병원조직에 있어서 간호사들이 지각하는 조직문화 프로필과 성과와의 관계에 관한 연구 - 병원조직을 대상으로 한 경청가치 모형의 경험적 검증 - (A Study on the Relationships between Cultural Profiles and Performances in Hospital Organizations : An Empirical Test of Competing Values Model on the Korean Hospital Organizations)

  • As the environment related to hospital operation has changed very competitively in recent years, a need to reform the hospital management is ever growing. For that reason, it has become more urgent and strategically important for us to diagnose the organizational culture of the hospitals and to make efforts to change them towards more performance- and customers-oriented one. So far, there have been many studies done on the hospital organizations. However, this research distinctively attempts to base itself on the competing values approach in studying the organizational culture and empirically examine how different profiles of the organizational culture may have an impact on the organizational performances in hospital organizations. The results of this study has showed several interesting findings and posed the discussions to be dealt with. First, most hospitals selected for this research are characterized by the inner-oriented culture with more focused on 'hierarchy' and 'relationship-oriented' culture rather than on 'reform' and 'work-oriented' one. And the strong 'hierarchy-oriented' culture is a very general phenomenon in the sample hospitals. From these findings, we can inference that despite the recent efforts of most Korean hospitals for organizational change and innovation they still have long distance way to go. In addition, another important implications of this research has come from the analysis of the relationships between the cultural profiles and organizational performances. For this purpose, this research has conducted a series of cluster analysis and identified four distinct cultural profiles from the sample organizations. Several major findings are as follows. First, with respect to the dependent variable of 'job satisfaction' perceived by the nurses working in the sample hospitals, we found that the balance of competing organizational values had more positive impact on the job satisfaction. This result confirms the hypothesis of competing values model on the organizational performances. However, such result was not replicated on the other dependent variable, 'patients' satisfaction'. The reasons for these results and other discussions including the limitations of this study are suggested.

Low Molecular Weight(LMW) RNA Profiles에 의한 젖산균의 동정 (Identification of Lactic Acid Bacteria from Meat by Low Molecular Weight(LMW) RNA Profiles)

  • 돼지고기에서 분리한 bacteriocin 생성능이 우수한 젖산균을 동정하기 위하여 이미 알려진 몇가지 젖산균을 참고균으로 하여 10% denaturing polyacrylamide gel에 전기영동으로 전개한 5S rRNA 와 tRNA 등 150개 이하의 핵산으로 구성된 저분자량 RNA(Low Molecular Weight RNA : LMW RNA) profiles에 나타난 15~25개의 밴드 양상이 균에 따라 차이점을 보여 동정에 효과적으로 이용할 수 있었다. 새로 분리한 젖산균은 참고균과는 다른 균종이었다. APT, TSB, MRS의 3종류 다른 배지에서 배양하여도 LMW RNA profiles에는 차이가 없었으며, 겔상의 밴드 전개거리를 3개의 표준 분자량 물질을 이용하여 만든 표준곡선을 사용하여 상대핵산단위(relative nucleotide units : RNU)로 나타낸 밴드의 양상을 도표화 하는 것이 profiles를 서로 비교 하는데 편리하였다.

한국인의 자가평가 건강수준 평가 도구 개발을 위한 문헌 고찰 (A Review Study for Developing Health Profiles to Measure the Self-Perceived Health Stati of Koreans)

  • Valid evaluation of self-perceived health status is important for the promotion of individual health and quality of life, In advanced countries, many types of health profile have been developed, and currently, the SF-36, NHP, and EuroQol, etc, are widely used. However, the outcomes of these profiles may vary according to regional, cultural or emotional backgrounds. For these reasons a Korean Health Profile should be developed. In this study, we reviewed the concept of self-perceived health status, and its significance to public health, and reviewed some of the differences between the available profiles in 139 related publications. Based on this review, we are trying to develop a Korean Health Profile in order to measure the self-perceived health stati of Koreans.

