High-performance Linpack (HPL) is among the most popular benchmarks for evaluating the capabilities of computing systems and has been used as a standard to compare the performance of computing systems since the early 1980s. In the initial system-design stage, it is critical to estimate the capabilities of a system quickly and accurately. However, the original HPL mathematical model based on a single core and single communication layer yields varying accuracy for modern processors and accelerators comprising large numbers of cores. To reduce the performance-estimation gap between the HPL model and an actual system, we propose a mathematical model for multi-communication layered HPL. The effectiveness of the proposed model is evaluated by applying it to a GPU cluster and well-known systems. The results reveal performance differences of 1.1% on a single GPU. The GPU cluster and well-known large system show 5.5% and 4.1% differences on average, respectively. Compared to the original HPL model, the proposed multi-communication layered HPL model provides performance estimates within a few seconds and a smaller error range from the processor/accelerator level to the large system level.

This study aims to propose a hypothetical urban neighborhood, HanGyo-dong, which is a model for understanding the relationship between the neighborhood change and educational facilities. Three issue layers of the model derived from preceding case studies are: establishment, relocation and redevelopment of educational facilities; formation and redevelopment of adjacent residential areas; and growth of neighborhood commercial cores. The neighborhood changes observed through HanGyo-dong include (1) the formation of educational base and commercial activities along the stream, (2) the growth of student and intellectual community and the installment of public transportation nodes, and (3) the relocation of schools and hospitals followed by a series of redevelopments of single family house into multi-family housing of low-rise residence and high rise apartment complex. The findings call for the collaborative practice of educational administration and neighborhood planning regarding how educational facilities, which were the tool for urban expansion policy, will contribute to the development of the neighborhood's identity as a localized hub.

This paper proposes a technique for detecting a significant threat that attempts to get sensitive and confidential information such as usernames, passwords, credit card information, and more to target an individual or organization. By definition, a phishing attack happens when malicious people pose as trusted entities to fraudulently obtain user data. Phishing is classified as a type of social engineering attack. For a phishing attack to happen, a victim must be convinced to open an email or a direct message [1]. The email or direct message will contain a link that the victim will be required to click on. The aim of the attack is usually to install malicious software or to freeze a system. In other instances, the attackers will threaten to reveal sensitive information obtained from the victim. Phishing attacks can have devastating effects on the victim. Sensitive and confidential information can find its way into the hands of malicious people. Another devastating effect of phishing attacks is identity theft [1]. Attackers may impersonate the victim to make unauthorized purchases. Victims also complain of loss of funds when attackers access their credit card information. The proposed method has two major subsystems: (1) Data collection: different websites have been collected as a big data corresponding to normal and phishing dataset, and (2) distributed detection system: different artificial algorithms are used: a neural network algorithm and machine learning. The Amazon cloud was used for running the cluster with different cores of machines. The experiment results of the proposed system achieved very good accuracy and detection rate as well.
As recent applications are requiring more CPUs for their performance, manycore systems have evolved. Since existing operating systems do not provide performance scalability in manycore systems, Azalea, a multi-kernel based system, has been developed for supporting performance scalability. Unikernel is a new operating system technology starting with the concept of a library OS. Applying unikernel to Azalea enables an improvement in performance. In this paper, we first analyze the current technology trends of unikernel, and then discuss the applications and effects of unikernel to Azalea. Azalea-unikernel was built in a single image consisting of libOS, runtime libraries, and an application, and executed with the desired number of cores and memory size in bare-metal. In particular, it supports source and binary compatibility such that existing linux binaries can be rebuilt and executed in Azalea-unikernel, and already built binaries can be run immediately without modification with a better performance. It not only achieves a performance enhancement, it is also a more secure OS for manycore systems.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluation the effect of translucency on CAD/CAM ceramic according to different core/veneer thicknesses. Methods: A total of 42 samples from 2 groups of 7 ceramic cores, each with 3 thickness values (0.8, 1.0, 1.2 mm) were manufactured. The veneers were also manufactured in 3 thicknesses (0.3, 0.5, 0.7 mm). The group names were based on the name of the ceramic core (IPS e.Max CAD; LD, and IPS Empress CAD; LR). The associated number was determined by the combined thickness of the core and veneer: 1 = (0.8 + 0.7); 2 = (1.0 + 0.5); 3 = (1.2 + 0.3). The translucency was measured using a spectrophotometer and defined via the contrast ratio (CR) and translucency parameter (TP). Two-way ANOVA was performed to compare the 2 groups (material and thickness). Results: As the core thickness increased, the TP value also increased, and the CR value (for LR group) decreased. The results of 2-way ANOVA demonstrated that the thicknesses of different core/veneer combinations significantly affected the translucency (p<0.05). Conclusions: The different core and veneer thicknesses affected the translucency of CAD/CAM ceramic.

