The purpose of this study is to verify the mediating effect of empowerment on the relation between job characteristics and creativity. This study also examines the relationship job characteristics and creativity. As a result of this study, job characteristics had positive influence on empowerment. Empowerment had positive influence on creativity. Also job characteristics had positive effect on creativity at first, but it did not have a direct effect on creativity when empowerment was considered. These mean that empowerment is complete mediation variable because job characteristics no longer affects creativity after empowerment has been considered. Several implications, limitations and directions for future research were discussed.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the causal relationship between job characteristics and creativity. The role of transformational leadership is also examined. To identify the relationship between core team job characteristics and transformational leadership, an empirical survey was conducted through surveys of domestic distribution companies. Among the collected questionnaires, missing and insincere responses were excluded and 636 individuals of 107 teams were used for the SPSS 18 analysis. It was found that job meaningfulness was positively related to team creativity and transformational leadership also had a significant effect. Task feedback was shown to be an important factor on the motivation to perform tasks successfully. In the case of transformational leadership, this leadership style helped individuals overcome fear by providing support, sympathy, and consideration to create novel ideas. But, its effects were different on team creativity when it interacted with core job characteristics. Departments where creativity is highly emphasized within an organization are able to design job characteristics which fit the task at hand. Moreover, transformational leadership brings about different effects on team creativity when it interacts with job characteristics. The findings of this study suggest that organizations should consider characteristics of tasks and individuals as well when conducting education and training.
There have been various educational approaches to foster students' creativity in engineering colleges, but little has been conducted based on empirical study results of students' perception on creativity education. This study aims to explore the students' perception on creativity in engineering such as characteristics of creative engineers, the level of individual or group creativity and creative education in engineering colleges. According to the survey results of 538 respondents, engineering students considered three factors such as 'innovative driven', 'eager for high intellectuality', 'activity expression' as characteristics of creative engineer. They evaluated both of individual or group creativity levels as subnormal. They perceived the importance of creativity education, but were not satisfied with current creativity educational experiences. They pointed out 'limited supports of nation or organization', 'credit system decided by the paper-based exam', 'non-systematized creativity classes' as impending factors for creativity in engineering education. Students suggested 'securing the budget for practice and field participation', 'changing of perception on creativity education itself', 'developing the creativity classes combined with engineering subjects' as fostering factors in creativity education. This studdy suggests several implications of educational approaches to creativity education in engineering colleges.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the creativity and problem-solving of EMT students in Gwangju Metropolitan City. Data was collected by self-reported questionnaire from 106 EMT students from December 1, to December 20, 2008, Data collected were analyzed by technical statistics and correlation analysis using $SPSS/PC^+$ 12.0 program, The results were as follows : 1. The subjects were 49 males (46%) and 57 females (54%). 2. According to gender characteristics and creativity of the subjects, there were not significant differences(t = 1.02, p = .312). To gender characteristics and problem-solving of the subjects, male were higher grade more than female and there were significant differences(t = 2.04, p = .044). 3. According to age characteristics and creativity of the subjects, there were not significant differences(F = 8.73, p = .421). To age characteristics and problem-solving of the subjects, there were not significant differences(F = 2.314, p = .104). 4. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of father's characteristics on the creativity of gifted preschoolers and nongifted preschoolers. Father's personality, creative personality and parenting self-efficacy were included in father's characteristics. The study subjects were 96 gifted and 180 non-gifted preschoolers and their fathers. Instruments were the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking(Torrance, 1984: Kim et al., 2002), Revised NEO-Personality Inventory(Costa & MaCrae, 1992), What Kind of Person Are You Scale of the Khatena-Torrance Creative Perception Inventory(Khatena & Torrance, 1976: Kim et al., 2004), and Parenting Efficacy Scale(Choe et al., 2001). The results showed that extroversion, healthy ability and disciplined ability of the gifted preschoolers' fathers influenced the children's fluency of creativity, while the disciplined imagination of gifted preschoolers' fathers influenced children's elaborateness of creativity. Regarding non-gifted children, the intimacy of the non-gifted preschoolers' fathers influenced the children's fluency of creativity, the general parenting ability of non-gifted preschoolers' fathers influenced children's abstractness of titles of creativity, the general parenting ability of non-gifted preschoolers' fathers the influenced children's elaborateness of creativity, and general parenting ability and learning guidance ability of non-gifted preschoolers' fathers influenced the children's resistance to premature closure of creativity.
