The SrS:CuCl TFEL devices were fabricated by electron-beam deposition and the luminescent characteristics of the fabricated SrS:CuCl TFEL devices were studied. The SrS powder was used as the host materials and 0.05 ~ 0.6 at% of CuCl powder was added as the luminescent center. The deposition conditions of substrate temperature, electron beam current, and deposition rate were 500 $^{\circ}C$ , 20 ~ 40 mA, and 5 ~ 10 /sec, respectively The total thickness of the phosphor layer deposited was 6000 . The blue emission at low CuCl concentrations was observed from the luminescent centers of monomer, dimer, trimer, and tetramer, The bright greenish blue emission at high CuCl concentrations was observed from the dimer and trimer luminescent centers. The maxium luminance was observed from the SrS:CuCl TFEL devices doped with 0.2 at% of CuCl concentration and the threshold voltage, luminance(L$_{40}$ ), efficiency(η$_{20}$) and CIE coordinate obtained were 55 V, 728 cd/$m^2$, 0.49 lm/w, and (0.21, 0.33), respectively..

The growth kinetion of $CuCl_x$ layer on Cu was investigated using $Cl_2$ gas with/without plasma. The etching kinetics ofit was also studied, in which PEt3 gas as well as $Cl_2$ gas were used. when plasma and DC bias were applied, not only the growth rate of $CuCl_x$ layer but also the surface concentration of Cl in $CuCl_x$ layer drastically increased. The growth mode is divided into three regimes, where the thinkness $CuCl_x$ layer ise proportional to t, lo9g $T^{1/2}$ , respectively, whether plasma, is applied or not. These three regime. It is also identified that the eath rate of Cu is drastically increased as the $Cl_2$ pressure is increased. However, when plasma and DC bias were applied, the etching rate is decreased, and ClCu-P-U layer is formed. in addition, as the etching time is increased, the surface concentration of Cl is increased and $CuCl_2$ formed partially.
To investigate an effect of phase separation on precipitation characteristics of CuCl nanocrystals in CuCl doped nonlinear optical glasses, borosilicate glass systems with 9 different compositions with ~2wt% of CuCl were selected and CuCl doped glasses were prepared by melting and precipitation method. Microstructural properties of the CuCl doped glasses were analyzed by optical absorption spectroscopy, acid elution test, TEM, and EDXS. While phase separation did not occur in Glass A~D, interconnected and droplet microstructures due to phase separation were found in Glass E, F and Glass G~I, respectively. In the particular composition of the matrix glasses in this study, the precipitation of the CuCl particles was observed in the phase separable glasses, not in phase non-separable glasses. The CuCl particles were precipitated in both silica-rich phase region and boronrich phase region of the glass matrix. In the case of 7.7Na2O-36.6B2O3-52.7SiO2(mole%) glass, the larger CuCl particles than those in the silica-rich phase region were observed in the boron-rich phase region.

In order to simulate the leaching solution of copper sulfide ore in $FeCl_3$ solutions, synthetic solutions with composition of $FeCl_3$-$FeCl_2$-$CuCl_2$-CuCl-NaCl-HCl-$H_2O$ were prepared. The concentration of iron and copper chloride was varied from 0.1 to 1 m in synthetic solutions. The effect of composition on the mixed solution pH and potential at $25^{\circ}C$ was measured. When HCl concentration was constant, the increase of CuCl concentration increased solution pH. The increase of other solutes excluding HCl and CuCl decreased solution pH owing to the increase of the activity coefficient of hydrogen ion. A high CuCl concentration favored the redox equilibrium in the direction of Cu(I), while $FeCl_3$ had the opposite effect.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of copper (II) chloride (CuCl2) on zebrafish. Zebrafish were exposed to various CuCl2 concentrations and subjected to different exposure times to determine the median lethal concentration (LC50) values. To evaluate stress responses, we measured whole-body cortisol levels and behavioral parameters using the open field test (OFT) or the novel tank test (NTT). The zebrafish were exposed to CuCl2 solution at concentrations of 1.5-150 ㎍/l or a vehicle for 1 hr before behavioral tests or sample collection for whole-body cortisol. The LC50 values were 30.3, 25.3, and 14.8 ㎍/l at 24, 48, and 96 hr, respectively. The NTT showed that mobility, velocity, and distance covered were significantly lower in zebrafish exposed to CuCl2 than in the control group (p<0.05), while the turn angle was significantly higher in zebrafish exposed to a CuCl2 concentration of 150 ㎍/l than in the control group (p<0.05). The OFT also showed that mobility, velocity, and distance covered were significantly lower and the turn angle and meandering were significantly higher in zebrafish exposed to all concentrations of CuCl2 than in the control group (p<0.05). The whole-body cortisol levels were significantly higher in zebrafish exposed to CuCl2 than in the control group (p<0.05). These results suggest that exposure to lethal CuCl2 concentrations induces an intense toxic and stress response in zebrafish, causing behavioral changes and increasing whole-body cortisol levels.
Two copper(II) complexes, [CuL3](ClO4)2 bearing one N-CH2CH2CONH2 group as well as one N-CH2CH2CN group and [CuL4](ClO4)2 bearing two N-CH2CH2CONH2 groups, have been prepared by the selective hydrolysis of [CuL2](ClO4)2 (L2 = C-meso-1,8-bis(cyanoethyl)-5,5,7,12,12,14-hexamethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane). The complex [CuL5](ClO4)2 bearing one N-CH2CH2C(=NH)OCH3 and one N-CH2CH2CN groups has been prepared as the major product from the reaction of [CuL2](ClO4)2 with methanol in the presence of triethylamine. In acidic aqueous solution, the N-CH2CH2C(=NH)OCH3 group of [CuL5](ClO4)2 undergoes hydrolysis to yield [CuL6](ClO4)2 bearing both N-CH2CH2COOCH3 and N-CH2CH2CN groups. The crystal structure of [CuL5](ClO4)2 shows that the complex has a slightly distorted square-pyramidal coordination polyhedron with an apical Cu-N (N-CH2CH2C(=NH)OCH3 group) bond. The apical Cu-N bond distance (2.269(3) A) is ca. 0.06 A longer than the apical Cu-O (N-CH2CH2CONH2 group) bond of [CuL4](ClO4)2. The pendant amide group of [CuL3](ClO4)2 is involved in coordination. The carboxylic ester group of [CuL6](ClO4)2 is also coordinated to the metal ion in various solvents but is removed from the coordination sphere in the solid state.

