We have investigated the half-metallicity and magnetism for the Heusler ferromagnet $Co_2$ZrSi interfaced with semiconductor ZnTe along the (001) plane by using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FLAPW) method. We considered low types of possible interfaces: ZrSi/Zn, ZrSi/Te, Co/Zn, and Co/Te, respectively. From the calculated density of states, it was found that the half-metallicity was lost at all the interfaces, however for the Co/Te system the value of minority spin density of states was close to zero at the Fermi level. These facts are due to the interface states, appeared in the minority spin gap in bulk $Co_2$ZrSi, caused by the changes of the coordination and symmetry and the hybridizations between the interface atoms. At the Co/Te interface, the magnetic moments of Co atoms are 0.68 and $0.78{\mu}_B$ for the "bridge" and "antibridge" sites, respectively, which are much reduced with respect to that ($1.15{\mu}_B$) of the bulk $Co_2$ZrSi. In the case of Co/Zn, Co atoms at the "bridge" and "antibridge" sites have magnetic moments of 1.16 and $0.93{\mu}_B$, respectively, which are almost same or slightly decreased compared to that of the bulk $Co_2$ZrSi. On the other hand, for the ZrSi/Zn and ZrSi/Te systems, the magnetic moments of Co atoms at the sub-interface layers are in the range of $1.13{\sim}1.30\;{\mu}_B$, which are almost same or slightly increased than that of the bulk $Co_2$ZrSi.

Background: Forest edges create distinctive ecological space as adjacent constituents, which distinguish between different ecosystems or land use types. These edges are made by anthropogenic or natural disturbance and affects both abiotic and biotic factors gradually. This study was carried out to assess edge effects on disturbed landscape at the pine-dominated clear-cut area in a genetic resources reserve in Uljin-gun, eastern Korea. This study aims to estimate the distance of edge influence by analyzing changes of abiotic and biotic factors along the distance from forest edge. Further, we recommend forest management strategy for sustaining healthy forest landscapes by reducing effects of deforestation. Results: Distance of edge effect based on the abiotic factors varied from 8.2 to 33.0 m. The distances were the longest in $Mg^{2+}$ content and total nitrogen, $K^+$, $Ca^{2+}$ contents, canopy openness, light intensity, air humidity, $Na^+$ content, and soil temperature followed. The result based on biotic factors varied from 6.8 to 29.5 m, coverage of tree species in the herb layer showed the longest distance and coverage of shrub plant in the herb layer, evenness, species diversity, total coverage of herb layer, and species richness followed. As the result of calculation of edge effect by synthesizing 26 factors measured in this study, the effect was shown from 11.0 m of the forest interior to 22.4 m of the open space. In the result of stand ordination, Rhododendron mucronulatum, R. schlippenbachii, and Fraxinus sieboldiana dominated arrangement of forest interior sites and Quercus mongolica, Vitis amurensis, and Rubus crataegifolius dominated spatial distribution of the open area plots. Conclusions: Forest interior habitat lies within the influence of both abiotic and biotic edge effects. Therefore, we need a forest management strategy to sustain the stability of the plant and further animal communities that depend on its stable conditions. For protecting forest interior, we recommend selective logging as a harvesting method for minimizing edge effects by anthropogenic disturbance. In fact, it was known that selective logging contributes to control light availability and wind regime, which are key factors affecting microclimate. In addition, ecological restoration applying protective planting for the remaining forest in the clear-cut area could contribute to prevent continuous disturbance in forest interior.
It is important for designers to be supported with their decision-making on colours which is often based on personal distinction rather than logical dialogue that may lead to confusion within communicating with others. To help these problems and to gain productivity, we would like to propose a way to define colour grouping method. In other words, the purpose of this study is to help to improve the communication and productivity within the design and designers. The grouping was based and inspired by from the studies of Kobayashi, Hideaki Chijiawa, Allis Westgate and Martha Gill. The study of grouping is based on the "tones" of each group, as they seem to reflect a designer s sentimentalism of chosen colours the best. Each of these groups will be named Bright , Pastel ,Deep and Neutral The general concept of each groups are: - Bright: high quality of pixels of primary colour - Pastel: primary colour with white - - Deep: Primary colour with gray or black - Neutral: colours that does not include any of above Each of the colour group has been allocated into Si-Hwa Jung's colour charts and colour prism to visualize the relationships between the colour groups. These four groups and the colours included in them will be broken down to smaller groups in order to make colour palette. This would break the barrier and result in using colours in groups as well as crossover coordination. This study would result in new ways of using colurs for designers designers

Abstract The typical distribution systems have the power flow from distribution substations (sources) to customers (load) only as one direction. However, in the case where distributed generations (DG) such as PV system and wind power systems are connected to distribution systems, the DG output variations to distribution systems, so called reverse power flow, may cause the bi-directional power flow. So, the reverse power flow has severe impacts on typical power system, for example power quality problems, protection coordination problems, and so on. Especially, protection devices (sectionalizer) in primary feeder of distribution system interconnected with distributed generations may cause problems of malfunction, and then many customers could have problems like an interruption. So, this paper presents the bi-directional operation algorithm of protection devices to overcome the problems like mal-function. And, also this paper shows the effectiveness of proposed method by using both PSCAD/EMTDC software and test facility of protection devices to simulate the field distribution systems.

