Characterization of instability in a-Si:H TFT LCD utilizing copper as electrodes

  • The hydrogenated amorphous silicon thin film transistor (a-Si:H TFT) with copper as source and drain electrode has been fabricated to obtain its transfer characteristics and stressed with positive and negative bias to investigate the instability variation comparing to conventional MoW-Al based TFT device. The results show that there is no copper diffusion into active layer of a-Si:H TFT, even during the thermal process. In addition, a 15-inch XGA a Si:H TFT LCD display utilizing Cu as gate electrodes has been developed.

  • The NO$_2$ GAS-detection characteristic of CuTBT (Copper-tetra-tert-butylphtha1ocyanine) LB films were investigated through a study of current-voltage (I-V) characteristics with a variation of number N of interdigital electrodes (N=1∼25). A concentration of 200ppm NO$_2$ gas was used. It was found that a conductance G increases monotonically as the number of interdigital electrode increases, and a sensitivity $\Delta$G ($\Delta$G=G$\_$gas//G$\_$air/) is at least higher than 50 and stable. As far as a sensitivity is concerned, the sensitivity when N=26 is greater than that when N=1 by 70 or so. It indicates that the number of interdigital electrodes affects the currents, sensitivity and stability.

  • 고밀도집적을 위한 구리기둥주석범프(CPTB)의 제작공정에 흔히 전기도금과 무전해도금이 적용된다. CPTB는 약 $100{\mu}m$ 정도의 피치를 갖도록 먼저 구리도금 층을 전착시킨 다음, 구리의 산화 억제를 위하여 구리기둥 주위에 주석을 입혀 제작한다. 이 과정에서 구리도금 층 두께를 균일하게 형성하는 일은 매우 민감하고 어렵지만 중요한 일이다. 이를 위하여 구리도금 전극 사이에 전류분포 제어를 위한 절연 막(절연게이트)을 형성하여 도금 층의 두께분포를 조절하는 실험을 하였다. 원통형 도금 조에서 중심부를 열어 전류를 흘려주고, 그 외 부분은 가장자리 끝까지 막고 전류를 차단하여 두께분포 변화를 확인하였다.

Comparison of Metal Transfer Behavior in Electrodes for Shielded Metal Arc Welding

  • Metal transfer behavior of three shielded metal arc welding electrodes, AWS El1018, E6013 and E6010, were investigated through the characterization of size distribution of droplets and measurement of arc voltage signals. Of the three electrodes, Ell018 electrode showed the largest droplet size with the smallest amount of spatter, while E6010 electrode showed the smallest droplet size with the largest amount of spatter. Even though Ell0l8 electrode showed a good agreement between the frequencies of voltage drop in FFT processed voltage signals and the transfer rate of droplets, E6013 and E6010 electrodes showed weaker correlation because of their dominant explosive transfer behavior. The type of cathode used and electrode baking time also influenced the metal transfer behavior. Compared to bead-on-plate welding using steel plate as a cathode, welding on a water-cooled copper pipe showed less short-circuiting and higher melting rate in all electrodes because of higher arc potential and/or anode drop. When baked for a long time, E6010 electrode showed much more stable arc with less short-circuiting and explosion due to the loss of gas formation ingredients.

대기압 글로우 방전의 구현 및 안정화에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Implementation and Stabilization of Atmospheric Pressure Glow Discharge)

  • Ionizers are essential in various areas of manufacturing industries to protect electrostatic hazards and to reduce inferior products. For ion sources used in the charge neutralizers, there are corona discharge, soft X-ray, ultraviolet and glow discharge. Glow discharge has lots of attractive properties, such as lower discharge sustaining voltage, no generation of ozone, and so on. In this paper, we did an experimental study to trace the mechanism and stabilization of atmospheric pressure glow discharge using the several size and shape of electrodes. As an experimental result, to sustain conditions of atmospheric pressure glow discharge is that discharge voltage is 360V, discharge current is 12mA, apply frequency is 1kHz between electrodes when positive electrode is molybdenum(Mo) and negative electrode is copper(Cu). We confirmed that the mechanism and stabilization of atmospheric glow discharge is deeply concerned with the shape and material of electrode for discharge. Especially, glow discharge in atmospheric pressure was well generated and sustained according with the physical properties used electrode materials, example melting point, thermal conductivity, and etc.

