영이 아닌 DC값을 가지는 Discrete Cosine Transform을 이용한 CT Reconstruction (CT Reconstruction using Discrete Cosine Transform with non-zero DC Components)

  • This paper proposes a method to reduce operation time using discrete cosine transform and to improve image quality by the DC gain correction. Conventional filtered back projection (FBP) filtering in the frequency domain using Fourier transform, but the filtering process uses complex number operations. To simplify the filtering process, we propose a filtering process using discrete cosine transform. In addition, the image quality of reconstructed images are improved by correcting DC gain of sinograms. To correct the DC gain, we propose to find an optimum DC weight is defined as the ratio of sinogram DC and optimum DC. Experimental results show that the proposed method gets better performance than the conventional method for phantom and clinical CT images.

  • Utilizing a cosine transform in image compression has several recognized performance benefits, resulting in the ability to attain large compression ratio with small quality loss. Also, various models incorporating Human Visual System (HVS) to Discrete Cosine Trans-form (DCT) scheme are considered. Using the exact frequency components of DCT basis function, the optimum modulation transfer function (MTF) is obtained analytically. The errors at a block boundary which is important factor in transform coder are criteria for error measurement. The HVS weight coding results in perceptually higher quality images compared with the unweighted scheme.

  • A Study of Image Compression Algorithm using DCT This paper describes the system that implement a JPEG(Joint Photographic Experts Group) algorithm based on DCT(Discrete Cosine Transform) uslng CCD kameva, Image Grabber, and IBM PC. After cosine transforms the acquisited image, this algorithm quantize and entropy encode the coefficients by JPEG code table. The coefficients are reconstructed by the Huffman decoding, dequantized procedure, and Inverse cosine transform. The results obtained from the impleulented system are as follows. (1) For effcient storage and easy implementation, this system save Image as a PCX formal (2) Thls system get 7:1 compression ratio(3.8 RMSE value) without large distortion. (3) With a low pass filtering, thls system eliminate high frequency components and get 20% enhanced compression ratio. (4) Thls system enhance the reconstructed Image using histogram modeling.

  • MPEG-2 AAC(Advanced Audio Coding) is the most advanced coding scheme available for high quality audio coding. This MPEG-2 AAC audio Standard allows for ITU-R ‘indistinguishable’ quality according to at data rates of 320 kb/s for five full-bandwidth channel audio signals. The compression ratio is around a factor of 1.4 better compared to MPEG Layer 3, you get the same quality at 70% of the bitrate. This paper suggest optimization method for MDCT/IMDCT (Modified Discrete Cosine Transform/Inverse Modified Discrete Cosine Transform) in Encoder and Decoder for AAC.

  • Currently, the most important technology is compression methods in the multimedia society. In audio compression, the method using human auditory nervous property is used. This method using psychoacoustical model is applied to perceptual audio coding, because human's audibility is limited. MPEG-II AAC(Advanced Audio Coding) is the most advanced coding scheme that is of benefit to high quality audio coding. The compression ratio is 1.4 times compared with MPEG-I layer-III. In this paper, the vector processor for MDCT/IMDCT(Modified Discrete Cosine Transform /Inverse Modified Discrete Cosine Transform) of MPEG-II AAC is designed.

DCT 영역에서 영상의 임의 비율 크기 변환을 위한 새로운 알고리즘 (New Algorithm for Arbitrary-ratio Image Resizing in DCT Domain)