The prototype of color fitters for the liquid crystal displays (LCD) using cholesteric liquid crystal monomers was produced. Cholesteric liquid crystal is characterized by the unique optical features of selective reflection, which is due to the helical twisting structures of LCs comparable to the wavelength of the incident light under certain conditions of substrate treatment. In the results of the experiment, cholesteric films for red, green, and blue light reflections respectively were produced and the viewing angle dependence of these films were investigated. Reflective light of red and green films shifted to shorter wavelength regions as viewing angle becomes greater, but blue one shifted very little. Periodic micrometer-sized half-spherical photoresist formed by thermal reflow method after photo-lithography was patterned on glass substrates. The viewing angle dependence of reflective light colors of red, green, and blue films on the patterned substrates compared with those on no patterned substrates was investigated. We could confirm the dependences were much smaller on the patterned substrates by bare eyes and Lab-color coordination methods qualitatively.

Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is the serious and fatal drug-associated adverse effect, but its incidence is very low and individual variation in severity is substantial. Acetaminophen (APAP)-induced liver injury accounts for >50% of reported DILI cases but little is known for the cause of individual variations in the severity. Intrinsic genetic variation is considered a key element but the identity of the genes was not well-established. Here, pre-biopsy method and microarray technique was applied to uncover the key genes for APAP-induced liver injury in mice, and a cause and effect experiment employing quantitative real-time PCR was conducted to confirm the correlation between the uncovered genes and APAP-induced hepatotoxicity. We identified the innately and differentially expressed genes of mice susceptible to APAP-induced hepatotoxicity in the pre-biopsied liver tissue before APAP treatment through microarray analysis of the global gene expression profiles (Affymetrix $GeneChip^{(R)}$ Mouse Gene 1.0 ST for 28,853 genes). Expression of 16 genes including Gdap10, Lpl, Gabra3 and Ccrn4l were significantly different (t-test: FDR <10%) more than 1.5 fold in the susceptible animals than resistant. To confirm the association with the susceptibility to APAP-induced hepatotoxicity, another set of animals were measured for the expression level of selected 4 genes (higher two and lower two genes) in the liver pre-biopsy and their sensitivity to APAP-induced hepatotoxicity was evaluated by post hoc. Notably, the expressions of Gabra3 and Lpl were significantly correlated with the severity of liver injury (p<0.05) demonstrating that these genes may be linked to the susceptibility to APAP-induced hepatotoxicity.
The electronic structures, magnetism, and half-metallicity of the full-Heusler $Co_2TiSn$(001) surfaces have been investigated by using the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane wave method within the generalized gradient approximation. We have considered both of the Co atoms terminated(Co-term) and the TiSn atoms terminated(TiSn-term) surfaces. From the calculated density of states, we found that the half-metallicity was destroyed at the surface of the Co-term, while the half-metallicity was retained at the TiSn-term. For the surface of the Co-term, due to the reduced coordination number the occupied minority d-states were shifted to high energy regions and that cross the Fermi level, thus destroy the surface half-metallicity. On the other hand the surface states at the surface of the TiSn-term were located just below the Fermi level, which reduces the minority spin-gap with respect to that of the center layer. The calculated magnetic moment of the surface Co atom for the Co-term was increased by 10 % to 1.16 ${\mu}_B$ with respect to that of the inner-layers, while the magnetic moment of the subsurface Co atom in the TiSn-term has almost same value of the innerlayers(1.03 ${\mu}_B$).
The purpose of this case study was to examine whether an interactive music-making intervention using GarageBand was applicable to improve the social communication skills of school-age children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Two children with ASD (both male, ages = 8 and 11 yrs.) participated in this study. The interactive music-making intervention included three stages: 1) musical imitation, 2) musical expression and coordination, and 3) musical interaction. Each session lasted 40 minutes, and sessions took place twice a week over 4 weeks. The participants' social communication behaviors were observed and analyzed in terms of exchanging ideas with each other. Engagement in interactive behaviors (e.g., turn-taking, imitating or reflecting the investigator's music, and creating one's own music using the motive from the investigator) during music making was also analyzed. During the sessions, increases in the attempts to express their opinions on music making processes and requests for help for the process were observed. Engagement in turn-taking form of interactive playing and reflecting the musical motive from a partner (i.e., investigator) were also improved. The Social Responsiveness Scale-2 (SRS-2) ratings indicated negative social behaviors decreased after intervention in both participants. The findings of this study suggest that interactive music-making activities using GarageBand can be an effective method in clinical practice to improve social communication skills for school-aged children with ASD.
