Cognitive Components Definition of Creative Problem-Solving Ability in Informatics Education (정보 교육에서 요구되는 창의적 문제해결능력의 인지적 요소 정의)

  • It is important to improve the creative problem- solving ability through subject matter education. Especially, Informatics education is important to improve the problem-solving ability by using computer as well as the general problem-solving ability. This paper identifies the creative problem- solving ability which is required in Informatics education. The cognitive components of the creative problem-solving ability are organized as the result of crossing the problem-solving ability and the creativity. This paper investigated the validity of the contents as judged by a panel of experts. The cognitive components of creativity are the elaboration, sensitivity, and reorganization in the step of 'Understanding and Analysis the Problem'. Also, The cognitive components of creativity are the fluency, flexibility, and originality in the step of the 'Exploring the Problem Solutions'. The cognitive components of creativity are elaboration in the step of the 'Design the Problem Solution' and 'Implementation'. Finally, the cognitive components of creativity are the flexibility and elaboration in the step of the 'Evaluation'.

The Effect of Scientific Discussion Classes Focusing Problem Finding on the Primary School Students' Scientific Creative Problem Solving Ability and Science Process Skills (문제발견 중심의 과학토론수업이 초등학생들의 과학 창의적 문제해결력과 과학탐구능력에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of scientific discussion classes focusing problem finding on the primary school students' scientific creative problem solving ability, science process skills and attitude toward science class. To verify this research problem, the subject of this study was fifth-grade students selected from four classes of M elementary school located in Busan city. For four months, the experimental group of 51 students was taught using the "scientific discussion classes focusing problem finding". The control group also of 53 students was taught in normal classes which used a text-book. All students were given pre and post test to verify the effects of scientific discussion classes focusing problem finding on the primary school students' scientific creative problem solving ability, science process skills and attitude toward science class. The results from this study are as the following. First, the scientific discussion classes focusing problem finding were effective in scientific creative problem solving ability among the primary school students. It is possibly because in the process where one student compare his/her own thoughts with the others' ones and discuss them. Second, the scientific discussion classes focusing problem finding were effective in science process skills among the primary school students. Third, the scientific discussion classes focusing problem finding were effective in attitude toward science class. In conclusion, the scientific discussion classes focusing problem finding had positive effects on improvement of primary school students' scientific creative problem solving ability, science process skills and also could lead to a change in students' cognition about science class to a positive way. Therefore, the scientific discussion class focusing problem finding is hopefully to be provided as an effective instructive strategy of science class in school in the future.

Effects of Capstone Design Program on Creative Leadership, Problem Solving Ability and Critical Thinking (캡스톤디자인 프로그램이 간호학생의 창의적리더십, 문제해결능력, 비판적사고 성향에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of Capstone Design Program on creative leadership, problem solving ability and critical thinking of nursing students. The subjects of 18 experiment groups taking course in nursing capstone design of U university in P city and 20 control group of K university in G city. Data were collected before and after nursing capstone design class using self-reported questionnaire. Students Creative leadership and problem solving ability showed significant showed improvements after the Capstone Design Program. Creative leadership, Problem solving ability and critical thinking was positively correlated and then Problem solving abilities appeared to be higher improved critical thinking. Therefore, it is recommended that sufficient repetitive practice is to be made in order to improve Creative Leadership, Problem solving ability and critical thinking.

Dual mediating effect of aesthetic ability and self-worth between creative personality and creativity of Chinese college students (중국 대학생의 창의적 성격과 창의성의 관계에서 심미적 능력과 자아가치의 이중매개효과)

  • This study aims to determine whether aesthetic ability and self-worth dually mediate in the relationship between creative personality and creativity among Chinese design college students. Data were collected through a survey targeting 500 college students purposively sampled from a design major university in Guangdong, China. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS PC+ Win ver. 25.0 and SPSS PROCESS macro ver. 4.2. The statistical methods applied were frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and dual mediation effect analysis. The conclusion of the study is as follows. First, creative personality, aesthetic ability, self-worth, and creativity all showed significant positive correlations. Second, college students' aesthetic ability and self-worth double-mediated in the relationship between creative personality and creativity. Based on these results, this study proposed a plan to utilize not only creative personality but also aesthetic ability and self-worth to enhance the creativity of college students.

The Effects of Creative Product Performance on the Scientific Attitude, Scientific Self Efficacy and Creative Problem Solving Ability of Science-Gifted Elementary Student (창의 산출물 활동이 초등 과학영재반 학생들의 과학적 태도, 과학 자기효능감, 창의적 문제해결력에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of creative product performance on scientific attitude, scientific self efficacy and creative problem solving ability of science-gifted elementary students. The subjects of the study were 20 students who were enrolled in science-gifted class of G elementary school. 8 period lessons of the creative product performance were given to the students after simulated creative product performance lessons. Pre and post tests were done before and after executing lessons to assess the change of students' scientific attitude, scientific self efficacy and creative problem solving ability. The findings and results of this study can be summarized as follows: First, creative product performance had meaningful effect in improving scientific attitude of science-gifted students. Second, creative product performance had meaningful effect in improving scientific self efficacy of science-gifted students. Third, creative product performance had meaningful effect in improving creative problem solving ability of science-gifted students. From questionnaire interview, we could know that subject students had difficulties in carrying out the performance at first but after the performance they came to have favorable impression and high satisfaction level about the performance.