Building on previous literature of human resource management and development, this paper investigates the effect of various characteristics of informal education a firm offers on employees' individual creativity. we identify quantity, quality, and variety as three critical components of informal educational and training circumstances. Data from a multi-informant survey conducted to 442 employees in Korean postal service show that a firm's informal educational training has significant effects on its employee creativity. The results indicate that enough high quality of program, various training method have a positive relationship with his/her individual creativity although time and opportunity don't have an critical impact on employee creativity. This study highlights the importance of a firm's informal education in terms of motivation and skills, and helps to explain individual discrepancies in creativity.
This study examines three factors - personal, academic features and governmental research environment - that influences the research of creative scientists based on a Systems Model of Creativity and tries to deprive policy implications. First, this study investigates the characteristics of creative scientists' research through a literature review. Next, it analyzes the features of academic characteristics, and creative research environments by the interviews of nine creative scientists in Korea. Lastly, it draws its implications and analyzes the limitations of this research.
The purpose of this study is to explore the applicability of the causal maps for estimating creativity. This study assumes that fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration are elements of creativity; and there are common characteristics between systems and creative thinking. For this study, 30 students from the 5th grade create causal maps which are consisted of the contents of 'the water cycle in the earth'. The causal maps are analyzed and evaluated by focusing on the characteristics of creativity. In way of the marking causal maps based on creativity, each word is scored as 1 point on the basis of 30 points for fluency. Each word which is linked more than one word is scored 3 points for flexibility, but the maximum points are limited as 35 points. In originality, if it is approved each word is worthy as well as originality, it is scored as 10 points on the basis of 40 points. Lastly, each number of cycle loops is scored as 15 points for elaboration, and the maximum scores are limited as 45 points. As is stated above, the limiting of the maximum scores are designed based on corresponded to 10% students of participators. In the result of this study, the students' scores of evaluating creativity applied causal maps show similar patterns from relative point of view to the other results which were evaluated the creativity by credible organ. Consequently, it is recognized that the causal maps have the possibility of being able to estimate quantitatively the creativity.
In this increasingly technological world, the creativity development has been highlighted much in many countries. In this paper, two mathematical activities with Chinese characteristics are presented to illustrate how to integrate algorithmic teaching into mathematical activities to develop students' creativity. Case studies show that the learning of algorithm can be transferred into creative learning when students construct their own algorithms in Logo environment rather than being indoctrinated the existing algorithms. Creativity development in different stages of mathematical activities and creativity development in programming are also discussed.
Maternal personality, creative personality, and parenting self-efficacy were included in mothers' characteristics. Participants were 89 gifted and 147 non-gifted preschool children and their mothers. Instruments were the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking(Torrance, 1984; 김영채, 2002), Revised NEO-Personality Inventory(Costa & MaCrae, 1992), What Kind of Person Are You Scale of the Khatena-Torrance Creative Perception Inventory(Khatena & Torrance, 1976; 김영채, 2004), and Parenting Self-Efficacy Scale(최형성 & 정옥분, 2001). Results showed Disciplined Imagination of gifted preschoolers' mothers influenced children's Abstractness of Creativity, General Parenting Ability influenced Originality of Creativity, and Learning Guidance Ability influenced Abstractness of Titles of Creativity. Regarding non-gifted children, the Neuroticism, Acceptance of Authority and General Parenting Ability of mothers selectively influenced children's Abstractness and Elaborativeness of Creativity.