  • 유비쿼터스 통신 환경에서는 영상의 다양한 형태의 변환이 필수적인데, 대부분의 디지털 영상은 DCT (Discrete Cosine Transform)를 기반으로 한 JPEG, MPEG 등의 표준 기법을 이용하여 압축되어 저장되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 DCT 영역에서 영상의 크기를 변환시키는 기존의 여러 가지 알고리즘들을 고찰하고 그 성능을 분석하며, 기존의 방법보다 더 우수한 성능을 보이는 DCT 영역에서의 영상 크기 변환 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안하는 알고리즘은 DCT 영역에서 영상의 임의 크기 변환을 위해 여러 개의 $8{\times}8$ DCT 계수 블록을 변환 비율에 따라 변환식을 통하여 하나의 블록으로 변환하고 최적의 zero-padding 및 truncating을 위한 IDCT의 크기를 정하는 방법을 이용하여 영상 크기 변환의 성능을 높인다. 이것은 화소간의 상관도를 최대한 이용하여 DCT 계수를 구하고, 여기서 얻어진 DCT 계수 블록에서 원하는 비율에 따라 최적의 크기를 구함으로써 성능을 높이는 알고리즘이다. 그 성능을 원 영상과 축소하여 다시 확대시킨 영상의 PSNR 비교를 통하여 확인하였고, 제안하는 알고리즘은 특정 비율의 변환에 있어서 기존의 알고리즘을 포괄할 수 있는 방법임을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 VDL(VHF Digital Link) 모드-2에 적용되는 D8PSK 변조 방식의 비트 오율(BER)을 송 수신기간 채널 필터의 정합여부 그리고 반송파 주파수 및 위상 오프셋에 따른 영향을 분석하였다. 일반적으로 디지털 전송 방식에서는 채널 필터로 Root Raised Cosine 필터를 송신기와 수신기에 모두 적용하여 ISI 경감 효과를 얻는다. 그러나 VDL 모드-2에서는 송신기에만 Raised Cosine 필터를 사용하고 수신기에서는 저역통과필터(LPF)를 사용하기 때문에 ISI 경감 효과는 없으나 스펙트럼 특성은 더 좋아진다. 모의실험 결과 비정합 채널 필터의 사용으로 오류 확률이 약간 증가(1~2dB)함을 확인 하였고, 반송파 위상 오프셋은 비트 오율에 대해 영향이 거의 없으나, 주파수 오프셋의 영향은 심각하다는 결론을 얻었다. 그리고 협대역(Narrow Band) D8PSK 변조 신호를 디지털 방식으로 생성하고 아날로그 방식과 비교하였다.

Intersymbol interference due to sampling-time jitter and its approximations in a raised cosing filtered system

  • This paper studies the effect of intersymbol interference due to sampling-time jitter on the worst-case bit error probability in a digital modultation over an additive white Gaussian noise channel, with the squared-root raised-cosine filters in the transmitter and the receiver. It derives approximation formulas using the Taylor series approximations. the principal results of this paper is the relationship between the worst-casse bit error probability, the degree of jitter, the roll factor of the raised cosine filter, and other quantities. Numerical results show, as expected, that the intersymbol interference decreases as the roll-off factor increases and the jitter decreases. They also show that the approximation formulas are accurate for smally intersymbol interference, i.e., for large roll-noise ratio $E_{b/}$ $N_{0}$.leq.7 dB and begin to lose accuracy for larger signal-to-noise ratio.o.o.

  • When a tube is oscillated at a resonant frequency, acoustic variables such as density, velocity, and pressure undergo very large perturbation, often described as nonlinear oscillation. In order to analyze these phenomena, nonlinear governing equation has been drived and solved numerically. Numerical simulations were accomplished to study the effect of the tube shape on the maximum pressure we can obtain. The tubes of cylindrical, conical, and cosine-shape, which have same volume and length, were investigated. Results show that the resonant frequency and patterns of pressure waves strongly depend on not only the tube shape but also the amplitude of driving acceleration. The degree of non-linearity of wave patterns was also measured by the newly defined nonlinear energy ratio of the pressure signals. It was found that the 1/2 cosine-shape tube is more suitable to induce high compression ratio than other shapes.

  • A ratio of cosine values of two intersection angles in a tractor-rotary power driveline was established as a design criterion which must be satisfied in the range of vertical movement of the rotary with respect to the tractor. In addition tractor-rotary power driveline was analyzed and 25 design variables were Proposed. The intersection angles were also derived using the design variables. Using the design condition and variables, a computer program was developed to evaluate the performance of the driveline and to simulate the vertical movement of rotary. Several methods for searching the optimum design were also suggested.
