The purpose of this study was to test a structural model about family income as causally related to family hardiness, pile-up stress, communication, and family adaptation in families of children with disabilities. 250 families of children with disabilities participated as subjects. The models were developed on the basis of confirmatory factor analysis and compared using covariance structure modeling(LISREL). Adequate fitness of the model was observed. Family income showed negative effect on pile-up stress and positive effect on family adaptation. Pile-up stress showed negative effect on family hardiness. Family hardiness showed positive effect on family communication, and family communication showed positive effect on family adaptation.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to construct a structural equation model that would further explain the mental health status of Korean immigrants living in Canada. Methods: Survey using a structured questionnaire was conducted with 386 people in Canada (Vancouver and Toronto). Six instruments were used in this model. The analysis of data was done with both SPSS 14.0 for descriptive statistics and AMOS 5.0 for covariance structure analysis. Results: Based on the constructed model, physical health status, immigrant life stress, self esteem, and quality of life were found to have significant direct effect on mental health. In addition, factors such as physical health status, immigrant life stress, quality of life, English proficiency, family cohesion and social support were found to indirectly affect mental health. The final modified model yielded Chi-square=34.79 (p<.001), df=13, $x^2$/df=2.68, GFI=0.98, AGFI=0.94, NFI=0.95, PNFI=0.44, PGFI=0.35, RMSE=0.07 and exhibited good fit indices. Conclusion: This structural equation model is a comprehensive theoretical model that explains the related factors and their relationship with mental health in Korean immigrants. Findings of this study can contribute to the designing of an appropriate prevention strategy to further improve the mental health of immigrants in Canada.
The purpose of this study was to verify a Structural Equation Model that constructed the causations among the structural leisure constraints, interpersonal leisure constraints, intrapersonal leisure constraints, leisure motivation, leisure activity participation, leisure satisfaction and the quality of life from the ecological perspective. The respondents were 301 elderly people residing in 4 free institutionalized elderly homes in Seoul. The data were analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis and covariance structure analysis using USREL 8.0 ver. The major results are summarized as follows: 1) Statistically, a goodness of fit is good of structural equation model presented in the study. 2) The structural leisure constraints and the interpersonal leisure constraints are some types of leisure environment of the aged in public homes from the ecological perspective. Such constraints would inevitably lead to a direct effect on individual leisure life and leisure motivation. 3) The important valuable factor which affected the leisure satisfaction and the quality of life in the elderly was the leisure motivation.
The purpose of this study was to assess the causal relationships among belief, subjective norm, moral feeling, attitude, and the intention to consume organic beef. A total of 326 questionnaires were completed by adult in Jeonnam area. Structural equation modeling was used to measure the causal relationships among the constructs. The structural analysis results indicated an excellent model-data fit. The covariance effects of belief and subjective norm, and belief and moral feeling were statistically significant. The effects of belief and moral feeling on attitude and intention to consume were also statistically significant. As expected, attitude had significant effects on intention to consume. Moreover, attitude played a mediating roles in the relationship between belief and intention to consume. Finally, based on structural analysis, a model was proposed for the interrelations among belief, subjective norm and moral feeling towards organic food, attitude and intention to consume. It should be noted that the original organic food consumption model was modified, and should preferably be validated by future research. Other constructs, such as perceived behavior control and consumption, may be incorporated to form models that consist of new antecedent and consequence pairs.
Purpose: This study was designed to construct a structural model to explain the quality of life of grandmothers caring for their grandchildren. Method: Data were collected by self-report questionnaires from 232 grandmothers caring for their grandchildren living in Busan. The data collection period was from June to Oct. 2006. Data analysis was done with SAS 9.13 for descriptive statistics and PC-LISREL 8.52 program for Covariance Structural analysis. Results: The findings found that the fit of the hypothetical model to the data was good, but considering theoretical implications and statistical significances of parameter estimates, paths and variables of the model were modified by excluding 2 paths. The Modified Model with 17 paths showed a good fitness to the empirical data ($X^2=15.492$ (df=11, p=.161), GFI=.985 AGFI=.940 NFI=.982 RMSR=.037 RMSEA=.042). Health status, health problems, economical status, life events, caring stress, caring efficacy and life satisfaction had significant effects on quality of life in the grandmother caring their grandchildren, but of these variables, self-esteem was the most essential factor. All predictive variables of quality of life together explained 63.9% of the variance. Conclusion: The derived model in this study was confirmed to be proper in explaining and predicting the quality of life of the grandmothers caring their grandchildren.
