Success Factors of Paris Baguette's Bakery Franchise Business: Industry Competition and Core Competence Analysis

  • The main goal of this study is to examine the competition intensity in the Korean bakery franchise industry and to identify the core competencies of the industry's leading company, Paris Baguette. The frameworks of PEST analysis, Cross Impact analysis, a Five Forces Model, a Value Chain, and VRIO analysis. PEST and Cross Impact analysis were employed to investigate the industry's external environment, and the results indicated that 'increased attention on corporate's Creating Shared Value (CSV) activities' is the most influential factor among others. The analysis using the Five Forces Model found industry rivalry and substitutes were the greatest threats. Finally, the results of Value Chain and VRIO analysis identified four core competencies of Paris Baguette: its CEO's craftsmanship, e-procurement system, quality of dormant dough, and hub system. Multiple managerial implications are suggested for practitioners in the marketing area, especially in the saturated market environment.

  • In recent years, most of Supply Chain Management literature has emphasized the importance of information sharing among supply chain partners, but empirical researches are few until now, especially in Korea. The purpose of this study is to develop an empirical model focusing on information exchange among partners in supply chain, and to analyze the main factors influencing the causal relationship between information exchange and performance. Based on cross-sectional questionnaire survey on Korean manufacturing firms, this study analyzed the factors influencing information exchange such as environmental factors, organizational factors, relationship factors, and information characteristics of the sample firms. Our major findings might provide many useful insights for managers in exploring the most efficient system for information exchange among partners in the context of SCM.

A 120 GHz Voltage Controlled Oscillator Integrated with 1/128 Frequency Divider Chain in 65 nm CMOS Technology

  • A 120 GHz voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) with a divider chain including an injection locked frequency divider (ILFD) and six static frequency dividers is demonstrated using 65-nm CMOS technology. The VCO is designed based on the LC cross-coupled push-push structure and operates around 120 GHz. The 60 GHz ILFD at the first stage of the frequency divider chain is based on a similar topology as the core of the VCO to ensure the frequency alignment between the two circuit blocks. The static divider chain is composed of D-flip flops, providing a 64 division ratio. The entire circuit consumes a DC power of 68.5 mW with the chip size of $1385{\times}835{\mu}m^2$.

크로스도킹 시스템의 최적 운영 전략 (Optimal Operational Strategy for Cross Docking Systems)

  • A cross docking operation involves multiple trucks (known as inbound trucks) that deliver items from suppliers to a distribution center and multiple trucks (known as outbound trucks) that ship items from the distribution center to customers. Based on customer demands, an inbound truck may have its items transferred to multiple outbound trucks. Similarly, an outbound truck can receive its consignments from multiple inbound trucks. A unique characteristic of a cross docking system is the absence or prohibition of long term storage of items at the distribution center. Items delivered to the distribution center from suppliers are shipped to customers as soon as possible without being placed in storage in the distribution center. The objective of this paper is to develop the optimal operational strategy for finding the best truck docking sequence for both inbound and outbound trucks in order to minimize total operation time where a temporary storage area is not available in a cross docking system.

$\alpha_1$(I)및 $\alpha_2$(I)사슬 콜라겐의 질량분석법 개발 연구 (Development of mass spectrometric analysis of $\alpha_1$(I) and $\alpha_2$(I) chain Collagen)

  • 포유동물에서 중요한 구조단백질인 콜라겐은 다양한 조직내 단백질 조성과 사슬간 복잡한 가교결합의 존재로 인해 그 구조가 복잡하고 다양하여, 직접적으로 분석할 적당한 방법이 없었다. 본 연구에서는 간단한 전처리만으로 다수의 생체분자 시료에 대해 정확한 분자량 측정이 가능한 매트릭스 보조 레이저 탈착/이온화 비행시간 질량분석법(MALDI-TOF MS)을 이용하여 콜라겐과 조각화된 콜라겐을 분석하고 이의 아미노산 서열을 사중극자-비행시간 직렬 질량분석법(Q-TOF MS/MS)으로 확인하여, 시료 중의 콜라겐의 종류에 대한 정보를 확인하여, MALDI-TOF 질량분석을 이용한 콜라겐 분석에서 콜라겐의 종류를 쉽게 예측할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 쥐의 꼬리에서 분리한 콜라겐을 SDS-PAGE로 분리한 결과 10개의 band를 얻을 수 있었는데, 같은 시료를 MALDI-TOF MS로 확인하여 각 band의 정확한 분자량을 결정할 수 있었다. SDS-PACE상의 10개의 분리된 band에 대해 각각 tryptic digestion후 MALDI-TOF 질량분석을 수행한 결과 4개의 band에서 type I 콜라겐의 $\alpha_1$-chain내의 fragment인 Gly1056-Arg1073을 확인할 수 있었고, 5개의 band에서 type I 콜라겐의 $\alpha_2$-chain내의 fragment인 Gly985-Arg1002을 확인하였다. 잔재한 콜라겐의 가교결합으로 인해 예상되는 fragment중 둘만이 확인되었지만, 확인된 fragment를 통해 적어도 7개의 band에서는 type I콜라겐이 존재함을 확인할 수 있었다. 확인된 두 콜라겐 flagment의 아미노산 서열을 Q-TOF MS/MS로 분석한 결과 MALDI-TOF MS에서의 예측과 일치함을 확인할 수 있었으며, 이를 통해 확인된 두 fragment에 의한 peak을 지문으로 하여 MALDI-TOF MS측정시에 시료내의 type I 콜라겐의 존재를 쉽게 확인할 수 있음을 볼 수 있었다.

