A Study on 'Cultural Diversity' Contents for a Global Citizenship Education from Social Studies (사회과에서 세계시민교육을 위한 '문화 다양성'수업 내용 구성)

  • The multicultural society under globalization have made an impact on the education since the end of 20th century. This study is for the theoretical approach and presentation of method about global citizenship education in globalization & multicultural society today. As an education which is suitable in the globalization & multicultural society I present 'cultural diversity' education. The 'cultural diversity' education for fostering global citizenship is needed to enhance the cultural sensibility while learning other cultures. The 'cultural diversity' education is having the values of human rights, fairness, diversity respect and living together. So I present the study lesson plans of 'cultural diversity' education for a global citizenship education from elementary school 6 grade social studies "Natural environments and cultures of world regions" chapter.

  • The globe-trotting trend has been converted from tourism for the simple purposes of sightseeing and enjoyment to a form of learning and practicing the more specialized contents by directly participation. Traditional cultural resources have sufficient potential as culture and tourism assets that fit this kind of trend. Therefore, building proper tourist resources for their application has become a very urgent and important matter. To make masterpiece tourism packages through combined services of traditional cultural resources, it is necessary for operators to ponder diverse methods that can be used to develop various experience programs and conserve traditional cultural properties by continuously generating profits. The major results of this research are as follows. Firstly, this study proposes plans for unified tourist information and combined services of traditional cultural resources based on ubiquitous IT. Secondly, it is ascertained that the organization of combined operational consultative groups and the improvement of operator' capability are required to execute combined services of traditional cultural resources. Thirdly, we propose business plans to generate profits in both product aspect and network aspect.

  • Recently, digitizing technologies for conservation and restoration of tangible intangible cultural properties are coming into spotlight. Because cultural properties are easy to be lost and damaged over the years, After construction of cultural assets database we can reconstruct the cultural asset making use of the reverse engineering when needed, and implement digital contents such as computer graphics, 3D virtural realization, hologram, etc. So in this paper, we scrutinize visual and technical factors occurring in different types of digital restoration of cultural properties, and present problems and improvements, and try to research technological prowess and visual mechanism.

A Study on The Application of VR Technology for The Contents of Petroglyph Museum (VR기술을 활용한 암각화 박물관의 콘텐츠 개발 연구)

  • The Petroglyph is a drawing on the rock which reflects the art, religion, myth, and life style of prehistoric society. Recently lots of researches have been studied to develop the contents applying the petroglyphs in the fields of exhibition, education, entertainment, and commercial. This research aims to find some possible VR contents based on the petroglyphs text. The review on the Ulsan petroglyph museum which is the first and the only petroglyph museum in Korea was the first step. Some limitation and problems were found in the current contents which could be overcome by using VR technology. The next step was the overall review of VR system and devices, and then I analyzed five cases of VR contents which specifically applied to the cultural heritages. Based on the analysis of case studies I propose some possible VR contents more immersive and interactive covered with whole range of petroglyphs context, environmental, social, cultural, technical and artistic.
