This study is intended to the effects of corporate technology innovation capabilities and activities on intra-organizational innovation resistance and performance by compensating the limit of previous studies. To achieve this, a survey was empirically carried out to 293 domestic IT and BT companies. First, technological innovation competencies had a positive effect on technological innovation resistance, adopting hypothesis 1. Second, technological innovation activities had no positive effect on technological innovation resistance, rejecting hypothesis 2. Third, technological innovation resistance had a positive effect on technological innovation performance, adopting hypothesis 3. Fourth, technological innovation resistance was positively mediated in the relationship between technological innovation competencies and technological innovation performance, adopting hypothesis 4. Fifth, technological innovation resistance was not positively mediated in the relationship between technological innovation activities and technological innovation performance, rejecting hypothesis 5. Overall, the higher technological innovation competencies had a significant effect on technological innovation resistance. Consequently, technological innovation resistance can improve or reduce technological innovation competencies and performance depending on the level of resistance.

Third, we confirmed the mediating effect of management innovation on CSR activities and financial performance. Lastly, we can confirm only the partial control effect according to the size of company in the relation of CSR activity and management innovation. It is necessary to establish systematic theories between CSR activities and financial performance through further analysis of various parameters in the future.

  • This study analyzes not only the direct impact of R&D investment on corporate growth for 578 private firms in 2007-2016, but also whether corporate innovation activities play a role as a mediating parameter between R&D investment and corporate growth. For this purpose, we classify companies into IT and non-IT companies and measure the mediating effect by dividing innovation activities into the number of registered patents, applied patents, and sum of them. In addition, this study is based on both the systemGMM which is considered to be effective in solving the endogenous problems caused by the cross-sectional analysis in previous studies and ML-SEM which is a new method recently, and then compares two results. According to the empirical results, innovation activities has a role as partly mediating parameter on sales growth in non-IT companies. On the other hands, in IT companies, the increase in R&D investment leads to a decrease in sales of the company, and the increase in innovation activities increases the sales of the company. However, it was confirmed that IT companies also had positive effects by adjusting the lag of the R&D. In other words, this suggests that securing patents is more important than R&D investment for direct sales growth of IT companies. It is also evidence that immediate introduction of technology is necessary to respond to the speed of technological change since the cycle time of technologies of the IT field is relatively shorter compared to that of other fields.

  • Globalization and knowledge-based economy have increased the importance of local areas as the units of global competition. Therefore, the meaning of localities has been emphasized as the core value of economic activities. In this context, innovation cluster has been recognised and emphasized as effective policy measure for innovation. Therefore, most countries have been trying to develop innovation clusters with their expectation for a rapid growth of economy. Nevertheless, there have been minimal empirical researches on innovation cluster. Therefore, for suggesting implications that activation factors of innovation cluster are to have an effect on tenant's business activities, this study conducted a literature review for the theories of regional innovation system(RIS) and innovation cluster. As a result, the activation factors of innovation cluster were classified into institutional, physicals, and social factor. The case of Gyeonggi province's innovation cluster policy was examined for an empirical analysis. Data were analyzed using ordered logistic regression. The results were as follows:First, Institutional and Infra factors had a positive influence on firms' business activities in every empirical test, so they were the most important activation factors of innovation cluster. Second, regarding the interactive effects of financial support, the interactive effects between financial support and Infra factor had a positive influence on the firms' business activities, according to the result of the empirical test.

  • In the previous KM (Knowledge Management) studies, it has been repeatedly pointed that CoP (Community of Practice) should be used as a platform for boosting up corporate innovative activities. Despite this, it is very rare to find relevant literature in which real-world cases are introduced showing critical success factors, implemented strategies, and objective analysis of results. In this sense, main objective of this paper is very timely- to introduce a real-world CoP case in which POSCO, world-leading steel company, sorted out creative CoP strategies to nurture knowledge-sharing activities to solve various kinds of problems at hand, and maintain appropriate level of knowledge circulation throughout all the working units of company. In a nutshell, POSCO has been successful in any measure in utilizing the creative CoP activities as strategic means to change the paradigm of innovation and extract fruitful outcomes from integrating three important individual activities such as work, learning, and innovation.
