Design of a Prototype Fibre Optic Based Monitoring and Control System for Future KEPCO's 765kV Substation (765kV 변전소 감시제어용 시범시스템)

  • Instead of point-to-point hard wiring between substation yard equipments and SCADA RTU(Remote Terminal Unit), fibre optic cable will be used in the portion between Local Units and Central Unit in the future KEPCO 765kV substation. The connections between substation yard equipments and nearby Local Unit remain the same hard wiring. The new fibre optic system will provide security especially during ground faults and is immune to electrical noise. A prototype system will be manufactured and installed in the existing 154kV Yeosan Substation by the end of July this year and operated for one year. By incorporating the operation experiences acquired in the system, an improved system will be commercially applied to 765kV Shin-An-Seong Substation where 345kV GIS will be installed initially and act as the switching station in the year 1998. The system is composed of one Central Unit and several Local Units. The Central Unit is composed of two workstation level computers, one is in operation and the other backup, and a Communication Control Unit. The Local Unit uses the existing SCADA RTU technology and takes the form of a distributed one. Between the Communication Control Unit and Local Units, the fibre optic system with star-coupler is used.

The Study on Highly Miniaturized Active 90°C Phase Difference Power Divider and Combiner for Application to Wireless Communication (무선 통신 시스템 응용을 위한 초소형화된 능동형 90°C 위상차 전력 분배기와 결합기에 관한 연구)

  • This paper propose highly miniaturized active $90^{\circ}C$ phase difference power divider and combiner for application to wireless communication system. The conventional passive $90^{\circ}C$ power divider and combiner cannot be integrated on MMIC because of their very large circuit size. Therefore, the highly miniaturized active $90^{\circ}C$ phase difference power divider and combiner are required for a development of highly integrated MMIC. In this paper, the highly miniaturized active $90^{\circ}C$ phase difference power divider and combiner employing InGaAs/GaAs HBT were designed, fabricated on GaAs substrate. According to the results, the circuit size of fabricated active $90^{\circ}C$ phase difference power divider and combiner were $1.67{\times}0.87$ mm and $2.42{\times}1.05$ mm, respectively, which were 31.6% and 2.2% of the size of conventional passive branch-line coupler. The output gain division characteristic of proposed divider circuit showed 8.4 dB and 7.9 dB respectively, and output phase difference characteristic showed $-89.3^{\circ}C$. The output gain coupling characteristic of proposed combiner circuit showed 9.4 dB and 10.5 dB respectively, and output phase difference characteristic showed $-92.6^{\circ}C$. The highly miniaturized active $90^{\circ}C$ phase difference power divider and combiner exhibited good RF performances compared with the conventional passive branch-line coupler.

  • The weather FAX machine is the one of necessary of safety navigation for ship. which is the machine which make the weather image by the receiving radio signal which is modulated using FSK method and transmitted on air by coast station. after Coast station scan the weather image and broadcast the image with black dot to 1500Hz and white dot to 2300Hz using FSK modulation. This paper implement weather fax machine using only general IBM-PC by software. By using IBM-PC we can make some good functions like print, edit, save etc. The modulated signal from SSB go into RS232C port via photo coupler not to give damage to PC. by using Timer Interrupt and RS232C serial interrupt, we can measure signal frequency and remake weather image. This paper use only IBM-PC with general SSB receiver which is widely spread on the ship. so this is very economic and possible to implement mutifunctions.

An Analysis of Characteristics of Underground Power line Communication Channel (지중 전력선 통신채널의 특성 해석)

  • In this paper, to develop a broadband power line communication modem and network technologies, we analysis the characteristics of underground power line communication channel through actual tests. To measure the amount of attenuation by length and structure of broadband power line communication channel, we configure a measurement system of the channel with signal generator, spectrum analyzer and non-contacted coupler. For actual tests, we choose two of the longest lines among medium-voltage lines as a single line in the test lines and measure the characteristics of noise and signal attenuation level of the channel. The experimental results show that the channel has a impulse noise which can remarkably reduce communication capability. In the case of long lines, high-frequency attenuation appeared by length of the lines.

  • An antenna arrays for a satellite navigation systems require more antenna elements to mitigate multiple jamming signals. In order to maintain the small array size while increasing the number of antenna elements, miniaturization technique is essential for antenna design. In this work, an electrically small circular microstrip patch antenna with a 3 dB hybrid coupler is designed as an element antenna, where the 3 dB hybrid coupler can yield the circularly polarized radiation characteristic. The miniaturized element antenna typically has too large capacitance in GPS L1 and GLONASS G1 bands, making it difficult to match with a single stand-alone non-Foster matching circuit (NFMC) in a stable state. Therefore, we propose a new matching technique, referred to as the hybrid matching method, which consists of a NFMC and a passive circuit. This passive tuning circuit manages reactance of antenna elements at an appropriate capacitance without a pole in the operating frequency range. The antenna array is fabricated, and the measured results show a reflection coefficient of less than -10 dB and an isolation of greater than 50 dB. In addition, peak gain of the proposed antenna is increased by 22.3 dB compared to the antenna without the hybrid matching network.

