At the same time, the mathematical culture has also been highly valued on a global scale. The mathematical culture is a part of college students' cultural quality, and then, what is the connection between the mathematical culture and mathematical core literacy? How to improve the mathematical core literacy of contemporary college students? This paper gives the corresponding answers to these two questions. By illustrating the concrete implementation of the course "Mathematical Culture" offered by Yanbian University, this paper discusses various measures for cultivating students' core qualities in Chinese universities. It must be useful and promote the research on mathematical core literacy for the educators in various countries.

Design discipline requires more specialized and sophisticated information literacy competencies necessary to effectively find and apply the information that students need for their teaming and the future independent designer than are outlined in general information literacy competencies. Therefore, The goals of this study is to identify specific information literacy competencies within the Design Discipline. This research analyzed design-specific core information literacy competencies through the literature analysis on the design goals & curriculum of four domestic universities and the NASAD standards & guidelines and verified those by Delphi Survey. The result showed that design discipline requires commonly 26 specific core competencies in seven broad categories and the these competencies are related to the time for information literacy Instruction. Also, The result analyzed that such majors in design as product design, visual design, need additionally more specialized and detailed competencies with specific focus and that design discipline requires commonly the information literacy competencies about general studies & fundamental ability.

This study investigates the effects of the operation of science activity program on scientific literacy focusing on science cultural literacy and core competencies for pre-service teachers. 255 pre-service teachers of K University participated, and the effects of the program were examined through a paired-sample t-test with one group pretest-posttest design for science cultural literacy. Only the post-test was conducted on core competency growth perception, and differences in growth perceptions by competency were compared using ANOVA. As a result of the study, the average of pre-service teachers was higher than the pre-test for science culture literacy, and this difference was statistically significant (p<.05). In the core competency growth perception, 70.6% of pre-service teachers reported growth in scientific communication ability, and as a result of the post-hoc test using LSD, it shows statistically significant growth compared to other competencies (p<.05). Through this, it was possible to confirm the educational value of the science activity program as a way to develop pre-service teachers' scientific literacy.

Under the education system which is shifting to smart circumstances the level of literacy competencies of pre-service teachers who carry out teaching and learning in the future will be drawn in this study. Because above all the role of inservice teachers is so important that smart education may be smoothly carried out and established, this study has been done for the purpose of establishing the understanding of smart literacy of pre-service teachers who carry out smart education in education field in the future and proposing what competencies be needed. To achieve this goal, first, examined the understanding of smart literacy of pre-service teachers on a basic research. Second, analyzed the competencies level of pre-service teachers on the basis of the index of core competencies for smart education. Third, proposed improvement plan for building up smart literacy core competencies of pre-service teachers. The subjects of this study were surveyed pre-service teachers in a college of education. On the grounds of study it is necessary that define a concept of smart literacy applicable to pre-service teachers and derive standard indexes of core competencies for smart education, also study proposed the requisite curriculum which is capable of fulfilling smart literacy core competencies and improvement plan for building up smart literacy core competencies which is able to reinforce field adaptability as smart education carried out in the high-tech learning circumstances like real education field.

This study examines the change in students' science attitude and the growth of their core competencies through science classes emphasizing digital literacy. To this end, we conducted a study on 116 first graders in C middle school in the C region, and entered a science class that emphasized digital literacy of 35 classes. First, as a result of examining the effect on science attitude, a statistically significant change (p<.05) was observed. The effect size for each subregion ranged from 0.67 to 1.52. Second, there were no differences in the overall frequency of growth perception according to the type of class that emphasized digital literacy. However, in the analysis of core competencies, Web-based classes did not show a large difference in frequency by core competencies, whereas high-tech classes were slightly different by core competencies. This is an implication for science education, and it is necessary to increase the utilization of science classes that emphasize digital literacy.
Objectives: Food literacy (FL) can be an important concept that embodies the nutritional capabilities of individuals. The purpose of this study was to introduce the definition and core elements of FL from previous literature, to summarize measurement tools and intervention programs with FL, and to suggest the direction of future research and programs to integrate the concept of FL. Methods: The literature review was conducted through PubMed and Google Scholar databases by combining the search term 'food literacy' with 'definition', 'measurement', 'questionnaire', 'intervention', and 'program'. Among the 94 papers primarily reviewed 31 manuscripts that suited the purpose of the study were used for analyses. Results: There is no consensus on the definition of FL that encompasses the multidimensional aspects of the concept. The definitions of FL were slightly different depending on the authors, and the interpretation of the core elements also varied. Based on the review, we propose a framework of FL that is in line with the current discussion among international researchers. This focuses on the core elements adapted from health literacy, namely functional, interactive, and critical FL. Specifically, we suggest some detailed elements for interactive and critical FL, which were often the subject of divergent views among researchers in previous literature. We found that most of the tools in the reviewed literature provided information on validity and reliability and were developed for a specific target population. Also, most of the tools were focused on functional FL. Similarly, most of the interventions targeted functional FL. Conclusions: This study reviewed the definition and core elements of FL, available measurement tools, and intervention programs using validated tools. We propose the development of tools with sound reliability and validity that encompass the three core elements of FL for different age groups. This will help to understand whether improving food literacy can translate into better nutritional intake and health status among individuals and communities.
This study analyzed the cases of online art museum education based on the core competency of Jenkins' new media literacy to supplement the limitations of online art museum education programs. The core competency of media education suggested by Jenkins can serve as a reference point for an online art museum content. For the case analysis, 4 museums were selected as the domestic art museum, and 4 as the overseas art museum. The results of analysis based on new media literacy are as follows. In the case of overseas art museums, content for mutual communication such as video conferencing and commenting at the bottom of the site page was constructed, but domestic online art museums lacked these elements. Therefore, there is a need to improve core competency of appropriation, networking, negotiation, distributed cognition, and collective intelligence by organizing communication content.

The purpose of this study is to develop conceptualization models of reading, information, ICT, and digital literacy through conceptual differences of these literacy by reviewing and defining the concepts of literacy as well as reading, information, ICT, and digital literacy. Computer literacy has emerged as a concept that explains the phenomenon of contemporary social, cultural, and information technology development, and since then, computer literacy has since changed to IT, ICT literacy, and digital literacy. As a result of the study, a conceptualization model of the reading, information, ICT, and digital literacy was developed. In this model, these literacy whose terms have changed according to the technological development of media, have been classified as medium-centered literacy. And reading and information literacy that focuses on the cognitive process of understanding, utilizing, and evaluating texts and information is categorized as process-oriented literacy. In the digital environment, reading and information literacy is a core competence to critically think and evaluate the texts that are on media, and further research is needed to reduce the reading and the information gap among readers.

The aims of this study are to review the changes and trends of information literacy standards in higher education in the U.S. and the U.K.; to examine British SCONUL's two information literacy standards which were announced in 1999 and in 2011 respectively; and to compare and analyze the two information literacy standards (i.e., Core Model and Research Lens) which were released by SCONUL in 2011. By employing the research methods of literature review and content analysis, this study tries to find the implications that may be used as a basic data when the country's relevant institutions plan to consider the information literacy standards in higher education in the near future.