한국과 해외 우수 제조기업의 공급사슬 통합 현황에 대한 탐색적 고찰 : 자동차, 전자, 기계산업을 중심으로 (An Exploratory Comparison of Supply Chain Integration Practices of Korean and International Manufacturing Plants in Automotive, Electronics, and Machinery Industries)

  • This study compares supply chain integration practices of high performing manufacturing plants in Korea and those in the U.S., Japan, and six European countries. Data were drawn from the High Performance Manufacturing(HPM) Round 3, a joint data-collection effort on manufacturing and supply chain management. Specifically, in the automotive, electronics, and machinery industries, we selected twenty Korean plants with high performance reputation and chose the same number of non-Korean plants(HPM top 20), based upon their competitive manufacturing capability index and customer satisfaction index. The Korean plants do not significantly differ from HPM top 20 plants in that internal value creation activities are coordinated and integrated at the corporate level and between plants. The Korean plants, however, demonstrated more integration with suppliers than with customers, and only the two of them were classified as 'outward facing', which pursues greater integration with both customers and suppliers. Unbalanced and lower integration with customers of the Korean plants was attributed to the lower than expected manufacturing capability and customer satisfaction. Implications for supply chain professionals were discussed.

Solution Structure of an Active Mini-Proinsulin, M2PI: Inter-chain Flexibility is Crucial for Insulin Activity

  • M2PI is an active single chain mini-proinsulin with a 9-residue linker containing the turn-forming sequence 'YPGDV' between the B- and A-chains, but which retains about 50% of native insulin receptor binding activity. The refolding efficiency of M2PI is higher than proinsulin by 20-40% at alkaline pH, and native insulin is generated by the enzymatic conversion of M2PI. The solution structure of M2PI was determined by NMR spectroscopy. The global structure of M2PI is similar to that of native insulin, but the flexible linker between the B- and A-chains perturbed the N-terminal A-chain and C-terminal B-chain. The helix in the N-terminal A-chain is partly perturbed and the ${\beta}$-turn in the B-chain is disrupted in M2PI. However, the linker between the two chains was completely disordered indicating that the designed turn was not formed under the experimental conditions (20% acetic acid). Considering the fact that an insulin analogue, directly cross-linked between the C-terminus of the B-chain and the N-terminus of the A-chain, has negligible binding activity, a flexible linker between the two chains is sufficient to keep binding activity of M2PI, but the perturbed secondary structures are detrimental to receptor binding.

  • 의료산업분야에서도 헬스케어 공급망관리는 서비스품질 개선과 운영비용 절감을 위한 핵심도구로 많은 주목을 받고 있다. 특히 대형병원의 경우 서비스품질 제고와 병행하여 지속적으로 증가하기만 하는 헬스케어비용을 줄이기 위해 노력하는 현 상황에서 공급망 부문의 성과제고는 전략적으로 더욱 중요해지고 있다. 본 논문은 공급망관리를 통해 대형병원의 성과제고에 기여할 수 있는 병원운영상의 전략적 이슈에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 기존 연구논문 및 관련 자료분석을 통해 대형병원의 헬스케어 공급망관리의 기본 틀을 제시하고 운영 과정상의 정보 가시성과 공유 그리고 표준화 등이 핵심 요소임을 논리적으로 제시하였다. 또한 실제적인 공급망 운영을 위해 효율적인 계획수립과 운영프로세스, 각종 기자재의 추적가능성 극대화를 위한 RFID 활용, 의약품과 각종 소모품재고 절감을 위한 크로스 도킹시스템의 도입도 제안하였으며, 본 연구에서 논의한 공급망관리 운영기법에 대한 시사점도 제시하였다.

NMR Studies of the Conformation and Stability of the 4' - Aminomethyl - 4,5',8 - Trimethylpsoralen (AMT) Cross - Linked DNA Octamer Duplex, $d(GGGTACCC)_2$

  • The 4'-aminomethyl-4,5',8-trimethylpsoralen (AMT) has been used as intercalating DNA binding drugs in the photo-chemotherapy of skin diseases. The conformation and stability of DNA octamer duplex, $d(GGGTACCC)_2$, cross-linked with AMT has been studied by NMR spectroscopy. All the proton resonances of the psoralen cross-linked octamer were assigned and meting temperature studies were carried out based on the assignment of the proton resonances. The aromatic proton chemical shift data suggest that the conformation of the helix cross-linked with psoralen is destabilized more to furanside of the psoralen. possibly due to the protrusion of the aminomethyl side chain of the psoralen.

Development of multigroup cross section library generation system TPAMS

  • Kylin-2 is an advanced neutronics lattice code, developed by Nuclear Power Institute of China. High-precision multigroup cross section library is need for KYLIN-2 to carry out simulation of current pressurized water reactor (PWR) and advanced reactor. In this paper a multigroup cross section library generation system named TPAMS was developed, the methods in TPAMS dealing with resonance data such as subgroup parameters, lambda factor, resonance integral were discussed. Moreover, the depletion chain simplification method was studied. TPAMS can produce multigroup library in binary and ASIIC formats, including detailed data contents for resonance, transport and depletion calculations. A multigroup cross section library has been generated for KYLIN-2 based on TPAMS system. The multigroup cross section library was verified through the analysis of various criticality and burnup benchmarks, the values of multiplication factor and isotope density were compared with the experiment data. Numerical results demonstrate the accuracy of the multigroup cross section library and the reliability of the multigroup cross section library generation system TPAMS.