  • On curved rail, the speed of train must be reduced in order to keep riding comfort. So, the train has the speed limitation in conventional railway line. But if the train has the tilting mechanism, the speed of train is able to be increased while maintaining the riding comfort. Generally, the tilting train is faster than the non-tilting train about 30% in curve. The tilting train technology and reduction of travel time has been carefully investigated by KRRI (Korea Railroad Research Institute). Based on the primary research result from KRRI, tilting control system and tilting operation interlace are considered its core technology to apply tilting train to Korean conventional railway. In this paper application of non-tilting pantograph to tilting system will be introduced. New type of bogie frame and system modification of vehicle are invented to apply non-tilting pantograph to tilting train.

  • On-line partial discharge(PD) diagnostic system is the most prominent systems to diagnose insulation condition for the high voltage rotating machines. Partial discharge measuring system(PDMS) series with ceramic coupler(PD detecting sensor) installed hydro generator and high voltage motor have been measured the PD data for many years. The trend of PD magnitude in the on-line PD system increased for some machines. These machines showed a same result in the conventional off-line PD test and PD magnitude decreased after stator winding insulation cleaning. This case study show that PDMS has been proved to be good results by comparing PD magnitude with on-line and off-line PD test and it is important to plan the maintenance project for the hydro generator stator winding because PD value was decreased after insulation cleaning.

  • Rx and Tx signal use same band in RFID. Then RFID system is not used duplexer and used coupler. RFID system have problem about Rx part to Tx leakage signal because that Rx signal port is Tx signal port's Isolation port. We proposal using phase shifter Tx leakage signal decrease than other RFID system. It is same signal Tx signal port's coupling port and isolation port signal except amplitude and phase. So if make coupling signal and isolation signal is in all same signal. We cancel Tx leakage signal used coupling port. And verification about ADS2006.

  • 본 논문에서는 전력선 통신 모뎀에 필수적으로 사용하고 있는 AC 커플러의 대기모드 상태에서의 저전력 AC 커플러 개발에 관한 것으로, 전력선 통신(PLC : Power Line Communication) 모뎀은 디지털 가전기기를 위한 지능형 홈 네트워크 구축은 물론 원격검침 등의 각종 자동화 시스템에 활발하게 적용됨에 따라 저전력 대기모드 지원의 필요성이 요구되고 있다. 이러한 요구를 충족시키기 위해서 본 논문에서는 전력선 통신 모뎀에 필수적으로 사용하고 있는 AC 커플러의 대기모드 상태에서의 저전력 AC 커플러를 위해 1차측 AC 커플러를 송신측과 수신측으로 분리하여 설계하였다. 또한 수신 커플링 회로의 경우 현재 이용되고 있는 커플링 회로의 차단주파수를 10kHz에서 전력선 모뎀의 캐리어주파수에 영향을 미치지 않는 70kHz 고역 통과필터로 설계한다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 Simulation 및 실험을 통하여 제안된 AC 커플러가 기존 전력선 통신 모뎀과 동일한 성능을 유지하면서, 대기시 소모되는 소비전력을 크게 감소시켜, 기존 전력선 모뎀에 제안된 AC 커플러로 대치할 수 있음을 실험을 통해 규명하고 입증하였다.

A Study on the Corrosion Prevention of the Integral Series Generator for Military Vehicles (군용차량용 엔진일체형 직렬 발전기 부식 방지에 관한 연구)

  • The military vehicle produces electric power through an engine-integrated serial hybrid generator that is connected to the engine and does not have a separate generator installation space. However, depending on the mechanical characteristics of the connection between the generator and the engine, iron oxide for internal rusting and lubrication grew scattered. The iron oxide is adhered to the starter to deteriorate the starting performance, and there is a problem that the noise of the leg due to wear of the gear is increased. To solve this problem, the connection spline material and the surface treatment of the engine were improved and the shape was changed to a grease sealing type to prevent the generation of iron oxide inside. As the shape of the generator connector composing the shafting system was changed, the integrity of the structure was confirmed through the torsional endurance test. In addition, through the actual vehicle load test, it was verified that no corrosion occurred during the target life span without internal corrosion. It was confirmed that the anti-scattering structure of the grease effectively suppresses the generation of iron oxide, thereby reducing the noise generated from the generator. In this paper, we propose a fundamental solution to the degradation of the starter and the noise generation by preventing the back corrosion caused by the serial hybrid generator installed between the engine and the transmission.