Chitosan-Cu-salen/Carbon Nano-Composite Based Electrode for the Enzyme-less Electrochemical Sensing of Hydrogen Peroxide

  • Cu-Salen complex was prepared and attached into chitosan (Cs) polymer backbone. Nanocomposite of the synthesized polymer was prepared with functionalized carbon nano-particles (Cs-Cu-sal/C) to modify the electrode surface. The surface morphology of (Cs-Cu-sal/C) nanocomposite film showed a homogeneous distribution of carbon nanoparticles within the polymeric matrix. The cyclic voltammogram of the modified electrode exhibited a redox behavior at -0.1 V vs. Ag/AgCl (3 M KCl) in 0.1 M PB (pH 7) and showed an excellent hydrogen peroxide reduction activity. The Cs-Cu-sal/C electrode displays a linear response from $5{\times}10^{-6}$ to $5{\times}10^{-4}M$, with a correlation coefficient of 0.993 and detection limit of $0.9{\mu}M$ (at S/N = 3). The sensitivity of the electrode was found to be $0.356{\mu}A\;{\mu}M^{-1}\;cm^{-2}$.

돔형 전극을 사용한 마그네슘 합금 저항 점용접의 전극 수명 평가 (Electrode Life Test of Resistance Spot Welding on Mg Alloy Using Dome Type Electrode)

  • Magnesium alloy is used on parts of aircraft and electronic equipment because of the highest specific strength among the common metal materials. Recently, studies about appling magnesium alloy sheet to automotive bodies are on the increase rapidly. For application to automotive bodies, researches about characteristics of resistance spot welding of magnesium alloy sheet are essential. Magnesium alloy has low boiling point, so getting sound bead shape is difficult when appling varies welding processes. Resistance spot welding is also particular about setting optimum welding conditions because of spatter generation, pores and cracks occurrence in nugget. And life of electrodes is very short because of alloying with copper that main material of electrodes. This requires frequent dressing and replacement of electrodes and decrease in productivity of resistance spot welding on magnesium alloy. Therefore in this study, for effective analysis of changes in tensile shear load and nugget size during electrode life test, evaluate detail characteristics of resistance spot welding on magnesium alloy sheet using dome type electrode.

  • On the overhead distribution lines, we generally use a copper rod as a grounding electrode. It is a economical metallic structure. Recently, many new electrodes have been developed and used in the distribution system of KEPCO. Before using new grounding electrode. we need to measure the performance of each electrode for comparative analysis. This report describes the characteristic test of the grounding electrodes used in KEPCO.

전극표면 연마 유니트를 이용한 전기화학적 COD측정용 센서의 개발 (Development of a COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand) Sensor Using an Electrode-surface Grinding Unit)

  • 수질의 빠르고 정확한 COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand)의 측정을 위하여 전극표면 연마장치가 부착된 전기화학적 측정 센서시스템을 연구하였다. 수질 내 유기물에 대한 Cu의 산화작용이 COD 측정의 기본원리로 이용되었으며, 3전극계를 적용한 전기화학 셀을 COD 측정시스템에 적용하였다. 장시간의 COD 측정에 대비하여, Cu전극의 내구성과 안정성을 유지시키기 위해 회전되는 연마석을 이용한 자동연마장치를 부착하였다. 유기물을 함유한 인공시료 및 실제 현장시료를 이용하여 COD 변화에 대한 측정가능성을 실험하였고, $COD_{Mn}$ 수치와 COD 측정용 센서를 이용하여 측정한 Coulombic yield와의 사이에 높은 상관관계($r^2=0.93$)를 가지며 이 측정값을 EOD(electrochemical oxygen demand)로 표현할 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 측정 결과를 토대로 이 시스템이 폐수처리장 및 하수에 연속 COD 측정 장치로 적용할 수 있는 가능성이 있을 것으로 확인하였다.
