In this study, to evaluate the long-term behavior characteristics and the loss of prestress force, the long-term measurement of the tensile anchors in the actual construction was performed and the results were analyzed comparing with the existing estimation. As the reinforcement member used for the purpose of slope stability or uplift-resisting of the permanent structure, etc, the permanent anchor should maintain the functions during the performance period of the structure differently from the temporary anchor. However, as the time passes by, since the relaxation and the creep of the anchor occur constantly, the management for the loss of tensile force is essential to perform the functions stably. So far, the loss of the tensile force has been estimated according to the reduction of the prestress using elasticity theory and using the relaxation value according to the type of tension member and the test using the long-term measurement is limited. Therefore, in this study, the site condition and the ground were investigated for the tensile anchor in the actual construction and the long-term measurement results more than 500 days was analyzed by installing the loadcell, inclinometer and the groundwater level gauge. In addition, the long-term behavior characteristics were evaluated by comparing the disposition of the measured earth retaining wall and the tension force loss of the anchor with the existing interpretation results. In the evaluation results, the most of the tension force loss occurs within 90 days and the loss was measured less than the estimated values.

The effects of a heat treatment on the carbide formation behavior and mechanical properties of the cobalt-based superalloy X-45 were investigated here. Coarse primary carbides formed in the interdendritic region in the as-cast specimen, along with the precipitation of fine secondary carbides in the vicinity of the primary carbides. Most of the carbides formed in the interdendritic region were dissolved into the matrix by a solution treatment at $1274^{\circ}C$. Solutionizing at $1150^{\circ}C$ led to the dissolution of some carbides at the grain boundaries, though this also caused the precipitation of fine carbides in the vicinity of coarse primary carbides. A solution treatment followed by an aging treatment at $927^{\circ}C$ led to the precipitation of fine secondary carbides in the interdendritic region. Very fine carbides were precipitated in the dendritic region by an aging heat treatment at $927^{\circ}C$ and $982^{\circ}C$ without a solution treatment. The hardness value of the alloy solutionized at $1150^{\circ}C$ was somewhat higher than that in the as-cast condition; however, various aging treatments did not strongly influence the hardness value. The specimens as-cast and aged at $927^{\circ}C$ showed the highest hardness values, though they were not significantly affected by the aging time. The specimens aged only at $982^{\circ}C$ showed outstanding tensile and creep properties. Thermal exposure at high temperatures for 8000 hours led to the precipitation of carbide at the center of the dendrite region and an improvement of the creep rupture lifetimes.

There have been numerous studies to develop eco-friendly concrete. The attempt to reduce the amount of cement used is suggested as one of the solutions for eco-friendly concrete. To decrease the usage of cement, the pozzolan reaction materials are used as a mineral admixture. Hwang-toh, which is broadly deposited in Korea is a well known environment friendly material and the activated hwang-toh, which has the property of pozzolan reaction, is alternatively used as a mineral admixture of concrete. The purpose of this study is to investigate the drying shrinkage of hwang-toh concrete mixed with recycled PET fiber. Therefore, drying shrinkage experiments are performed to analyze mechanical property of hwang-toh concrete mixed with recycled PET fiber. Test results showed that the drying shrinkage is controlled by hwang-toh admixture and PET fiber.
This study was carried out for the purpose of comparing in reference to sand drain in the next three different cases. First, The case of drain material (sand pile) has some rigidity during embankment and consolidation. Second, In usual case of no rigidity as a paper drain without permeability during embankment and consolidation Third, Check up clay behavior when above the two cases carried out respectively. This FEM analysis is consisted with Biot's consolidation equation when it is used for Christian Boehmer's numerical technique. The main results are obtained from above the Analysis When sand drain has some rigidity, the lateral and vertical deformation of clay foundation is restrained considerable amount and .exhibited bearing capacity of load as a pile According to the foundation in drained condition and untrained condition, the results are much variable in this analysis method. Also, The behaviors of stress path and pore water pressure met our expectation during , consolidation. This analysis should be considered to put into use of sand drain and design in future.
A very high-temperature gas reactor (VHTR) is one of the next generation nuclear reactors owing to its safety, high energy efficiency, and proliferation-resistance. Heat is transferred from the primary helium loop to the secondary helium loop through an intermediate heat exchanger (IHX). Under VHTR environment Alloy 617 is being considered a candidate Ni-based superalloy for the IHX of a VHTR, owing to its good creep resistance, phase stability and corrosion resistance at high temperature. In this study, high-temperature corrosion tests were carried out at 850 - $950^{\circ}C$ in air and impure helium environments. Alloy 617 specimens showed a parabolic oxidation behavior for all temperatures and environments. The activation energy for oxidation was 154 kJ/mol in helium environment, and 261 kJ/mol in an air environment. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) results revealed that there were a Cr-rich surface oxide layer, Al-rich internal oxides and depletion of grain boundary carbide after corrosion test. The thickness and depths of degraded layers also showed a parabolic relationship with the time. A corrosion rate of $950^{\circ}C$ in impure helium was higher than that in an air environment, caused by difference in the outer oxide morphology.

