고압가열방식을 이용한 쌍별귀뚜라미 갈색 육수의 품질특성 (Quality Characteristics of Two-spotted Cricket (Gryllus bimaculatus) Brown Stock by High Pressure Cooking)

  • This study aimed to make stock for purpose of reducing visual image, and the stock was used with two-spotted cricket as general food material of edible insects. According to the results, color value was darkest and brownest with increased boiling time, salinity and $^{\circ}Brix$ increased significantly (p<0.001). With increased boiling time, pH and moisture content was the lowest. In the total content of free amino acids was highest in 45 min with boiling time. The quantitative descriptive analysis of two-spotted cricket stock was evaluated, which was the strongest with increased boiling time, and acceptance test was best results in TCS45. Therefore, it was possible to produce stock with excellent sensuality which was used by high-pressure method for 45 in making a two-spotted cricket stock. It was judged that making insects food can reduce visual aversion as stock. So, the possibility of food ingredient was identified so that two-spotted cricket led to the increase of domestic interests.

생쥐 모델에서 쌍별 귀뚜라미 발효 분말의 발모 촉진제로서의 유익한 효과 (Beneficial Effects of Fermented Cricket Powder as a Hair Growth Promoting Agent in a Mice Model)

  • 곤충과 같은 새로운 단백질 공급원은 인간의 영양을 위해 제안됩니다. 단백질 가용성은 곤충 특성에 영향을 받을 수 있습니다. 발효를 통해 독특한 특성을 지닌 다양한 곤충 기반 성분 및 식품을 얻을 수 있습니다. 그러나 발효된 식용 곤충이 단백질 가용성에 미치는 영향은 알려져 있지 않습니다. 발효 쌍별 귀뚜라미 분말은 주로 단백질로 구성됩니다. 이전에는 귀뚜라미 분말의 경구 투여가 남성형 탈모증에서 모발 성장을 개선하는 것으로 보고 되었습니다. 본 연구의 목적은 동물모델에서 쌍별 귀뚜라미 발효분말의 모발 촉진 활성을 평가하는 것입니다. 수컷 C57BL/6 마우스(25-30 g)를 사용했습니다. 실험을 위해서 마우스의 복부 털(2×2.5 cm)을 부드럽게 제거했습니다. 그룹은 다음과 같이 처리되었습니다. 정상 급이군(쌍별귀뚜라미 분말 없음), 쌍별귀뚜라미 분말 급이군 및 발효 쌍별 귀뚜라미 분말 급이군으로 실험군은 구성 되었습니다. 음식은 11주 동안 공급하였습니다. 관찰을 수행하고 대조군 및 실험군의 결과를 비교했습니다. 대조군과 비교 하였을 때, 발효 쌍별 귀뚜라미 분말의 적용은 유의하게(p<0.01) 모발 성장을 촉진했습니다. C57BL/6 실험의 결과는 쌍별 귀뚜라미 발효 분말은 7주 후 모발 성장이 급격히 증가 되었음을 확인시켜줍니다. 급이 7주 후, 성장기의 모발 비율을 정상 급이군과 쌍별 귀뚜라미 분말 급이군에서 각각 비교한 결과, 발효 쌍별 귀뚜라미 급이군에서 약 125% 및 약 120% 증가하였습니다. 결론적으로 쌍별 귀뚜라미 발효 분말의 적용은 발모를 촉진하기 때문에 탈모증 치료의 유망한 대안으로 볼 수 있습니다. 또한 구성을 고려할 때 아미노산과 같은 미량 원소가 이러한 효과에 기여했을 수 있습니다.

Safety evaluation of cricket(Gryllus bimaculatus) extract in Sprague-Dawley rats

  • Recently, research investment in the improvement of food safety as a food source and specializing of nutritional source of edible insects is being actively conducted. Cricket especially has been attracting considerable interest in entomophagy; however, research on the safety assessment of cricket is limited. This study investigated the effects of cricket ethanol extract when orally administrated in Sprague-Dawley rats. Here, we performed a 4 wk repeated oral dose toxicity test in Sprague-Dawley rats following the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development test guidelines 407 under Good Laboratory Practice regulation. Rats were randomly allocated 4 groups: vehicle control, 250, 500, 1,000 mg/kg test groups and administrated based on body weight for 28 d. The animals were observed for mortalities and clinical signs, body weight changes, food and water consumption. At the end of treatment period, blood and urine were collected and analyzed. Subsequently, the animals were sacrificed and subjected to gross pathological examination and organ weight measurement. The organs were preserved for histopathological examination. The results showed that there were no systemic toxicological effects related with the cricket ethanol extract in the 4 wk oral repeated dose toxicity study. It is considered that NOAEL of cricket ethanol extract is greater than 1,000 mg/kg/d and there was no target organ detected.

