  • A reliable set of low-energy electron collision cross sections for the triethoxysilane (TRIES) molecule was derived based on the measured electron transport coefficients for a pure TRIES molecule by using an electron swarm method and a two-term approximation of the Boltzmann equation. The electron transport coefficients calculated using the derived set are in good agreement with experimental value over a wide range of E/N values (ratio of the electric field E to the neutral number density N). The present electron collision cross section set for the TRIES molecule, therefore, is the most reliable so far for plasma discharges and for materials processing using the TRIES molecule. Moreover, the electron transport coefficients for the TRIES-Ar and the $TRIES-O_2$ mixtures were also calculated and analyzed over a wide range of E/N for the first time.

  • This paper performs emotion classification test to find out the best parameter of electroencyphalogram(EEG) signal. Linear predictor coefficients, band cross-correlation coefficients of fast Fourier transform(FFT) and autoregressive model spectra are used as the parameters of 10-channel EEG signal. A multi-layer neural network is used as the pattern classifier. Four emotions for relaxation, joy, sadness, irritation are induced by four university students of an acting circle. Electrode positions are Fp1, Fp2, F3, F4, T3, T4, P3, P4, O1, O2. As a result, the Linear predictor coefficients showed the best performance.

  • Energy distribution function for electrons in SF6-Ar mixtures gas used by MCS-BEq algorithm has been analysed over the E/N range 30~300[Td] by a two term Boltzmann equation and a Monte Carlo Simulation using a set of electron cross sections determined by other authors experimentally the electron swarm parameters for 0.2[%] and 0.5[%] $SF_6-Ar$ mixtures were measured by time-of-flight(TOF) method, The results show that the deduced longitudinal diffusion coefficients and transverse diffusion coefficients agree reasonably well with theoretical for a rang of E/N values. The results obtained from Boltzmann equation method and Monte Carlo simulation have been compared with present and previously obtained data and respective set of electron collision cross sections of the molecules.

  • Aerodynamic characteristics of cross section shape is an important parameter for the wind response and structural stability of long span bridges. Numerical simulation methods have been introduced to estimate the aerodynamic characteristics for more detailed flow analysis and cost saving in place of existing wind tunnel experiment. In this study, the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation and large eddy simulation( LES) technique were used to estimate lift, drag and moment coefficients of four cross sections. The Strouhal numbers were also determined by the fast Fourier transform of time series of the lift coefficient. The values from simulations and references were in a good agreement with average difference of 16.7% in coefficients and 8.5% in the Strouhal numbers. The success of the simulations is expected to attribute to the practical use of numerical estimation in construction engineering and wind load analysis.

  • One of noticeable features in the cross flow fan is that a working fluid passes through impeller blade twice without distinction between the inlet and exit angles. Also, it does produce higher circumferential velocity than other types of blade at the same flow rate in accordance with the application of the forward curved shape. However, a design theory for the cross-flow fall has not yet been formed owing to an eccentric vortex, which is the remarkable characteristics, occurred in a cross-flow fan. Furthermore, the eccentric vortex, which is difficult to control the size and position, is the important cause of performance decrease. In this study, experiments we carried out to estimate the similarity of the cross-flow fan with various scales and rotational velocity changes. Pressure coefficients to flow coefficients with various scales of the cross-flow fan are plotted to the application of the general similarity law of the turbomachinery in the cross-flow fan with Archimedes spiral, which is the important factor having an effect on it.

  • The electron transport coefficients in $SP_{6}$ gas is calculated and analysed for range of E/N values from 150∼800(Td) by a Monte Carlo simulation, using a set of electron collision cross sections determined by the authors. The result of the Monte Carlo simulation such as electron drift velocity, ionization and electron attachment coefficients, longitudinal and transverse diffusion coefficients in neatly agreement with the respective experimental and theoretical for a range of E/N. The validity of the results obtained has been confirmed by a Monte Carlo simulation carried out parallel to the analysis.

  • We measured the electron transport coefficients, the electron drift velocity, W, and the longitudinal diffusion coefficient, $D_{L}$, over the E/N range from 0.03 to 100 Td and gas pressure range from 0.133 to 122 kPa in the 0.526% and 5.05% $C_{3}F_{8}$-Ar mixtures by the double shutter drift tube with variable drift distance. And we calculated these electron transport coefficients by using multi-term approximation of Boltzmann equation analysis. We determined the electron collision cross sections set for $C_{3}F_{8}$ molecule by the comparison of measurement and calculation. Our special attention in the present study was focused upon the inelastic collision cross sections of the $C_{3}F_{8}$ molecule.

  • Steel tubular towers are commonly used in UHV and long crossing transmission lines. By considering effects of the model scale, the solidity ratio and the ratio of the mean width to the mean height, wind tunnel tests under different wind speeds on twenty tubular steel tower body models and twenty-six tubular steel cross-arm models were completed. Drag coefficients and shielding factors of the experimental tower body models and cross-arm models in wind directional axis for typical skewed angles were obtained. The influence of the lift forces on the skewed wind load factors of tubular steel tower bodies was evaluated. The skewed wind load factors, the wind load distribution factors in transversal and longitudinal direction were calculated for the tubular tower body models and cross-arm models, respectively. Fitting expressions for the skewed wind load factors of tubular steel bodies and cross-arms were determined through nonlinear fitting analysis. Parameters for skewed wind loads determined by wind tunnel tests were compared with the regulations in applicable standards. Suggestions on the drag coefficients, the skewed wind load factors and the wind load distribution factors were proposed for tubular steel transmission towers.

  • On the motivation by an integrative study of multi-omics data, we are interested in estimating the structure of the sparse cross correlation matrix of two high-dimensional random vectors. We rewrite the problem as a multiple testing problem and propose a new method to estimate the sparse structure of the cross correlation matrix. To do so, we test the correlation coefficients simultaneously and threshold the correlation coefficients by controlling FRD at a predetermined level α. Further, we apply the proposed method and an alternative adaptive thresholding procedure by Cai and Liu (2016) to the integrative analysis of the protein expression data (X) and the mRNA expression data (Y) in TCGA breast cancer cohort. By varying the FDR level α, we show that the new procedure is consistently more efficient in estimating the sparse structure of cross correlation matrix than the alternative one.