Steel-Concrete composite girders have been used since early in the 1920's due to their advantages, which are lower weight, increasement of stiffness, slenderness, long span. However, in designing short to continuous composite bridges, negative moment occurs in mid-support and creates problems such as cracks in the concrete slab. Therefore, partially composite bridges are considered. In this time, slab-anchor is used in these. If the stiffness of shear connectors is insufficient, slip would happen at the contact surface. Partial interaction is the case that takes account of slips. In this paper, the evaluation of initial shear stiffness of slab-anchor in composite bridges is obtained from Push-Out specimen. Also, finite element analyses which uses the initial shear stiffness of slab-anchor got the experiment are carried out on simple composite girder and continuous composite girder. Futhermore, the ratio of composite according to various shear stiffness are investigated and the classification according to the ratio of composite is proposed.
Our ability to predict hydration behavior is becoming increasingly relevant to the concrete community as modelers begin to link material performance to the dynamics of material properties and chemistry. At early ages, the properties of concrete are changing rapidly due to chemical transformations that affect mechanical, thermal and transport responses of the composite. At later ages, the resulting, nano-, micro-, meso- and macroscopic structure generated by hydration will control the life-cycle performance of the material in the field. Ultimately, creep, shrinkage, chemical and physical durability, and all manner of mechanical response are linked to hydration. As a way to enable the modeling community to better understand hydration, a review of hydration models is presented offering insights into their mathematical origins and relationships one-to-the-other. The quest for a universal model begins in the 1920's and continues to the present, and is marked by a number of critical milestones. Unfortunately, the origins and physical interpretation of many of the most commonly used models have been lost in their overuse and the trail of citations that vaguely lead to the original manuscripts. To help restore some organization, models were sorted into four categories based primarily on their mathematical and theoretical basis: (1) mass continuity-based, (2) nucleation-based, (3) particle ensembles, and (4) complex multi-physical and simulation environments. This review provides a concise catalogue of models and in most cases enough detail to derive their mathematical form. Furthermore, classes of models are unified by linking them to their theoretical origins, thereby making their derivations and physical interpretations more transparent. Models are also used to fit experimental data so that their characteristics and ability to predict hydration calorimetry curves can be compared. A sort of evolutionary tree showing the progression of models is given along with some insights into the nature of future work yet needed to develop the next generation of cement hydration models.
In this study, the construction of a reinforced concrete bridge pier was analyzed from durability point of view. The goal of the study is to analyze the crack iniation condition due to construction and present some recommendations for construction conditions of the reinforced concrete bridge pier. The bridge is located at the western port area of Shenzhen, where the climate is high temperature and humidity. To control the cracking of concrete, a construction simulation was carried out for a heat transfer problem as well as a thermal stress problem. A shrinkage model for heat produced due to cement hydration and a Burger constitutive model to simulate the creep effect are used. The modelling based on Femmasse(C) is verified by comparing with the testing results of a real underground abutment. For the bridge pier, the temperature and stress distribution, as well as their evolution with time are shown. To simulate the construction condition, four initial concrete temperatures ($5^{\circ}C$, $10^{\circ}C$, $15^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$) and three demoulding time tips (48h, 72h, 96h) are investigated. From the results, it is concluded that a high initial concrete temperature could result in a high extreme internal temperature, which causes the early peak temperature and the larger principle stresses. The demoulding time seems to be less important for the chosen study cases. Currently used 72 hours in the construction practice may be a reasonable choice.

Recent studies were dedicated to the realization of measurements on stay-cable samples of different geometry and static conditions as available at several facilities. The elaboration of the acquired data showed a a satisfactory efficacy of the dampers made of NiTi wires in smoothing the cable oscillations. A further attempt to investigate the applicability of the achieved results beyond the specific case-studies represented by the tested cable-stayed samples is herein pursued. Comparative studies are carried out by varying the diameter of the NiTi wire so that similar measurements can be taken also from laboratory steel cables of reduced size. Details of the preparation of the Ni-Ti wires are discussed with particular attention being paid to the suppression of the creep phenomenon. The resulting shape of the hysteretic cycle differs according to the wire diameter, which affects the order of the fitting polynomial to be used when trying to retrieve the experimental results by numerical analyses. For a NiTi wire of given diameter, an estimate of the amount of dissipated energy per cycle is given at low levels of maximum strain, which correspond to a fatigue fracture life of the order of millions of cycles. The dissipative capability is affected by both the temperature and the cycling frequency at which the tests are performed. Such effects are quantified and an ageing process is proposed in order to extend the working temperature range of the damper to cold weathers typical of the winter season in Northern Europe and Canada. A procedure for the simulation of the shape memory alloy behavior in lengthy cables by finite element analysis is eventually outlined.