Purpose: This study was designed to construct a structural model for explaining negative outcomes of anger in female adolescents. Methods: Data was collected by questionnaires from 199 female adolescents ina female high school in Seoul. Data analysis was done with SAS for descriptive statistics and a PC-LISREL Program for Covariance structural analysis. Results: The fit of the hypothetical model to the data was moderate, thus it was modified by excluding 7 paths and adding free parameters to it. The modified model withthe paths showed a good fit to the empirical data($x^2$ =5.62, p=.69, GFl=.99, AGFl=.97, NFI=.99, NNFI=l.01, RMSR=.02, RMSEA=.00). Trait anger, state anger, and psychosocial problems were found to have a significant direct effect on psychosomatic symptoms. State anger, psychosocial problems, and learning behaviorswere found to have direct effects on depression of female adolescents. Conclusion: The derived modelis considered appropriate for explaining and predicting negative outcomes of anger in female adolescents. Therefore, it can effectively be used as a reference model for further studies and is a suggested direction in nursing practice.

Purpose: This research aims to provide empirical evidence on the impact of digital literacy on behavioural intention regarding using technology for distribution of higher education. Design, Methodology, and Approach: Quantitative analysis was carried out using Covariance-Based Structural Equation Model with data collected from 901 students who fully experienced 2-year study online at different universities in Vietnam. The structural model was built with digital literacy as the primary indicator and other variables were included based on modified version of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) by adopting performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, habit, and hedonic motivation variables specifically for education sector. Self-efficacy was added to eliminate possible bias in technology acceptance. Results: From the results of model estimation, digital literacy presented positive impact on the online distribution of higher education in Vietnam. The mediating effects of various indicators such as performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, habit, hedonic motivation, and self-efficacy are significantly determined by research model. Conclusion: The higher level of digital literacy of the students, the more likely that they will use technology in higher education study, especially online learning. Additionally, the mediating effects of indicators from the UTAUT2 theoretical model were also evident to be positively significant.

In this study, a real-time damage detection method using output-only acceleration signals and artificial neural networks (ANN) is developed to monitor the occurrence of damage and the location of damage in structures. A theoretical approach of an ANN algorithm that uses acceleration signals to detect changes in structural parameters in real-time is newly designed. Cross-covariance functions of two acceleration responses measured before and after damage at two different sensor locations are selected as the features representing the structural conditions. By means of the acceleration features, multiple neural networks are trained for a series of potential loading patterns and damage scenarios of the target structure for which its actual loading history and structural conditions are unknown. The feasibility of the proposed method is evaluated using a numerical beam model under the effect of model uncertainty due to the variability of impulse excitation patterns used for training neural networks. The practicality of the method is also evaluated from laboratory-model tests on free-free beams for which acceleration responses were measured for several damage cases.
The purpose of this study was to determine the relationships among the health concern, health practice and health status of Koreans. This study utilized the data from Korean National Health Survey (KNHS) in 1992. The data consisted of random sample of 2,799 individuals (1,304 male and 1,495 females) whose ages were between 20 and 59. The data were analyzed using SAS version 6.04 and LISREL version 7.13. The analytic methods for the study were chi-square analysis and covariance structural analysis. The results of the study were as follows. (1) There were significant positive relationships between health concern level and health practice index, and between health practice index and self-perceived health status. (2) There were negative relationships between practice index and chronic illness, and between health practice index and acute illness only in female. (3) Based on the findings, the structural model of the health concern, health practice, health status and socioeconomic variables was established and then the covariance structural analysis was used. The higher educational level and economic status were, the higher the health concern was. And urban residents were much more concerned with their health than rural residents. The more persons were concerned with health, the more they did health practices. And the more the health practice was, the higher the health status was. The younger the persons were and the higher the health status of one's family was, the higher the health status was. In female, the higher the economic status was, the higher the health status was.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the conceptional structure of residents' perception among tourism development impacts (economic benefits, social and environmental impact), community attachment and attitudes towards the effects of Baekdudaegan tourism development. This paper was adopted LISREL (linear structural relationships) approach, covariance structural equation model, to provided some insights on tourism development. Data of 356 were collected from Youngu and Mungyeong cities surrounding Baekdudaegan in Gyeongsangbuk-do. The results indicate that perceived economic benefits are rather greater impacts on attitudes than perceived social and environmental ones directly and indirectly. Also, perceived social impacts influence community attachment, however, perceived economic benefits and environmental impacts do not influence community attachment directly. Finally results reveal that the attitudes for supporting tourism development were found positively influenced by the identity of community attachment. Differently social exchange theory, the results suggested that residents' attitudes towards Baekdudaegan tourism development perceived positive strongly even a non related tourism resident.