The layered organic-inorganic hybrid compounds($C_6H_5CH_2NH_3)_2CuCl_4$ and ($NH_3C_6/H_4C_2H_4_6/H_4NH_3)CuCl_4$ have been directly synthesized. From the X-ray diffraction data and the organic guest size, the orientation of the intercalated organic amine was determined. The inorganic sheets consist of $CuCl_4^{2-}$layers of comer-sharing octahedra copper chloride. The protonated organic amine was intercalated into the $CuCl_4^{2-}$layers with bilayer structure for ($C_6H_5CH_2NH_3)_2CuCl_4$ and monolayer structure for ($NH_3C_6/H_4C_2H_4_6/H_4NH_3)CuCl_4$.
The $Ca_{1-x}$Sr$_{x}$S:CuCl TFEL devices were fabricated by electron-beam deposition system and luminescent characteristics of the TFEL devices were studied. The SrS and CaS powders were mixed to form $Ca_{1-x}$Sr$_{x}$S host materials and 0.2 at% of CuCl was added as the activator. The luminance(lao) and peak emission wavelength of CaS:CuCl TFEL devices were 9.5 cd/m$^2$ and 492 nm, respectively. The luminance(L$_{30}$) and peak emission wavelength of SrS:CuCl TFEL devices were 633 cd/m$^2$ and 500 nm, respectively. It seems that the addition of CaS into the SrS host material generates blue shift of the EL emission characteristics but reduces the luminance and the luminous efficiency of the $Ca_{1-x}$Sr$_{x}$S:CuCl TFEL devices drastically.
Cu(II) hexaazamacrotricyclic complexes $[Cu(L)](ClO_4)_2$ and $[(Cu(L)Cl]ClO_4$, where L = 1,3,6,9,11,14-hexaazatricyclo$[12.2.1.1^{6,9}]octadecane(L_1)$ or 1,3,6,10,12,15-hexaazatricyclo$[13.3.1.1^{6,10}]eicosane(L_2)$, have been prepared by the simple template condensation reactions of triamines, diethylenetriamine for $L_1$, and N-(2-aminoethyl)-1,3-propanediamine for $L_2$, with formaldehyde in the presence of $Cu(OAc)_2\;or\;CuCl_2$. The Cu(II) complexes of $L_1$ contain two 1,3-diazacyclopentane ring moieties and those of $L_2$ contain two 1,3-diazacyclohexane ring moieties that are fused to the 14-membered macrocyclic framework. Spectra indicate that complexes $[Cu(L)](ClO_4)_2\;and\;[Cu(L)Cl]ClO_4$ have square-planar and square-pyramidal chromophores, respectively. square-planar $[Cu(L)](ClO_4)_2$ are remarkably stable against ligand dissociation in acidic aqueous solutions. Square-pyramidal $[Cu(L)Cl]ClO_4$ complexes dissociate their axial Cl-ligands easily in aqueous solutions to form $[Cu(L)H_2O]^{2+}$ species. Infrared and UV/vis absorption spectra of the Cu(II) complexes reveal that Cu-N interactions and the ligand field strengths are significantly weaker in the complexes of $L_2$ than in the complexes of $L_1$.
