current proposals for IP address lookup, we find out that the binary search could be a low-cost solution while providing high performance. Most of the existing binary search algorithms based on trie have simple data structures which can be easily implemented, but they have some problems because of empty internal nodes. The proposed algorithm is based on trie structure, but empty internal nodes are replaced by priority prefixes. The best-matching-prefix search in the proposed algorithm is more efficiently performed since search can be finished earlier when input is matched with a priority prefix. The performance evaluation results show that the constructed priority-trie has very good performance in the lookup speed and the scalability.

  • This paper presents transistor matching in 70 nm nMOS. To adopt radio frequency(RF) applications, the RF performance, especially the current gain cutoff frequency($f_T$), is examined experimentally through a wafer. It is proved that the RF performance variation of 70 nm nMOS is dependent to the device geometry, the total width(W). The RF performance variation of 70 nm nMOS is inversely proportional to square root of total width(W). Also, decreasing of the number of fingers($N_f$) is helpful to decrease the variation of 70 nm nMOS.

  • This work proposes a 10b 100MS/s DAC based on a segmented local matching technique primarily for small chip area. The proposed DAC employing a segmented current-steering structure shows the required high linearity even with the small number of devices and demonstrates a fast settling behavior at resistive loads. The proposed segmented local matching technique reduces the number of current cells to be matched and the size of MOS transistors while a double-cascode topology of current cells achieves a high output impedance even with minimum sized devices. The prototype DAC implemented in a 0.13um CMOS technology occupies a die area of $0.13mm^2$ and drives a $50{\Omega}$ load resistor with a full-scale single output voltage of $1.0V_{p-p}$ at a 3.3V power supply. The measured DNL and INL are within 0.73LSB and 0.76LSB, respectively. The maximum measured SFDR is 58.6dB at a 100MS/s conversion rate.

  • This paper describes self-localization of a mobile robot from the multiple candidates of landmarks in outdoor environment. Our robot uses omnidirectional vision system for efficient self-localization. This vision system acquires the visible information of all direction views. The robot uses feature of landmarks whose size is bigger than that of others in image such as building, sculptures, placard etc. Robot uses vertical edges and those merged regions as the feature. In our previous work, we found the problem that landmark matching is difficult when selected candidates of landmarks belonging to region of repeating the vertical edges in image. To overcome these problems, robot uses the merged region of vertical edges. If interval of vertical edges is short then robot bundles them regarding as the same region. Thus, these features are selected as candidates of landmarks. Therefore, the extracted merged region of vertical edge reduces the ambiguity of landmark matching. Robot compares with the candidates of landmark between previous and current image. Then, robot is able to find the same landmark between image sequences using the proposed feature and method. We achieved the efficient self-localization result using robust landmark matching method through the experiments implemented in our campus.