  • We studied the perceived creative ability, convergent thinking and creative leadership related to converged capabilities among students who participated in the capstone design and graduation works and those who did not participate. In creative ability, students who participated capstone design and graduation works need more curriculum and non-curriculum activities for the idea generation through the understanding of various majors, but overall, they achieved higher positive results than the nonparticipating students. For creative leadership and convergent thinking, students with capstone design and graduation works showed a more positive capabilities, while students with nonparticipating students showed a slightly lack of creative thinking of higher order thinking, the logical analysis of complex phenomena, and overall understanding.

Analysis of the Effectiveness of Liberal SW Education focused on Developing Computational Thinking and Creative Problem Solving Ability (컴퓨팅사고력, 창의적 문제해결력 신장을 위한 대학 교양 SW 기초 교육의 효과 분석)

  • In liberal SW education, nurturing student with creative problem-solving ability based on SW is considered important. The purpose of this study is to design SW education and to investigate the effects on students' computational thinking and creative problem solving abilities. This study designed classes in accordance with convergent project and the CT-CPS model and 38 undergraduate students have participated this study. The questionnaire survey was given to students and analyzed the effectiveness of class. The results of this study were as follows: Fitst, SW education significantly improved computational thinking and creative problem solving ability. Second, computational thinking improve significantly in high and low initial score group and creative problem solving improve significantly in low initial score group. However, creative problem solving ability did not improve significantly in high initial score group. Third, computational thinking improve significantly in all majors and creative problem solving improve significantly in college of natural science. However, creative problem solving ability did not improve significantly in college of humanities and social science. In examining the effects on students' computational thinking and creative problem-solving abilities and verify differences by pre-test and major, this study provides significance in expanding the understanding about the nature liberal SW education.

Integrated Program Development for Creativity and Emotion of Elementary Lower Grade Students (초등 저학년 학생의 창의·정서 함양을 위한 통합 프로그램 개발)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an integrated program to improve the creative and emotional ability of lower grade students. This program aimed to cultivate creative thinking and creative personality for problem solving, and to learn how to interact positively with others by developing emotional expression and control. Creative thinking ability includes fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration, imagination, and sensitivity. Creative personality includes curiosity, sensitivity, adventure, humor, independence, task commitment, and problem solving leadership. We selected 6 creative thinking skills such as mind-map and brainstorming. Emotional factors consist of self /other understanding, control of emotional effect, self-expression emotionally, and respect for others for cooperation. The integrated program consisted of 12 themes, and the class time was set to 40 minutes, which is the same as the elementary curriculum. The program was conducted by a teacher with 10 years' experience.

The Effects of Coding Education on Creative Problem Solving of Academic High School Students in Creative Experience Activities (창의적 체험 활동에서의 코딩교육이 일반계 고등학생의 창의적 문제해결력에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of coded education on creative problem solving ability on academic high school students. The subjects of the study were 24 students (14 male, 10 female) in the 1st to 3rd grade students voluntarily desiring coding education at the 'J' high school in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do. For the experimental group, the intervention program was conducted 10 times a month for 5 months. In the intervention program, pre and post test were conducted to investigate the effects of creative problem solving ability by using the scratch program. The results of the study are as follows. First, after examining the creative problem solving ability of the experimental group after the coding training, it was statistically significant as the average score increased. Second, coding education was suitable for achieving the sub-goal of the creative experience activity of' increasing the ability to reasonably and creatively solve everyday problems'. In particular, it was found that it is effective in improving self-confidence and independence.

The Relationship Between Cooperative Learning Competency and Personality in University Students: The Mediating Effects of Creativity (대학생의 협동학습역량이 인성에 미치는 영향: 창의성의 매개효과)

  • This study intended to identify the relationship between cooperative learning competency and personality, and to evaluate how creativity mediate this relationship. Participants were 123 university students in Busan, the collected data was analyzed using Model 6 of SPSS PROCESS Macro. The results indicated as follows. First, cooperative learning competency, creative ability, creative disposition, and personality all showed a significant positive correlation. Second, it was found that cooperative learning competency had a significant effect on personality. Third, the mediating effect of creative ability wasn't found to be significant in the relationship between cooperative learning competency and personality. Fourth, the mediating effect of creative disposition was found to be significant in the relationship between cooperative learning competency and personality. Fifth, in the relationship between cooperative learning competency and personality, the sequential mediating effect of creative ability and creative disposition was confirmed.
