A Fundamental Study on the Classification Criteria and Properties by Detail Type of Archival Information on Architectural Heritage of Korea (건조물 문화재 기록정보의 유형 구분 기준과 세부유형별 속성에 관한 기초 연구)

  • This study aimed to distinguish categories of archival information and identify properties by their detail types, so that the various forms of architectural heritage information generated can be managed based on their attributes and characteristics. First, the specific uses of terms in the legal system were reviewed and their associated concepts specifically defined. "Architectural heritage" was defined as architecture belonging to the category of tangible cultural heritage as designated by law, and "architectural heritage archival information" was defined as all kinds of material expressed by electronic processing of the actual status for preservation and management. Next, the production status of architectural heritage archival information was reviewed in relation to the legal system. This confirmed that relevant legal systems were organized hierarchically and that various types of archival information were generated in a single project. Furthermore, it was confirmed that even archival information produced in the same form contained differing contents depending on the specific purpose and method, and that there was no classification by which to cover all archival information. Finally, it was also confirmed that detailed drawing types could be categorized according to the purpose of production and the target of the records. Based on the findings of this review, the type and properties of archival information were presented as the primary classification criteria, and the architectural heritage archival information was divided into 6 general types and 27 detailed types. Specifically, the linguistic form, dimension, temporal property, and graphic form of archival information were applied as criteria for the classification of general types, and the target, production purpose, production method of archival information, and content characteristics of archival information properties of archival information by type were comprehensively reviewed.

A Study on the Spill-over Economic Effect Analysis of Cultural and Creative Industries in Henan Province, China (중국 허난(河南)성 문화창의산업의 경제적 파급효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the Spill-over economic effect of the cultural and creative industries(CCI) in Henan Province, China. The research object is the CCI of Henan Province, which is mainly based on five sectors out of 42 industries in the industrial association table of the Statistical Bureau of Henan Province, China in 2017 (culture, sports; recreation and research sector; experimental development and integrated technical services sector; information transmission, computer services and software sector; education sector, etc), and is analyzed through secondary integration and redefinition of the CCI of Henan Province. Through the analysis of Henan Province Industry Association Table, this paper provides some enlightenment to the future direction of the cultural and creative industries. The main analysis results are as follows. The total production inducement of the CCI in Henan province is 48,848 billion yuan, and in particular, the production inducement coefficient of the industry in Henan province is 2.72809, 2.23909 (total of columns and rows), Index of the power of dispersion is 0.26325, and the index of the sensitivity of dispersion is 0.87535. Income induction coefficient is 0.55211, production tax induction coefficient is 0.09291. Because CCI of Henan Province has full development potential, the government needs to provide active support and policy support, in addition to the need for legal provisions and supervision of market management. In order to improve the innovative development of the CCI, it is necessary to develop a new model of "CCI+X".

Archaeometric Characteristics of Roof Tiles in Baekje Kingdom from the Danjiri Site of Gongju, Korea (공주 단지리유적 출토 백제 기와의 고고과학적 특성)

  • The roof tiles from the tomb in Baekje Kingdom of the Danjiri site in Gongju, Korea were studied for the production techniques and raw material provenance based on archaeometric characteristics. The roof tiles had traditional shapes of Baekje Kingdom, which show flow texture on the surfaces and sections with the roof tiles of hard or soft-type. These roof tiles were locally produced, using refining soils according to mineralogical and geochemical characteristics. Also roof tiles were divided to 2 groups by firing temperature and physical properties. One of them had soft with porous texture and fired probably about 700 to $900^{\circ}C$. The other had hard with vitrified texture and probably fired about 940 to $1,020^{\circ}C$. Buried for long time and used as a tomb, roof tiles had experienced chemical alteration due to the enrichments of trace elements abundant in human tissues.

  • The significance of the image content industry, as a flagship industry of the cultural content industry, is emerging globally as a high value-added trend. Since the movie industry has diverse related industries along with a positive spillover effect from cultural and economic perspectives, it ultimately strengthens national brands as well as national competitiveness. As a national strategy cultural content industry, the movie industry in each country around the world utilizes its own diverse self-protective systems. The Korean movie industry has emerged as a 10 million-strong movie-goer market; however, in reality, it is vulnerable to high film production costs and utility. The current domestic media market demands a new paradigm through the media industry as a whole; nonetheless, it is inherently limited to past film production and distribution channels. In this study, I seek to evaluate the status quo and propose a new direction for the Korea movie industry.

  • It can be said that film and game industries take core parts of the comtemporary cultural industry. For consumers in modern industry, cultural industry is immensely significant as much as other industries. Because consumers are spending proportionally more money on experiential and emotional needs and less on basics such as food, housing, and clothes. Cultural industry is the one that can give us 'cultural satisfaction'. Some may say the film industry is different from the game industry in genre. However, we have no difficulty in finding many common characteristics between them since we are living in the world where any content or genre cannot stand alone and contents' boundaries diversify themselves to meet consumers' demand in daily basis. The purpose of this study is to look into the impact of the film industry on the game industry and to show how these different industries can coexist successfully by creating a synergy effect.

