Statement of problem : The various kinds of properties of post and core may affect the stress distribution to the root of endodontically treated teeth Purpose: To evaluate the influence of various kinds of properties of post and core to the stress distribution to the root of endodontically treated teeth. Material and methods: Mandibular first premolar, prepared by general shape of post and core with gold crown, was used to two dimensional axisymmetric modeling for finite element analysis. Then property values of 8 different kinds of post and core was substituted for each. Finally, stress distribution shown areas around the root of post and core was analysed after applying 50N of vortical and oblique load. Results: 1. Stress value of oblique load was much higher than the maximum stress value of vertical load. 2. Under oblique load, very concentrated stress was located on post periapical area and variations in stress were very severe. Contrary to this, stress distribution was relatively uniform in vertical load. 3. Post materials with higher elastic modulus showed relatively more apically focused stress, and post materials with lower elastic modulus showed stress focused on cervical area on the axial wall of post. 4. Stress change according to the properties of core was shown only in the cervical area of post and below core as the higher elastic modulus, then increased in stress. 5. Post and core with medium value of elastic modulus showed relatively uniform stress distribution. Conclusions: Post materials with higher elastic modulus showed relatively more apically focused stress, and post materials with lower elastic modulus showed stress focused on cervical area on the axial wall of post. Stress change according to the properties of core was shown only in the cervical area of post and below core.
Technology innovations have been accelerating changes across industries and intensifying competition. Enterprises are therefore required to continuously secure their internal and external competitiveness. Based on the principle that core competencies of a firm are essential to its competitiveness, many research studies have been conducted to figure out the effect of core competencies to business performance. However, individual research works considered a part of core competencies or limited to a specific industry, which means that their findings may differ when additional core competencies are included in their analysis. After re-establishing the definition of each core competency from literature review, this study comprehensively investigated the effect relationship among core competencies and business performance. Structural equation modeling and multiple regression analysis with 421 survey respondents from various industries were conducted for our empirical study.
Light water reactors operated under supercritical pressure conditions have been selected as one of the promising future reactor concepts to be studied by the Generation IV International Forum. Whereas the steam cycle of such reactors can be derived from modem fossil fired power plants, the reactor itself, and in particular the reactor core, still need to be developed. Different core design concepts shall be described here to outline the strategy. A first option for near future applications is a pressurized water reactor with $380^{\circ}C$ core exit temperature, having a closed primary loop and achieving 2% pts. higher net efficiency and 24% higher specific turbine power than latest pressurized water reactors. More efficiency and turbine power can be gained from core exit temperatures around $500^{\circ}C$, which require a multi step heat up process in the core with intermediate coolant mixing, achieving up to 44% net efficiency. The paper summarizes different core and assembly design approaches which have been studied recently for such High Performance Light Water Reactors.
This study estimated experimentally the loss distribution caused by magnetic friction in magnetic parts of a superconductor flywheel energy storage system (SFES) to obtain information for the design of high efficiency SFES. Through the spin down experiment using the manufactured vertical shaft type SFES with a journal type superconductor magnetic bearing (SMB), the coefficients of friction by the SMB, the stator core of permanent magnet synchronous motor/generator (PMSM/G), and the leakage flux of the metal parts were calculated. The coefficients of friction by the stator core of PMSM/G in case of using Si-steel and an amorphous core were calculated. The energy loss by magnetic friction in the stator core of PMSM/G was much larger than that in the other parts. The level of friction loss could be reduced dramatically using an amorphous core. Energy loss by the leakage magnetic field was small. On the other hand, the energy loss could be increased under other conditions according to the type of metal nearby the leakage magnetic fields. In manufactured SFES, the rotational loss by the amorphous core was approximately 2 times the loss of the superconductor and leakage. Moreover, the rotational loss by the Si-steel core is approximately 3~3.5 times the loss of superconductor and leakage.

The research was performed to develop a CANDU-6 Core Monitoring System(CCMS) that enables operators to have efficient core management by monitoring core power distribution, burnup distribution, and the other important core variables and managing the past core history for Wolsong nuclear power plant unit 1. The CCMS uses Reactor Fueling Simulation Program(RFSP, developed by AECL) for continuous core calculation by integrating the algorithm and assumptions validated and uses the information taken from Digital Control Computer(DCC) for the purpose of producing basic input data. The CCMS has two modules; CCMS server program and CCMS client program. The CCMS server program performs automatic and continuous core calculation and manages overall output controlled by DataBase Management System. The CCMS client program enables users to monitor current and past core status in the predefined GUI(Graphic-User Interface) environment. For the purpose of verifying the effectiveness of CCMS, we compared field-test data with the data used for Wolsong unit 1 operation. In the verification the mean percent differences of both cases were the same($0.008\%$), which showed that the CCMS could monitor core behaviors well.