  • Kalman Filter is an efficient recursive filter that estimates the state of a dynamic system from a series of incomplete and noisy measurement. The filter is very powerful in the field of autonomous and assisted navigation. In this paper, we carry out comparative stduy to validate the performance of the application of Kalman Filter. We will build personal localization system based on Cricket mote, our system can present the real-time position of person when the man with PDA moves around. The proposed system is composed of cricket sensor networks, PDA and host computer. There is one listener attached to the PDA. The PDA will get the distance data from the listener synchronously. It will calculate the position of the person in the coordinate of the Cricket system with the trilateration method. Furthermore, it sends the real-time position information to the host computer by Bluetooth. The host computer will use Kalman Filter to process data and get the final estimated track of the person.

  • Cricket is an excellent indoor location system and it can successfully solve many critical problems such as user privacy, decentralized administration. But in some practical applications, Cricket sometimes didn't provide location with enough accuracy, and was unable to determine when it was giving inaccurate information. For getting high-accuracy tracking performance from location data contaminated with noise, some types of filters are required. Kalman Filter is an efficient recursive filter that estimates the state of a dynamic system from a series of incomplete and noisy measurement. The filter is very powerful in the field of autonomous and assisted navigation. In this paper, we carry out comparative studies to validate the performance of the application of Kalman Filter to Cricket based localization system.

피코 크리켓을 활용한 로봇 프로그래밍 학습이 문제해결책과 흥미에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Robot Programming Learning using Pico Cricket on Problem Solving Ability and Interest)

  • 본 연구는 교육용 로봇의 한 종류인 피코 크리켓을 활용한 프로그래밍 학습에 있어서 문제해결력과 프로그래밍 흥미에 미치는 효과를 검증하는 실험연구이다. 정보 과목의 핵심 내용이라고 볼 수 있는 프로그래밍 학습은 문제해결력을 신장시키는 데 효과적인 과목이다. 그러나 프로그래밍 학습은 프로그램의 문법적인 사용법을 익혀야 하는 부가적이면서 어려운 학습내용 때문에 그 효과를 제대로 발휘하지 못하고 있다. 교육용 로봇은 놀이적 요소가 포함되어 프로그래밍 학습에 쉽게 다가가게 하는 장점이 있다. 그 중에 피코 크리켓은 기존 교육용 로봇이 지적 받아왔던 경쟁을 유도하지 않고 협동적인 학습 환경을 조성한다는 장점이 있다. 또한 피코 크리켓은 프로그래밍 학습을 기피하는 것으로 지적 받고 있는 여학생들에게 그들의 관심 영역인 생활 중심적이고 협력적인 학습 내용을 제시하여 줄 수 있어 여학생들을 프로그래밍 학습에 관심을 갖게 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 중학교 남학생과 여학생을 대상으로 피코 크리켓을 활용한 프로그래밍 학습이 문제해결력과 프로그래밍 흥미에 미치는 효과와 남학생과 여학생의 비교 연구를 실시하였다.

  • 본 논문에서 제안하는 방안은 Cricket 방식을 사용하는 위치 인식 시스템에서 전력 소모를 억제하는 방안이다. 복수의 전송 모듈인 Beacon 과 유저당 한 개씩 갖게 되는 수신모듈 Listener 로 구성되는 기본적인 Cricket 구조에서 전송 모듈인 Beacon 은 일반적으로 랜덤 방식으로 송신을 행하게 된다. 이럴 경우 사용자가 없는 구역의 Beacon 이 초음파를 계속 발생함으로써 불필요한 전력 낭비가 생긴다. 이를 막기 위해 사용자가 있는 구역의 Beacon 들에게 우선순위를 부여하여 이 Beacon 들이 우선적으로 전송을 행하게 하는 방안을 고안한다. 이 방안은 시스템의 규모가 클수록 그 효율을 발휘한다. 유저가 있는 영역의 시스템만 가동되므로 불필요한 Beacon 전력 낭비를 줄일 수 있기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 기본적인 Cricket 구조의 설명에 이어, 제안하는 방안에 대해 논하고 마지막으로 시뮬레이션을 통한 성능 분석을 행하였다.