A proposed cultural competence training program for nurses based on their transcultural self-efficacy

  • This study examined the relationship between the demographic profiles of 260 staff nurses in the SPC Health Care Ministry Hospitals and their Transcultural Self-Efficacy (TSE) level on the Cognitive, Practical and Affective dimensions. To obtain the result, among the nine (9) demographic profile items, three (3) common positive predictors were considered, namely, 1) Educational attainment level; 2) Age; and 3) Willingness to work abroad in all three dimensions. While in the Practical and Affective dimensions, the number of years employed were a common negative predictor and in the Affective dimension, Gender of participants was added as the positive predictor. Therefore, there are some significant demographic characteristics of respondents influence to the transcultural self-efficacy. Further, based on the results of this diagnostic study, the researcher designed the One (1) year Cultural Competence Training Program for staff nurses. For future research, the researcher recommended to conduct a further study that will evaluate the effectiveness of the educational intervention by approaching a longitudinal study form administering the test and retest of TSET.

Diet-Related Health Disparities in African Americans

  • Disparities in health and disease between various population subgroups, such as racial and ethnic groups, are a major focus of public health research but also pose considerable challenges. Diet is a key contributor to disparities in many chronic diseases and conditions. Therefore, in order to understand and address racial and ethnic health disparities, it is important to characterize the dietary patterns of the populations of interest. African Americans are at higher risk for many diet-related chronic disease conditions, such as obesity, type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and many cancers relative to other racial/ethnic groups in the United States. In this report, I describe the diet-related chronic disease profiles of African Americans, characterize their dietary patterns and food preferences, identify demographic, psychosocial, environmental, and cultural factors that may affect their dietary choices, and propose strategies for improving the dietary and health profiles of African Americans.

건강가정·다문화가족지원센터의 직무요구 및 조직문화가 종사자의 코로나19 관련 업무수행, 직무소진, 직무만족에 미친 영향 (The Impact of Job Demands and Organizational Culture on Work Performance, Burnout, and Job Satisfaction in Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support Centers during the Covid-19 Pandemic)

  • This study examined the impact of job demand and organizational culture on new task difficulties, burnout, and job satisfaction using a survey data of 145 family specialists in Healthy Family and Multicultural Family Support during the COVID-19 pandemic. We used the job demand-resources model and the competing values model to categorize the four dimensions of organizational culture as a conceptual framework for this study. We found that the mean of work overload was higher than the means of job conflict and job ambiguity. Our latent profile analysis proposed four profiles of organizational culture: cultural absence type, authoritative culture type, middle cultural balance type, and high cultural balance type. The results of multiple regression analyses showed that work overload was positively associated with difficulties in new task performance and burnout, job ambiguity was positively related to burnout, and job conflict and ambiguity were negatively related to job satisfaction. These findings imply that the higher the job demands reported by family specialists, the higher the level of burnout and the lower the job satisfaction. In addition, organizational culture was a unique predictor of burnout and lower level of job satisfaction. Family specialists in the groups with a high cultural balance were Family specialists in the groups with a high cultural balance were more likely to have lower levels of burnout than those in the culture absence and in the middle culture balance, and higher job satisfaction than the other groups. The results suggest that management strategies to build a creative workplace culture can prevent burnout and improve job satisfaction.

화협옹주묘 출토 화장분의 재현연구 (Experimental Reproduction of Cosmetic Powders Excavated from the Tomb of Princess Hwahyup)

  • 본 연구에서는 조선시대 화협옹주묘 출토 화장품에 대한 선행 연구의 분석결과와 문헌상의 화장품 제법에 대한 기록을 바탕으로 조선시대 화장분 일부를 재현하고 과학적 분석 및 성능 평가를 수행하였다. 연구 대상 출토 화장분은 탄산납과 활석으로 이루어진 백색분과 주사로 이루어진 적색분이다. 재현 백색분은 탄산납의 원료로 염기성탄산납인 연백을 이용하였으며, 열화 후 출토 백색분과 유사한 결정구조로 변화되었다. 주사, 명반, 노른자를 이용하여 재현한 적색분은 열화 후에도 출토품의 결정구조와는 차이를 보였으며, 출토 적색분은 순수한 주사로 제조되었거나 유기물 부패에 의해 현재의 결정구조를 갖게 된 것으로 추정하였다. 재현 화장분의 기능성을 평가한 결과, 발색력은 현대 화장품의 기준에는 미치지 못하였으나 재현 백색분의 발림성과 흡유능은 배합비율에 따라 일부 시료에서 현대 화장품과 유사한 수준으로 평가되었다.