Core list of journals, the ones that best fit the needs of library's primary clientele. The authors outlines a overview of the core journal concept, studies, emphasizing the Sci-Tech field. Several approaches for determining core journal are reviewed and the practical criteria and lists of core journals are explained in the field of Sci-Tech. Theoretical and practical problems associated with the core journal list are discussed.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the stress distribution in mandibular second premolars restored with different post and core techniques. Sixteen two-dimensional finite element model of mandibular second premolars restored with post and core and complete crown were developed according to the diameter, length, and material of post and core. Vertical force, 10N in magnitude, was applied first to the central fossa and then $45^{\circ}$ oblique force of same magnitude was applied to the buccal contact surface of buccal cusp. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Stress distribution within the dentin 1) Regardless of the material of the post and core and the diameter and length of the post, the pattern of stress distribution within the dentin was similar. 2) Maximum dentinal stress was observed on the lingual root surface of alveolar crest level with oblique loading and on lingual side of root dentin at the crown margin on vertical loading. 3) Cast post and cores produced the lowest dentinal stress concentrations and the highest stress concentration was observed in composite resin post and cores. 2. Stress distribution within the post and core 1) Within the amalgam and composite resin post and core, the patterns and maximum values of stress were similar. Maximum stress located at the central fossa of core portion on vertical loading and at the lingual junction of post and core with oblique loading. 2) Among the all post and cores, the cast post and core registered the highest stress concentration and maximum stress value within the post. Maximum stress located at the post apex on vertical loading and at lingual half of the post surface with oblique loading. 3) In case of Para-post and amalgam core, maximum stress located at the central fossa of core portion and lingual tip of the post head on vertical loading. With oblique loading, maximum stress located at the lingual half of the post surface.
Adhesive binders with core-shell structure of organic/organic pair were prepared by emulsion polymerization of acrylic monomers, such as methyl methacrylate(MMA), ethyl acrylate(EA), n-butyl acrylate(BA), and styrene(St). Ammonium persulfate (APS) was used as an water soluble initiator in the presence of an anionic surfactant, sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS). Non-woven fabric and leather were impregnated with the adhesive binder. The surface of the impregnated fabric and leather were treated with plasma technique and then kinetics analysis and mechanical properties were measured. The conversions of the polymerization of core-shell binder (MMA/EA, MMA/BA) were greater than 90%. When the core-shell binder was prepared at equimolar conditions, the increasing effect of the core-shell binder on the state peel strength of the impregnated and plasma-treated non-woven/non-woven fabric has the order of MMA/St, EA/BA, BA/MMA, EA/St, and EA/MMA. When the core-shell binder was prepared at non-equimolar conditions, the increasing effect of the core-shell binder on the state peel strength of the non-woven fabric/leather has the order of MMA/BA, BA/EA, MMA/EA, St/MMA, and EA/St.
Core-shell particles of inorganic/organic pair were synthesized from $CaCO_3$ absorbed sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS) surfactant. Shell components were synthesized by sequential emulsion polymerization. Various monomers were used as shell components such as methyl methacrylate(MMA), ethyl acrylate(EA), butyl acrylate(BA), and styrene(St). Ammonium persulfate(APS) was used as an initiator and 2-ethylhexyl acylate(2-EHA) was used as a functional monomer, In the $CaCO_3$/organic core-shell particle polymerization, $CaCO_3$ absorbed surfactant SDBS of 0.5 wt% was prepared first and then core $CaCO_3$ was encapsulated by emulsion polymerization. 0.1 wt% of APS was added sequentially to minimize the formation of new monomer particle during shell polymerization. The structure of inorganic/organic core-shell particles were characterized by measuring the decomposition degree of $CaCO_3$ using HCl solution, thermogravimetric analyzer, scanning electron microscope, and transmission electron microscope.
In a tall reinforced concrete (RC) core wall system subjected to strong ground motions, inelastic behavior near the base as well as mid-height of the wall is possible. Generally, the formation of plastic hinge in a core wall system may lead to extensive damage and significant repairing cost. A new configuration of core structures consisting of buckling restrained braced frames (BRBFs) and RC walls is an interesting idea in tall building seismic design. This concept can be used in the plan configuration of tall core wall systems. In this study, tall buildings with different configurations of combined core systems were designed and analyzed. Nonlinear time history analysis at severe earthquake level was performed and the results were compared for different configurations. The results demonstrate that using enough BRBFs can reduce the large curvature ductility demand at the base and mid-height of RC core wall systems and also can reduce the maximum inter-story drift ratio. For a better investigation of the structural behavior, the probabilistic approach can lead to in-depth insight. Therefore, incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) curves were calculated to assess the performance. Fragility curves at different limit states were then extracted and compared. Mean IDA curves demonstrate better behavior for a combined system, compared with conventional RC core wall systems. Collapse margin ratio for a RC core wall only system and RC core with enough BRBFs were almost 1.05 and 1.92 respectively. Therefore, it appears that using one RC core wall combined with enough BRBF core is an effective idea to achieve more confidence against tall building collapse and the results demonstrated the potential of the proposed system.