Effect of Temperature on Development and Reproduction of the Emma Field Cricket, Teleogryllus emma(Orthoptera: Gryllidae)

  • To establish the indoor-rearing system of the emma field cricket, Teleogryllus emma, the effects of temperature on development and reproduction of the emma cricket have been studied. The influence of temperature on developmental periods of emma field cricket was investigated under the eight temperatures of 15, 18, 21, 25, 27, 29, 31 and $35^{\circ}C$, under $60{\pm}5%$ R.H. and 16L:8D photoperiod. The developmental periods of T. emma nymphs had a range of 124.8 days to 44.4 days at the temperature of $21^{\circ}C$ and $35^{\circ}C$, respectively. At $15^{\circ}C$ and $18^{\circ}C$, however, all tested individuals died before emergence. The highest survival rate was 90% at $25^{\circ}C$, but there were no statistically significant differences among the temperatures. The adult weight increased with increasing temperatures although the weight at $35^{\circ}C$ was decreased. In addition, the influence of temperature on reproduction of emma field cricket was investigated under three temperatures $22^{\circ}C,\;25^{\circ}C\;and\;28^{\circ}C$, under $60{\pm}5%$ R.H. and 16L:8D photoperiod. The longevity of female/male adults were 65.8/79.2 days, 68.5/67.8 days, 46.8/57.4 days at the temperature $22^{\circ}C,\;25^{\circ}C\;and\;28^{\circ}C$, respectively. The preoviposition periods were 32.5 days at $22^{\circ}C,\;22.9^{\circ}C$ days at $25^{\circ}C$ and 22.1 days at $28^{\circ}C$. The highest average fecundity per female was 737.3 at $25^{\circ}C$.

  • This study was carried out to investigate preventive effects of extracts of cricket, Gryllus bimaculatus, against the 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin(TCDD)-induced toxicity in 7-week-old Sprague-Dawley male rats. Thirty five male rats were divided into 5 groups: one normal control group treated with vehicle and saline (G1); one TCDD-treated group by single intraperitoneal injection (G2); three preventive groups (G3, G4, and G5). The last three groups, G3, G4, and G5, were fed on cricket extracts (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg, respectively) for 2 weeks before TCDD treatment. Various harmful effects were shown by TCDD treatment. The body weights of rats were lost by TCDD. In addition, severe hypertrophy and color change, and the weights gaining were found in the livers of TCDD-treated rats. It was observed that the cytoplasmic vacuolizations and inflammatory cell infiltration around portal triad in the liver. TCDD also elevated the serum activity levels of alanine transaminase(ALT) and aspartate transaminase(AST). However, those losses were compensated by cricket extracts treatment at the level of 200 mg/kg. These findings indicate that cricket extracts may have protective effects against TCDD-induced toxicities in rats.

Oral Toxicity Study and Skin Sensitization Test of a Cricket

  • Crickets have been attracting considerable interest in the field of nutrition and toxicology due to the global exhaustion of food resulting from a growing population. The cricket is normally eaten in several countries after roasting, similar to the grasshopper; however, safety evaluation data on cricket powder is limited. Here, we performed general toxicity studies of cricket powder including a single, 2-week repeated dose range evaluation test, a 13-week repeated oral dose toxicity test in Sprague-Dawley rats, a single oral dose toxicity test in Beagle dogs, and a skin sensitization test in guinea pigs following the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development test guidelines 406 and 408 in addition to Good Laboratory Practice. To investigate the NOAEL and target organs of cricket powder, Sprague-Dawley rats were allocated to 4 groups: vehicle control, 1,250 mg/kg, 2,500 mg/kg, 5,000 mg/kg dose test groups and cricket powder was administered over 13 weeks after single dose and dose range finding studies in rats based on the results of the single oral administration toxicity study in rats and Beagle dogs. The results of the study showed that the NOAEL of cricket powder was over 5,000 mg/kg for both sexes of rats without adverse effects in a 13-week repeated oral toxicity study and there was no skin hypersensitivity reaction. Therefore, our results reveal that crickets can be widely used as a new substitute food or nutrient resource.
