  • Phytophthora species, classified under Oomycota, cause significant damage to various crops and trees. The present study introduced Phytophthora species, P. nagaii and P. tentaculata, new to Korea, which pose notable risks to their respective host plants. Our research provided a comprehensive description of these species taking into account their cultural features, morphological characteristics, and molecular phylogenetic analysis using the internal transcribed spacer rDNA region and cytochrome c oxidase subunit mtDNA genes (cox1 and cox2) sequences. In addition, this study first evaluated the sensitivity of P. nagaii and P. tentaculata to five anti-oomycete fungicides, finding both species most responsive to picarbutrazox and P. tentaculata resistant to fluazinam. The data can guide targeted treatment strategies and offer insights into effective control methods. The findings expand our understanding of the diversity, distribution, and management of Phytophthora species in Korea.

  • This study uses the concepts of mental accounting and coupling in consumption to demonstrate a systematic relationship between behavioral costs, sunk costs, coupling, and user intention to discontinue social network services (SNS) use. An analysis of 213 SNS users found that coupling and sunk costs are two major factors that influence an individual's intention to discontinue SNS use. An interesting finding of this study is that the perception of coupling is created by behavioral costs in the context of an SNS. This finding implies that the source of cost perception when perceiving coupling may differ depending on whether the product or service is traditional or web-based. These results contribute to an expansion of the theoretical discussion of individual-level discontinuance intention after adopting SNS by conceptualizing the perception of coupling.

  • This study investigated the effects of thae persuader and the persuasion message in order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and activate the exploration journey using bicycles, a form of green transportation, in this green society age. Furthermore, the effects that predictive variables related to the implementation of an infrastructure for bicycles have on the intentions toward an exploration journey using bicycles were examined. The questionnaire survey was administered to 257 respondents for 9 days from March 14 to March 22, 2009. Since Gyeongju has a number of cultural relics that people can look at in one day, Gyeongju is ideal for examining a variety of tourist opinions about exploring cultural relics using bicycles. In conclusion, it was found that the 'persuader' and 'persuasion message' enhanced the desire for bicycle exploration journeys from 'will use a bicycle if possible' to 'want to use a bicycle'. In accordance with two-way ANOVA results on the desire for bicycle exploration journeys by persuader and persuasion message, the persuasion approach emphasizing health effects and geared toward bicycle enthusiasts was significantly effective. Furthermore, the most effective approach was the persuasion strategy emphasizing the 'citizens' and 'health', and 'citizens' and 'eco-friendly' among the effects created by connection of persuader and persuasion message.

Stockton & Darlington Railway in north western England firstly used steam engine. It was Manchester & Liverpool Railway which firstly ran systematized railroading system. Like this, railway had been developed in diverse forms in various countries, and these traditions are preserved well as time passes. Especially in UK, first country to run railway, has various methods to maintain railway cultural heritage. Japan also has organized railway culture protection system due to fast development of railway and many changes through privatization. • This study aimed to compare smoking, drinking, dietary management, personal hygiene, and oral care between immigrant women in urban and rural areas and to determine predictors of the overall health behaviors. With the standardized questionnaire used for community health survey data collection was performed in 128 immigrant women from November 2011 to October 2012. Rural women performed significantly higher numbers of health behaviors than urban women and residential district, education, employment status, and perceived difficulties related to cultural adaptation significantly predicted health behaviors in immigrant women. Immigrant women in urban areas may be highly vulnerable in maintaining health behaviors compared with rural women and cultural barriers may hinder positive health behavior maintenance. Therefore, careful considerations at individual, community, and environmental levels are needed when assessing immigrant women's health behaviors and designing culturally relevant interventions to improve health status.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the recognition of the Children's Rights Guarantees among parents and child service providers in a local community, and to explore ways to organize Child Friendly Cities. To this end, I analyzed survey data collected from a municipality based in Seoul, Korea, and discovered certain differences in recognitions of play and leisure, citizen and participation, safety and protection, health and social service, education, and housing. Among the six categories, the parents and child service providers recognized that education and housing were relatively well guaranteed whereas citizen and participation was less secure. Child service providers were more negative in the physical environment for building child-friendly community, while parents were more negative about the institutional / cultural environment, such as participation rights. Based on these findings, I suggested the following: First, the physical environment should refer to the standards of child welfare officers, and the institutional and cultural environment should refer to the parents' standards. Second, the participation of parents and child service providers as well as children should be expanded in the community decision-making process.
