The primary objective of this study is to construct more simple and reasonable rheological model and propose a methodology for predicting a phenomenon of concrete creep. Deformations of concrete under sustained stress can be expressed by the sum of immediately elastic deformation, time-dependent and time-independent short-term creep, and long-term creep according to the mechanism and time-dependency. To simulate these deformations, a rheological model having six parameters was constructed. In the composing of each parameter, the microprestress-solidification theory and design model code were incorporated together with the numerical approach for the components which can not be theoretically approached. Finally, actual test data were applied in the verification of the proposed model, and suitability of the model was confirmed by comparisons with existing predicting models and design codes.
This study was carried out to investigate the long-term deformation of superplasticized concrete. Compressive strength, shrinkage, creep and creep recovery of concretes with and without the superplasticizing admixture have been compared for one year. The test results on creep of superplasticized concrete were also compared with three methods of predicting creep; the ACI model, the CEB model and the BP model. According to test results, superplasticized concrete has good results in compressive strength at an age of 28 days of more than 22%, drying-shrinkage cured at air-conditioned storage less than 15%, creep deformation in air conditioned storage and loaded at an age of 28 days to 15% of compressive strength less than 11% of control concrete.

Time dependent strain due to creep is a significant factor in structural design. Multi-gene genetic programming (MGGP) and artificial neural network (ANN) are used to develop two models for prediction of creep compliance in concrete. The first model was developed by MGGP technique and the second model by hybridized MGGP-ANN. In the MGGP-ANN, the ANN is working in parallel with MGGP to predict errors in MGGP model. A total of 187 experimental data sets that contain 4242 data points are filtered from the NU-ITI database. These data are used in developing the MGGP and MGGP-ANN models. These models contain six input variables which are: average compressive strength at 28 days, relative humidity, volume to surface ratio, cement type, age at start of loading and age at the creep measurement. Practical equation based on MGGP was developed. A parametric study carried out with a group of hypothetical data generated among the range of data used to check the generalization ability of MGGP and MGGP-ANN models. To confirm validity of MGGP and MGGP-ANN models; two creep prediction code models (ACI209 and CEB), two empirical models (B3 and GL 2000) are used to compare their results with NU-ITI database.
The effect of alloying elements on the creep resistance of Zr alloys was investigated using thermal creep tests that were performed as a part of advanced fuel cladding development. The creep tests were conducted at 40$0^{\circ}C$ and 150 MPa for 240 hr. A statistical model was derived from the relationship between the steady-state creep rate and the content of individual alloying elements. The creep strengthening effect decreased in the following sequence : Nb, Sn, Mn, Cr, Mo, Fe and Cu. The high creep resistance of Sn and the opposite effect of Fe on zirconium alloys seem to be associated with their lowering and enhancing, respectively, the self-diffusivity of the zirconium matrix.

Commercially pure copper is tested to obtain creep curves at 2500C. Constitutive relations adopting continuum damage mechanics concept is found to be appropriate to model the creep defor mation up to the tertiary stage. Microscopic observation by SEM reveals that creep condition induces cavities and microcracks subsequently. The constitutive equations along with evaluated creep parameters are implemented into finite element analysis code. The analysis reproduces creep curves under step loading as well as constant loading with reasonable accuracy. Distribution and evolution of damage under creep loading are numerically simulated for two different types of notched specimen. Predicted creep life agrees quite well with rupture test results. The influence of mesh size at notch tip on rupture time prediction is studied, and a degree of refinement is suggested for the specific notched specimens.

The heat sink system for a main board in a network server computer is built on printed circuit board by an anchor structure, mounted by eutectic SnPb solder. The solder creeping is caused by a constant high temperature condition in the computer and it eventually makes fatal failures. The FE model is used to calculate the stress and predict the life of soldered anchor in the computer. In the model, Anand constitutive equation is employed to simulate creep characteristics of solder. The creep test is conducted to verify and calibrate the solder model. A special jig is designed to mitigate the flexure of printed circuit board and to get the creep deformation of solder only in the test. Test results are compared with analysis and calibration is conducted on Anand model's constants. Precise life prediction of soldered anchor in creep condition can be performed by this model.

Creep behaviors of the solder balls in a flip chip package assembly during thermal cycling test is investigated.. A material models used in the finite element analysis are viscoplastic model introduced by Anand and creep model called partitioned model. Experiment of two temperature cycles using moir$\acute{e}$ interferometry is conducted to verify the reliability of material models for the analysis of thermo-mechanical behavior. Bending deformations of the assemblies and average strains of the solder balls due to temperature change and dwell time are investigated. The results show that time-dependent shear strain of solder by the partitioned model is in excellent agreement with those by moir$\acute{e}$ interferometry, while there is considerable difference between results by Anand model and experiment. In this paper, the partitioned model is employed for the time-dependent creep analysis of the FC-PBGA package. It is also shown that the thermo-mechanical stress becomes relaxed by creep behavior at high temperature during temperature cycles.

Creep-fatigue crack growth models have been proposed employing $(C_t)_{avg}$ as a crack tip parameter characterizing the time-dependent crack growth. The basic assumptions made in these previous models were ideal creep reversal conditions such as no creep reversal and complete creep reversal condition. Due to this assumption, the applicability of the models was limited since they did not consider partial creep reversal condition which is usually observed in many engineering metals at high temperature. In this paper the creep reversal parameter, Temperature;$C_R$, which was defined by Grover, is critically evaluated to quantity the extent of partial creep reversal at the crack tip. This approach does not rely on any simplifying assumptions regarding the extent of the amount of creep reversal during the unloading part of a trapezoidal fatigue cycles. It is shown that the $(C_t)_{avg}$ value calculated for 9Cr steel agrees well with the experimentally measured one. It is argued that the extent of improvement is not significant when the result is compared with that of the conventional model which has an assumption of full creep reversal behavior.
This article gives analytical dependences for creep of concrete at heating, taking into account conditions of its drying. These dependences are based on the standard nonlinear theory of creep of concrete at a normal temperature and temperature-time analogy. For the description of creep at various stresses and temperatures the principle of superposition are used. All stages of model's creation are confirmed by the existing experimental data. Calculation examples are given.
Creep behavior of the squeeze infiltrated AS52 Mg matrix composites reinforced with 15 vol% of aluminum borate whiskers($Al_{18}B_4O_{33}w$) fabricated squeeze infiltration method was investigated. Microstructure of the composites was observed as uniformly distributed reinforcement in the matrix without any particular defects of casting pores etc.. Creep test was carried out at the temperature of 150 and $200^{\circ}C$ under the applied stress range of 60~120 MPa. The creep resistance of the composite was significantly improved comparing with the unreinforced AS52 Mg alloy. The creep behavior of composites might be interpreted with the substructure invariant model successfully for the composite. Threshold stress of the composite exist for the creep deformation of the composite. The analysis of the creep behavior of the composite with threshold stress indicated that creep deformation was controlled by the lattice diffusion process of AS52 Mg matrix at given effective stresses and temperatures. Activation energy was also calculated to check lattice diffusion controlled creep behavior of the composite.