막걸리의 교차문화적 관능 특성 연구 (Cross-Cultural Comparison of Sensory Characteristics of Makgeolli (Korean rice wine) by Japanese and Korean Panels)

  • The objectives of this study were to perform a descriptive analysis to characterize and compare the sensory properties of commercial Makgeolli products as well as a cross-cultural comparison of the sensory descriptions of these products between two sensory panels (Korean and Japanese). The samples used in this study were seven different types of Makgeolli, which were commercial products. A total of 10 Korean and 7 Japanese panelists were selected in Korea. Each group was trained, and they identified product attributes and performed descriptive analyses independently. The Korean and Japanese panelists generated 34 and 28 sensory attributes, respectively, to describe appearance, odor/aroma, taste/flavor, texture, and after flavor of the products. There were significant differences among the samples for 24 attributes by Korean and 23 attributes by Japanese panelists. Although there was not a large difference in the number of descriptors between Korean and Japanese panels, the Korean panelists generated more various attributes associated with flavor than the Japanese panelists, and the attributes of Japanese panelists included references to non-food products such as rotten grass. Multiple factor analysis (MFA) was applied to the descriptive analysis data from the Korean and Japanese panels to delineate the associations between Makgeolli samples and their sensory characteristics. Both the Korean and Japanese panels clustered the JRM, JSM, KRM and KSM samples into one group and the CRM and BSM samples into another group. The ESM sample was distinguished from the other six samples. These results of the cross-cultural comparison suggest that comparative analyses of sensory profiles between cultures should be conducted regularly in future studies, and further research such as consumer acceptance tests should be conducted to determine the sensory characteristics that drive consumer acceptance of Makgeolli products in the context of increasing food product exports to other countries.

Investigating the use of multiple social networking services: A cross-cultural perspective in the United States and Korea

  • The rise in recent technology has changed the ways, in which people communicate with one another. Social networking services (SNSs) have become one of the most representative means. General SNSs allow users to create their own unique profiles, search for fellow members, share information, etc., while other SNSs have functions that cater to different needs of users. As a result, users of SNSs have begun to pick and choose different SNSs and concurrently use multiple SNSs in order to fulfill all their needs. This exploratory study examined which SNSs are used together and the characteristics that predict the use of multiple SNSs. In addition, it observed the differences between consumers' usage of multiple SNSs in different cultures. An online survey was administered to SNS users in the United States and Korea. The results of the study showed that the use of multiple SNSs is not yet prevalent in Korea, the country that represented a collectivistic culture. In addition, in the U.S., the highest number of users reported that they were active on at least three SNSs.

수증기의 연직 분포 측정을 위한 라만 라이다 장치의 개발 및 GNSS, MWR 장비와 상호 비교연구 (Development of Raman LIDAR System to Measure Vertical Water Vapor Profiles and Comparision of Raman LIDAR with GNSS and MWR Systems)

  • 수증기의 혼합비를 측정하기 위하여 라만 라이다 시스템을 설계 제작하였다. 시스템을 검증하기 위하여 가강수량과 분포에 대하여 상용 마이크로파 라이오메터(MWR)와 GPS 신호를 이용하는 방법과 비교 연구를 수행하였다. GNSS 방법으로 측정한 총가강수량과 본 라이다 방법에서는 작은 차이를 보였는데, 이는 라이다 방법으로 얻을 수 있는 수증기의 측정고도가 제한적이기 때문이다. 반면에 MWR 방법과 라이다 방법으로 얻은 고도에 따른 수증기량은 수증기량이 급격하게 변하는 구름 경계나 경계고도 근처에서 심한 차이를 보이고 있었다. MWR은 그 밀도가 급격하게 변하는 곳에서 취약한 점을 보였으나 개발된 라만 라이다의 경우는 그 밀도가 급격히 변하는 곳에서도 측정이 원활하게 이루어지고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
