Analysis of Partial Denture through Topology Optimization Design (위상최적설계를 통한 가공의치의 해석)

  • Recently, the development of new structural model in fixed partial denture system is required to be started from the conceptual design with low cost, high performance and quality. In this point, a FEM based design of partial denture is used to investigate stress distribution on the durable shape. In this paper, the structural performances of partial dentures were analyzed under three biting forces. The periodontal embedding model is introduced on behalf of the detailed supporting tissue, which is composed of dentin, cortical bone, cancellous bone and periodontal ligament. Using topology optimization, the optimal reinforcement layout of connector was obtained and the detail shape in the fixed partial denture was designed.

Design of ramp-stress accelerated life test plans for a parallel system with two independent components using masked data

  • In this paper, we have formulated optimum Accelerated Life Test (ALT) plan for a parallel system with two independent components using masked data with ramp-stress loading scheme and Type-I censoring. Consider a system of two independent and non-identical components connected in parallel. Such a system fails whenever all of its components has failed. The exact component that causes the system to fail is often unknown due to cost and time constraint. For each parallel system at test, we observe its system's failure time and a set of component that includes the component actually causing the system to fail. The stress-life relationship is modelled using inverse power law, and cumulative exposure model is assumed to model the effect of changing stress. The optimal plan consists in finding out the optimum stress rate using D-optimality criterion. The method developed has been explained using a numerical example and sensitivity analysis carried out.

  • This paper describes a new algorithm to evaluate the production cost for a generation system including energy-limited hydroelectric plants. The algorithm is based upon the analytical production costing model developed under the assumption of Gaussian probabilistic distribution of random load fluctuations and plant outages. Hydro operation and pumped storage operation have been dealt with in the previous papers using the concept of peak-shaving operation. In this paper, the hydro problem is solved by using a new version of the gradient projection method that treats the upper / lower bounds of variables saparately and uses a specified initial active constraint set. Accuracy and validity of the algorithm are demonstrated by comparing the result with that of the peak-shaving model.

  • This paper presents an efficient algorithm for loss reduction of distribution system by automatic sectionalizing switch operation in large scale distribution systems of radial type. Simulated Annealing algorithm among optimization techniques can avoid escape from local minima by accepting improvements in cost, but the use of this algorithm is also responsible for an excessive computation time requirement. To overcome this major limitation of Simulated Annealing algorithm, we may use advanced Simulated Annealing algorithm. All constaints are divided into two constraint group by using perturbation mechanism and penalty factor, so all trail solutions are feasible. The polynomial-time cooling schedule is used which is based on the statistics calculation during the search. This approaches results in saving CPU time. Numerical examples demonstrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed methodology.

  • The power of controlled generators in microgrids randomly fluctuate because of the stochastic volatility of the outputs of photovoltaic systems and wind turbines as well as the load demands. To address and dispatch these stochastic factors for daily operations, a dynamic economic dispatch model with the goal of minimizing the generation cost is established via chance-constrained programming. A Monte Carlo simulation combined with particle swarm optimization algorithm is employed to optimize the model. The simulation results show that both the objective function and constraint condition have been tightened and that the operation costs have increased. A higher stability of the system corresponds to the higher operation costs of controlled generators. These operation costs also increase along with the confidence levels for the objective function and constraints.

  • Design sensitivity analysis of a vehicle system is an essential tool for design optimization and trade-off studies. Most optimization algorithms require the derivatives of cost and constraint function with respect to design in order to calculate the next improved design. This paper presents an efficient algorithm application for the design sensitivity analysis, using the direct differentiation method. A mounting area of suspension that welded on chassis frame is analyzed to show the validity and the efficiency of the proposed method.   • In this paper, an optimal guidance law with terminal angle constraint considering the seeker's lock-on condition, in which the target is located within the field-of-view (FOV) and detection range limits at the end of the midcourse phase, is proposed. The optimal solution is obtained by solving an optimal control problem minimizing the energy cost function weighted by a power of range-to-go subject to the terminal constraints, which can shape the guidance commands and the missile trajectories adjusting guidance gains of the weighting function. The proposed guidance law can be applied to both of the midcourse and terminal phases by setting the desired relative range and look angle to the final interception conditions. The performance of the proposed guidance law is analyzed through nonlinear simulations for various engagement conditions.

  • Software maintenance is one of the major activities of the software development life cycle. Due to the time and cost constraint it is not possible to perform exhaustive regression testing. Thus, there is a need for a technique that selects and prioritizes the effective and important test cases so that the testing effort is reduced. In an analogous study we have proposed a new variable based algorithm that works on variables using the hybrid technique. However, in the real world the programs consist of multiple modules. Hence, in this work we propose a regression testing algorithm that works on interprocedural programs. In order to validate and analyze this technique we have used various programs. The result shows that the performance and accuracy of this technique is very high.

  • This paper proposes an automated procedure for optimum seismic design of reinforced concrete (RC) frame structures. This procedure combines a smart pre-processing using a Tree Classification Method (TCM) and a nonlinear optimization technique. First, the TCM automatically creates sections database and assigns sections to structural members. Subsequently, a real valued model of Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is employed in solving the optimization problem. Numerical examples on design optimization of three low- to high-rise RC frame structures under earthquake loads are presented with and without considering strong column-weak beam (SCWB) constraint. Results demonstrate the effectiveness of the TCMin seismic design optimization of the structures.

  • DualCore 혹은 MultiCore 플랫폼의 보급에 따라 높은 시간복잡도를 갖는 응용들도 사용자의 컴퓨터나 단말에서 수행되어 다양한 서비스를 제공할 수 있게 되었다. 본 논문에서는 관광 스케줄을 효율적으로 결정하기 위한 다중목적지 방문 문제에 대해 이중 쓰레드에 기반한 서치 스페이스 탐색 알고리즘을 구현한다. 이는 Traveling Salesman Problem의 한 종류로서 O(n!) 시간 복잡도를 갖고 있으며 검색시의 독립성때문에 각 쓰레드는 병렬적으로 최적의 스케줄을 탐색할 수 있다. 또 현재까지 발견된 최적값을 기반으로 부분 경로의 비용이 이미 최적값을 넘는 경우는 하위 탐색을 제거하여 상당한 성능의 향상을 가져온다. 2.4 GHz Intel(R) Core DuoCPU와 3 GB 메모리로 구성된 플랫폼 상에서 구현된 서비스는 11개의 목적지에 대한 방문 스케줄을 생성함에 있어서 단일 쓰레드 버전은 14.196초, 이중 쓰레드 버전은 6.411초, 제약조건을 포함한 이중 쓰레드 버전은 0.14초에 최적의 스케줄을 찾아낼 수 있다.
