  • We introduce a generalized cubic functional equation and investigate the Hyers-Ulam stability of the cubic functions as solutions to the generalized cubic functional equation on a quasi-fuzzy anti-${\beta}$-Banach space by both the direct method and the fixed point method.

  • For modeling an equation of state suitable for describing associating fluids, we combined the cubic equation of state (Peng-Robinson) and an association term of SAFT. The resulting EoS (Cubic-Plus-Association) is not cubic with respect to volume and contains five pure compound parameters. Excellent correlations of both vapour pressures and saturated liquid volumes were obtained for n-alcohols and secondary alcohols. We considered a method for reducing the number of adjustable pure compound parameters from five to three, and the resulting 3-parameters EoS relation maintained the good correlation of vapour pressures and saturated liquid volumes.

  • The density of polar-nonpolar liquid mixtures composed of methyl tert-butyl ether(MTBE) and 2,2,4-trimethylpentane, and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) and 2,2,4-trimethylpentane, and the density of polar-polar liquid mixture of MTBE and MEK were measured by densitometer at 278.15 K, 288.15 K and 298.15 K, respectively. The excess molar volume of the binary systems calculated from the measured density was shown good agreement with the calculated one by the cubic Peng-Robinson- Stryjek-Vera (PRSV) equation of state together with Huron-Vidal mixing rule and it confirmed that the cubic PRSV equation of state could be used in the molar volume calculation of polar mixture.

  • Cubic equations of state with two temperature dependent parameters are suggested and optimized using ASHRAE data for methane, propane, carbon dioxide, R-32 and R-134a. Appropriate simple functional forms are assumed for the temperature dependent parameters. The equations tested are Martin, Fuller, Harmens-Knapp, Schmidt-Wenzel. Among them modified Schmidt-Wenzel equation of state appears to be the choice for calculation of saturation properties such as vapor pressures, saturated liquid volumes, and saturated vapor volumes with an average absolute deviation of about one percent over the entire region excluding; the near cirtical.

  • Cubic and non-cubic equations of state are used to calculate the vapor-liquid equilibrium(VLE) compositions for liquified natural gas(LNG) containing hydrogen sulfide. Modified Benedict-Web-Robin EOS is chosen as a non-cubic equation of state while Peng-Robinson, Soave-Redlich-Kwong EOS are used for a cubic EOS. Modified Benedict-Web-Robin EOS. showed better predictability than the cubic EOS used for the systems $H_2S/CH_4,\;H_2S/iC_4H_{10},\;H_2S/N_2$. specially for liquid composition.

  • The analysis of temperature behavior of a hydrogen tank during refueling is of significance to clarify the safety of the compressed hydrogen storage in vehicles since the temperature at a tank rises with inflow of hydrogen. A mass balance and an energy balance were combined to obtain analytical model for temperature change during the hydrogen refueling. The equation was coupled to Peng-Robinson-Gasem (PRG) equation of state (EOS) for hydrogen. The PRG EOS was adopted after comparison with other four different cubic EOSs. A parameter of the model was determined to fit data from experiments of various inlet flow rates and temperatures. The temperature and pressure change with refueling time were obtained by the developed model. The calculation results revealed that the extent of precooling was more effective than the flow rate control.

  • It is shown that the cubic law can be modified regarding the steady-state Navier-Stokes equations by using perturbation approximation method for a sinusoidal aperture variation. In order to adopt the perturbation theory, the sinusoidal function needs to be non-dimensionalized for the amplitude and wavelength. Then, the steady-state Navier-Stokes equations can be solved by expanding the non-dimensionalized stream function with respect to the small value of the parameter (the ratio of the mean aperture to the wavelength), together with the continuity equation. From the approximate solution of the Navier-Stokes equations, the basic cubic law is successfully modified for the steady-state condition and a sinusoidal aperture variation. A finite difference method is adopted to calculate the pressure within a fracture model, and the results of numerical experiments show the accuracy and applicability of the modified cubic law. As a result, it is noted that the modified cubic law, suggested in this study, will be used for the analysis of fluid flow through aperture geometry of sinusoidal distributions.

  • This study has been mainly motivated to numerically model the supercritical mixing and combustion processes encountered in the liquid propellant rocket engines. In the present approach, turbulence is represented by the extended k-e model. To account for the real fluid effects, the propellant mixture properties are calculated by using generalized cubic equation of state. In order to realistically represent the turbulence-chemistry interaction in the turbulent nonpremixed flames, the flamelet approach based on the real fluid flamelet library has been adopted. Based on numerical results, the detailed discussions are made for the effects of swirl number on flame structure of supercritical kerosene/LOx double swirl coaxial injector.