Study on the Restoration of Ancient Smelting and Smithing Technologies in the Jungwon Area (재현실험을 통한 중원지역 고대 제련-단야기술의 공정별 특성 연구)

  • Studies on ancient ironmaking technologies are primarily based on archaeological surveys and scientific analysis data, and technological systems are examined by comparing the results of restorative experiments. In this study, to examine the ancient iron production technologies such as smelting and smithing in the Jungwon area, a restoration experiment was conducted based on archaeological data, and the iron and slag, etc. produced in the experiment were analyzed. Further, the changes in physicochemical properties due to the smelting of the raw material, specifically, iron ore were determined, and the smithing process, which involves fabrication of ironwares, was analyzed along with the characteristics of each step. In the case of smelting, increasing recovery rates and production of high-quality primary iron material were important for the following processes. For the iron bars produced through the smithing process, it was found that quality improvements made by reducing physical defects such as inclusions or gas holes were more important than the composition of the iron itself. The study also yielded comparative study data for various byproducts, such as smithing slag, which could be utilized in other ironmaking technology studies.

Examining Genre Tastes of Hollywood Movies in Korea (할리우드 영화의 장르별 수용 : 한국 영화시장에서의 문화적 할인현상을 중심으로1)

  • This study has examined genre tastes of Hollywood movies in Korea. A concept of cultural discount suggests that Hollywood film in foreign countries would be received differently according to its specific attributes. Following the suggestion of cultural discount, this study examines how local reception of Hollywood movies is different in Korea, focusing on film genre, production budget, and U.S. box office. The results show that genres are useful variables for such analysis, indicating that certain film genres are indeed suffering from relatively high cultural discount at the level of Hollywood movie import/distribution. Comedy, specifically, constitutes the crucial particularistic movie genre. However, this study does not find out any significant effect of movie genres on the box office in Korea, controlling the effect of U.S. box office and production budget. As Hollywood studios have recently produced multi-genre movies rather than genre-specific movies to induce a variety of audience who have different movie tastes, the influences of cultural discount disappeared among imported Hollywood movies in Korea. This study also reveals that Hollywood movies of high production budget and of successful U.S. box office are more preferred in Korea.

Varietal Responses of Reproductive Characteristics and Yield of Cucumber Grown at the Different Types of Plastic house and Cultural Seasons (Plastic house의 형태 및 재배시기의 차이에 따른 오이 품종들의 생식형질 및 수량반응)

  • This study was conducted to determine proper varieties of cucumber at four different cultural seasons. Eight varieties of cucumber from four varietal groups were grown in two types of plastic house, 1-2W type and postless type, at four different cultural seasons, retarding culture, forcing culture, semi-forcing culture and summer culture. Number of female flowers, male flowers, aborted female flowers, leaves and fruits per plant and fresh weight of fruits per plant were observed. The results were listed as follows. Varietal group of Nakhap or Hukjinjoo and ibchubakdadakioi showed better growth and higher yield at retarding culture. Kyeusalichungjangoi, ibchubdadakioi and Gaulnakhapoi could be recommended as proper varieties at forcing culture. Varietal group of Chungjang or Nakhap showed relatively higher yield at semi-forcing culture. Naboochungjangoi and Gaulnakhapoi were recommended as proper varieties at summer culture.

An experimental archaeological study on the Baekjae iron smelting furnace and its production process (백제 제철로 및 제철기술의 복원을 위한 실험 고고학적 연구)

  • A Jincheon Seokjangri B23 furnace was reconstructed and iron smelting experiment was performed to investigate an ancient Baekjae iron production process. The work mainly described in this paper is the $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ experiments among the several experiments carried out at Jungwon National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage. Iron ore(magnetite) and oak charcoal were used as a source and a foot bellow was used for air supply. Common results of the experiments are masses of iron, slag and charcoal formed in the furnace. Most iron lumps were formed nearby the tuyere rather than the area of tapping hole. Metallographic and chemical analysis shows that the iron lumps can be used for either forge or cast depending on their carbon content. Low Fe content and glassy texture of the inner slags suggest that the operation environment was quite reducing. Based on the results of the iron smelting experiments, measurements and analysis, various information was obtained regarding physical-chemical and metallurgical processes of the ancient iron smelting process. It is firmly believed that its undisclosed contents can be revealed more in depth with continual reconstitution experiments.

Manufacturing Technology and Provenance of the Lead Beads (납환의 제작방법 및 납동위원소비 특성 연구)

  • More than 30 lead beads have been excavated from buddhist temples and sites but the production times are unknown the origin. The aim of this study is to estimate manufacturing technique and provenance of 11 beads through the chemical composition and isotope analysis. Results shows that the lead beads are composed of high-purity lead and cast using for 2 semicircle moulds. Furthermore, 11 lead beads are similar in size, chemical composition and casting methods. Lead isotope analysis data suggest that the provenance of lead beads are not Korea peninsula. Also it is estimated that 11 lead beads were divided in 2 groups considering the time and places of production. The future works will be executed additional scientific analysis and historical background due to confirm the manufacturing system and provenance.
