  • In direct methanol fuel cells(DMFCs), it is well known that methanol crossover severely reduces the cell performance and the cell efficiency. There are a number of design and operating parameters that influence the methanol crossover. This indicates that a DMFC demands a high degree of optimization. For the successful design and operation of a DMFC system, a better understanding of methanol crossover phenomena is essential. The main objective of this study is to examine methanol-crossover phenomena in DMFCs. In this study, 1D DMFC model previously developed by Ko et al. is used. The simulation results were compared with methanol-crossover data that were measured by Eccarius et al. The numerical predictions agree well with the methanol crossover data and the model successfully captures key experimental trends.

출력 위상을 고려한 크로스오버 접합의 해석 및 설계 (Analysis and Design of Crossover Junctions including Output Phase)

  • 본 논문에서는 크로스오버 접합에서 출력 위상을 고려한 회로해석 및 설계 방법을 제시한다. 먼저 even-odd 분석을 통해 임의의 위상을 가지는 크로스오버 접합이 만족시켜야 할 반사계수 및 임피던스 파라미터에 대한 일반해를 해석적으로 유도하였다. 또한 주어진 일반해를 실제적인 크로스오버 접합회로 구조에 적용하여 임의의 츨력 위상값을 가지는 크로스오버 접합의 정확한 설계 공식을 도출하였으며 그 결과가 기존의 연구에서 제시된 결과와 부합함을 확인하였다. 이를 이용하여 설계된 회로가 설계목표와 일치하는 정확한 출력 위상을 가지는 크로스오버 접합으로서의 성능을 만족하는 것을 입증하였다.

  • The major operations of Evolutionary Computation include crossover, mutation, competition and selection. Although selection does not create new individuals like crossover or mutation, a poor selection mechanism may lead to problems such as taking a long time to reach an optimal solution or even not finding it at all. In view of this, this paper proposes a hybrid Evolutionary Programming (EP) algorithm that exhibits a strong capability to move toward the global optimum even when stuck at a local minimum using a synergistic combination of the following three basic ideas. First, a "local selection" technique is used in conjunction with the normal tournament selection to help escape from a local minimum. Second, the mutation step has been improved with respect to the Fast Evolutionary Programming technique previously developed in our research group. Finally, the crossover and mutation operations of the Genetic Algorithm have been added as a parallel independent branch of the search operation of an EP to enhance search diversity.

  • Currently in Korea, neutral sections in front of substations and sectioning posts are greatly divided into AC/DC sections and AC/AC sections. Considering catenary damage and safety issues trains pass crossover by coasting driving at notch-off. However in cases of Japan, China, or Taiwan, the usage of automatic crossover system makes it possible to pass at notch-on, enhancing high-speed railway operation for efficiency, and stability. These are the purposes of developing automatic power crossover system in neutral sections. This paper introduces two methods to detect the position of a train required to activate automatic crossover systems in neutral sections. The optimal method is expected in terms of the distance of neutral section.

만성 대퇴정맥 결찰술 후 정맥 Crossover 우회로 조성술 -1예 보고- (Vein Crossover Bypass Surgery for a Chronic Femoral Vein Ligation -A case report-)

  • 5세 때에 교통사고 후 지혈목적으로 대퇴정맥 결찰을 받은 26세 남자 환자가 입원 5일 전 축구하다 생긴 좌측 하지의 정맥궤양에서 나타난 출혈을 주소로 입원하였다. 환자는 좌측 하지에 하지 정맥류의 발생과 정체성 피부염과 정맥 궤양이 있었다. 좌측 대퇴정맥 혈류를 우측 대퇴정맥으로 환류시키려고 우측 대복재정맥을 이용하여 동정맥루가 있는 우회로 조성술을 시행하였다. 우회로의 원활한 개통을 위해 만든 동정맥루는 처음 수술 6주 후에 폐쇄하였다. 환자는 수술 후 6개월 간 좌측 하지 둘레가 비교적 일정하게 유지되고 있다. 이와 같이 만성 대퇴정맥 결찰 환자에 대한 정맥 crossover 우회로 조성술 1예를 치험하였기에 보고하는 바이다.

Development of Operation Strategy to improve Efficiency for Twin Automated Transfer Crane in an Automated Container Terminal

  • In order to become a mega hub port, major ports all over the world are making every effort to enhance their productivity through efficiency of internal operation. Accordingly, in order to enhance the competitiveness of a container terminal, an automated container terminal is considered as the best alternative. An automated container terminal is using such automated handling equipment as AGV(Automated Guided Vehicles) and ATC(Automated Transfer Crane). The efficient equipment operation plays a critical role in enhancing the productivity of an automated container terminal. In an automated container terminal, the most important equipments are AGV and ATC. Each block of containers with a vertical layout is generally operating two ATCs. The two ATCs can be crossed or not at each block. In the case of operating crossover ATC, it has an advantage of high flexibility that ATC work is possible at both TP(Transfer Point) of each block. But it has also a disadvantage that the yard has to be operated at a low storage level of containers in the terminal yard. Recently, for automated container terminals, which are being prepared for opening in Korea, they plan to use uncrossed twin ATC in order to make the storage level of their yards high at a low cost. Therefore, studies have to be made in order to increase the efficiency of twin ATC system based on the flexibility that the crossover ATC system has. This research aims to suggest an operation strategy to improve efficiency of twin ATC at each storage block in a yard.

  • A 40-year-old male developed the swelling of the right leg one month after trauma on cycling. Conservative measures to relieve the swelling of the right leg for three months were failed. Venogram showed complete obstruction of the right common iliac vein. Crossover bypass [Palmas operation] with great saphenous vein graft for relief of venous stasis of the right leg was performed. Postoperatively, the swelling of the right leg was subsided and able to walk without edema of the right leg.

고분자전해질 연료전지 구동 중 수소투과도 측정 (Measurement of Hydrogen Crossover During PEMFC Operation)

  • 고분자 막 성능 평가 및 내구성 평가에 이용하기 위해 고분자전해질 연료전지(PEMFC) 구동 중에 수소 크로스오버 측정이 필요하다. 수소 크로스오버 측정 시에 불활성 기체 대신에 공기를 cathode에 공급하면서 기체 크로마토그래프로 수소 농도를 cathode 출구에서 분석하였다. PEMFC 구동 중 고분자 막을 통과한 수소는 cathode에서 산소와 반응해 불활성 가스를 공급할 때에 비해 수소 농도가 감소하였다. cathode 공기 공급 유량이 증가하면 수소 농도가 감소했고, 셀의 온도와 습도, 압력이 증가하면 cathode의 수소 농도는 증가했다. 일반적인 PEMFC 구동 조건에서 $120mA/cm^2$ 전류밀도에서 수소농도는 약 5.0 ppm이었다.

고분자 전해질 연료전지에서 Pinhole 있는 막의 열화 (Degradation of Membrane With Pinholes in PEMFC)

  • The most failure mode of PEM fuel cell is gas crossover caused by pinhole formation in MEAs. The degradation phenomena of MEA with pinholes were evaluated in various accelerated operation condition, such as OCV, low humidity and high partial pressure of oxygen. The performances of MEA with pinholes were almost same before and after normal 144 hours operation($70^{\circ}C$, $640mA/cm^2$, 65%RH $H_2/air$). The results of accelerated operation showed that OCV and low humidity condition more deteriorated MEA than gas crossover owing to pinholes. When oxygen was used as cathode gas, the pinholes of MEA were enlarged due to heat of combustion reaction on Pt catalyst of electrodes. This combustion reaction occurred at pinholes near gas inlet and resulted in local MEA failure.