There are strict evaluation processes before using new processors to satellites. Engineers evaluate processors from various viewpoints including specification, development environment, and cost. From a viewpoint of computation power, manufacturers provide benchmark results with processors, and engineers decide which processors are adequate to their satellites by comparing the benchmark results with requirements of their satellites. However, the benchmark results depends on a test environment of manufacturers, and it is quite difficult to achieve similar performance in a target environment. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the processors in the target environment. This paper compares performance of a processor, AT697F/LEON2, in software testbed (STB) with three development boards of XC2V/LEON3, GR712RC/LEON3, and GR740/LEON4. Seven benchmark functions of Dhrystone, Stanford, Coremark, Whetstone, Flops, NBench, and MiBench are selected. Results are analyzed with hardware and software properties: hardware properties of core architecture, number of cores, cache, and memory; and software properties of build options and compilers. Based on the analysis, this paper describes a guideline for choosing processors for next generation satellites.

This paper presents an implementation method of Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) Physical Downlink Shared Channel (PDSCH) decoder using a general-purpose multicore Digital Signal Processor (DSP), TMS320C6670. Although the DSP provides some useful coprocessors such as turbo decoder, fast Fourier transformer, Viterbi Coprocessor, Bit Rate Coprocessor etc., it is specific to the base station platform implementation not the mobile terminal platform implementation. This paper shows an implementation method of the LTE-A PDSCH decoder using programmable DSP cores as well as the coprocessors of Fast Fourier Transformer and turbo decoder. First, it uses the coprocessor supported by the TMS320C6670, which can be used for PDSCH implementation. Second, we propose a core programming method using DSP optimization method for block diagram of PDSCH that can not use coprocessor. Through the implementation, we have verified a real-time decoding feasibility for the LTE-A downlink physical channel using test vectors which have been generated from LTE-A Reference Measurement Channel (RMC) Waveform R.6.
Clogging of sump strainers that filter the recirculation water in containment after a loss-of-coolant accident (LOCA) seriously impedes the continued cooling of nuclear reactor cores. In experiments examining the corrosion of aluminium alloy 6061, a common material in containment equipment, in borated solutions simulating the water chemistry of sump water after a LOCA, we found that Fe-bearing intermetallic particles, which were initially buried in the Al matrix, were progressively exposed as corrosion continued. Their cathodic nature $vis-{\grave{a}}-vis$ the Al matrix provoked continuous trenching around them until they were finally released into the test solution. Such particles released from Al alloy components in a reactor containment after a LOCA will be transported to the sump entrance with the recirculation flow and trapped by the debris bed that typically forms on the strainer surface, potentially aggravating strainer clogging. These Fe-bearing intermetallic particles, many of which had a rod or thin strip-like geometry, were identified to be mainly the cubic phase ${\alpha}_c-Al(Fe,Mn)Si$ with an average size of about $2.15{\mu}m$; 11.5 g of particles with a volume of about $3.2cm^3$ would be released with the dissolution of every 1 kg 6061 aluminium alloy.

The coupling between different models for MDO (Multi-disciplinary Optimization) greatly increases the complexity of the computational framework, while at the same time increasing CPU time and memory usage. To overcome these difficulties, POD (Proper Orthogonal Decomposition) and RBF (Radial Basis Function) are used to solve the optimization problem of determining the thickness of composites and sandwich cores when composite sandwich structures are used as aircraft wing skin materials. POD and RBF are used to construct surrogate models for the wing shape and the load data. Optimization is performed using the objective function and constraint function values which are obtained from the surrogate models.

The advanced node core code CORCA-3D is one of the independent developed codes of NPIC for the nuclear reactor core design. CORCA-3D code can calculate the few-group cross section, solve the 3D diffusion equations, consider the thermal-hydraulic feedback, reconstruct the pin-by-pin power. It has lots of functions such as changing core status calculation, critical searching, control rod value calculation, coefficient calculation and so on. The main theory and functions of CORCA-3D code are introduced and validated with a lot of reactor measured data and the SCIENCE system. Now, CORCA-3D code has been applied in ACP type reactor nuclear cores design.
