Composite structures are generally pressurized at both sides when repaired by the scarf repair method. But single-face vacuum bag curing (SVC) may be used in some practical scarf repair of penetration damage due to the low accessibility of composite structures, which can decrease bonding quality and may reduce structural mechanical properties. In this paper, experimental investigations were conducted on tensile and compressive properties of scarf-repaired composite laminates using SVC and double-face vacuum bag curing (DVC) in four hygrothermal environments. Finite element models of composite scarf joints with voids were established to further explore the failure mechanism of scarf-repaired laminates. Results show that the curing condition hardly affects tensile and compressive properties of the repaired laminates though it significantly affects the bonding quality with adhesive inner voids. Failure loads of scarf joints almost keep unchanged with adhesive voids increasing.
This paper aims to investigate the effects of replacing cement with ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) in self compacting concrete in the fresh and hardened state. The performance of SCC in moderate climate is well investigated but few studies are available on the effect of hot environment. In this paper, the effect of initial water-curing period and curing conditions on the performance of SCC is reported. Cement was substituted by GGBFS by weight at two different levels of substitution (15% and 25%). Concrete specimens were stored either in a standard environment (T=$20^{\circ}C$, RH=100%) or in the open air in North Africa during the summer period (T=35 to $40^{\circ}C$; R.H=50 to 60%) after an initial humid curing period of 0, 3, 7 or 28 days. Compressive strength at 28 and 90 days, capillary absorption, sorptivity, water permeability, porosity and chloride ion penetration were investigated. The results show that the viscosity and yield stress are decreased with increasing dosage of GGBFS. The importance of humid curing in hot climates in particular when GGBFS is used is also proved. The substitution of cement by GGBFS improves SCC durability at long term. The best performances were observed in concrete specimens with 25% GGBFS and for 28 days water curing.
PURPOSES : This study is to suggest tunnel length to spray curing compound, based on the field tests. METHODS : At first field test, length from the entrance of tunnel to wet wall was checked by visual survey. The second and third test, various sensors were installed in concrete or in tunnel, such as RH sensor, temperature sensor, portable weather station and etc.. And also, test for bleeding and retaining water of concrete were conducted to evaluate environmental effect on concrete pavement. RESULTS : The result of the field experiment for tunnel length to spray curing compound indicates that length changes depending on tunnel length, season, and location. Environmental condition of a short tunnel was not much different between location near entrance and at center of tunnel. However, in case of a medium and long tunnel, effect of outside environmental condition decreased, when location moved into tunnel center of it. CONCLUSIONS : From the testing results, it can be proposed that optimum tunnel length to spray curing compound is 60m for a medium and long tunnel, and whole length for a short tunnel.
In the flue curing process, the wet bulb temperature is usually controlled at a constant level. To improve the quality of flue cured leaves, we studied the effect of the cyclic change of wet bulb temperature at the yellowing stage of flue curing on physical properties of cured leaves. The wet bulb temperature was automatically controlled between preset high (38℃) and low point (35℃) every one hour cyclically. As a result, the acceleration of the increase in the physical properties of cured leaves were observed. The leaves cured by this method were more or less orange in color, better bodied, and less brittle compared with the leaves produced by conventional curing. However, the leaves cured by this method had a little sharpness and harshness. As to the physical properties, there was decreased in occurrence of flat leaves than that of conventional ones. On the other hand, in case of cyclic curing method, increase of price per kg reached to 2-3% compared with those of conventional ones.
This experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of circulating air volume to chemical composition of tobacco leaves during the bulk curing. The results were as follows : The decrease of circulating air volume prolonged curing time as the case of a 0.058m3/min. kg; but, no remarkable changes with a 0.11m3/min. kg and a 0.083m3/min. kg. When the circulating air volume was decreased, compared with 0.11m3/min. kg, sugar content was increased while total nitrogen and nicotine content showed a reduced values. In case of a 0.058m3/min. kg and a 0.083m3/min.kg, solanone and damascenone were high. Some of volatile neutral constituents and volatile organic acids were increased during curing process ; especially, their quantities were remarkably increased during the midrib drying stage. As circulating air volume decreased the equilibrium moisture content was increased, while leaf shatter index and filling capacity were decreased.

We have studied the effect of temperature and exposure time on the UV curing rate of Urethane Acrylate. UV dose has been modulated by changing the electric power, and temperature has been controled by coating rate and water temperature of the coating roll. Curing rate was evaluated by measuring gel fraction of the cured film. It has been found that effect of coating velocity on the gel fraction of the final film is predominant, but role of temperature of the UV chamber is negligible. These observations imply that exposure time of UV light is critical to have a fully cured film. To better understand the effect of design and operating condition of UV coater on the behavior of UV curing of Urethane Acrylate, we have also conducted heat-flux analysis of UV chamber.
The present work is attempt to evaluate the temperature dependence of blast furnace slag concrete(BFSC) based on the concrete strength cured with different curing temperatures and ages. A equivalent substitution index(ESI) was induced to explain temperature dependence of concrete quantitatively as well as concrete strength. The results from compressive strength showed substantial crossover effect. which is the phenomenon that the compressive strength cured at low temperature becomes stronger than the one cured at high temperature. The crossover effect found more definitely on BFSC than plain concrete.. The ESI became 1.1 and 1.0 for the BFSC cured at $20^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$ after age of 56 days, respectively. Which means that the contribution to strength development of blast furnace slag per unit mass is stronger than that of the Portland cement. It was considered therefore that the optimum curing temperature for BFSC is $20^{\circ}C$.

This study is to investigate the effect of construction element such as the number of CFS ply, curing temperature, splice length and curing periods on the mechanical properties of Carbon Fiber Sheet (CFS). Through the tensile tests of CFS specimens, it can be said that the reduction factor stemmed from the number of CFS ply must be considered in the calculation of the design tensile strength of CFS. Also, the minimum splice length of CFS and curing period in $20^{\circ}C$ to satisfy the standard tension strength of CFS are over 5cm and after 3days, respectively. The measuring error of epoxy resin have no effect to tension strength of CFS until $\pm$20% error.

The use of high-strength concrete in construction have been increasing steadily. However, high-strength concrete has a low water-binder ratio, and the problems such as cracks due to hydration heat and shrinkage during the hydration process at the early age. Recently, as a method to reduce the shrinkage of concrete, study of internal curing has carried out according to increasing about interest about it. In this study, the effect of compressive strength on the curing condition(drying, moist, water) was investigated by using artificial lightweight aggregate(LWA) in high strength and high volume mortar. As a result of autogenous shrinkage, the effect of shrinkage reduction was enhanced depending on the increasing of LWA replacement. According to the curing condition, the results of compressive strength showed the different trend. The compressive strength has increased on the drying and moisture condition and decreased on the water condition.

In this study, the effects of curing procedures on the mechanical properties of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC) were investigated. The replacement ratios by recycled coarse aggregate were 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% by mass of natural coarse aggregate. Steam curing was adopted to all recycled aggregate concrete mixtures. Compressive and split tensile strength, water porosity, chloride ions penetration resistance and drying shrinkage measurements were carried out to determine performance of the RACs. From the test results, it was found that the mechanical performance of RAC decreased as the recycled aggregate contents increased. Furthermore, steam curing reduced the compressive and split tensile strength, water porosity and total charge of RAC, especially at the early ages. However, at the later ages, the beneficial effect of steam curing was less prominent. This study clearly showed that initial steam curing could be one of practical methods to improve performance of RAC with higher replacement ratio of recycled aggregate.
