Modification of an Analysis Algorithm for DC Power Systems Considering Scalable Topologies

  • Direct current(DC) systems have recently attracted attention due to the increase in DC loads and distributed generations, such as renewable energy sources. Among these technologies, there has been much research into DC distribution systems or DC microgrids. Within this body of research, the main topics have been about optimum control and operation methods in terms of improving power efficiency. When DC systems are controlled and operated using power electronic devices such as converters, it is necessary to design and analyze them by considering the power electronics sections. For this reason, we propose a scalable DC system analysis algorithm, which considers various system configurations depending on the operating mode and location of the converter. The algorithm consists of power flow fault current calculations, and the results of the algorithm can be used for designing DC systems. The algorithm is implemented using MATLAB with defined input and output data. The verification of the algorithm is mainly performed using ETAP software, and the accuracy of the algorithm analysis can be confirmed through the results.

크로스 스펙트럼 기법을 이용한 저레벨 소음의 측정 (Measurement of low level sound noise using cross spectrum method)

  • 실내 소음의 정확한 측정은 환경소음 관리상에 요구되어 지는 것이나 측정계 자체의 잡음으로 인하여 소음원이 가지는 원래의 잡음이 항상 영향을 받게되는 문제가 있다. 본 연구에서는 새로운 소음레벨 측정기술로서 크로스 스펙트럼법을 사용하여 측정된 신호로부터 측정계가 가지는 잡음을 효과적으로 제거하는 방법을 제안하였다. 두 개의 측정용 마이크로폰으로부터 받아들인 신호는 각각의 전치 증폭기를 통하여 A/D 변환기에 의해 디지털 신호화하여 크로스 스펙트럼을 이 디지털화 된 신호로부터 계산하고 측정계가 가지는 잡음과 소음 원의 잡음은 서로 무상관이므로 우리가 원하는 정확한 소음레벨을 측정할 수 있는 것이다. 제안된 기술의 성과는 염가의 상용 마이크로폰으로도 사용할 수 있었기 때문에 실험적으로 그 유효성과 경제성이 입증되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs)의 배터리 충전을 위해 필요한 추가적인 충전기 없이, 구동모터의 인덕턴스와 구동 드라이버인 3상 인버터를 이용하는 배터리 충전 기법들을 소개한다. 모터의 코일을 승압용 에너지 저장장치로 사용하고 인버터 스위치 제어를 통해 부스트 컨버터로 동작되도록 하여 추가적인 충전기를 제거함으로써, 충전장치가 차지하는 부피, 무게 및 단가를 저감할 수 있다. PHEVs의 시스템 구조와 제어기 구성에 따라 분류된 다양한 배터리 충전 기법들을 비교분석하고 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 검증한다.

  • 최근 개발 및 출시되고 있는 전기자동차(EV) 충전시스템은 3상 AC전원을 입력받아 입력역률개선과 고효율 AC/DC변환을 위한 Interleaved PFC컨버터, Bridgeless PFC컨버터, 3-Level 비엔나정류기(VIENNEA Rectifier) 등의 Topology가 사용되고 있으며, 변환된 DC전압을 입력받아 배터리를 충전하기 위한 절연된 고주파 DC/DC컨버터로 LLC 공진컨버터, 3레벨 컨버터 등이 사용되어 사이즈저감 및 경량화를 꾀하고 있다. 본 논문은 기존 입력역률 개선을 위한 PFC 컨버터와 배터리 충전을 위한 절연형 DC/DC 컨버터 2단으로 구성되어진 충전시스템 대신에 사이즈저감 및 효율개선 그리고 넓은 범위의 출력전압제어(200Vdc~430Vdc)에 대응 할 수 있도록 '단일전력단 3레벨 하이브리드 AC/DC 컨버터'를 제안하였고, 2kW 시제품을 제작하여 실험을 통해 적용 가능성을 입증하였다.

  • This paper presents a 1.6[kW]class single phase high power factor(HPF) pulse width modulation(PWM) boost rectifier featuring soft commutation of the active switches at zero current. It incorporates the most desirable properties of conventional PWM and soft switching resonant techniques. The input current shaping is achieved with average current mode control and continuous inductor current mode. This new PWM converter provides zero current turn on and turn off of the active switches, and it is suitable for high power applications employing insulated gate bipolar transistors(IGBT'S). The principle of operation, the theoretical analysis, a design example, and experimental results from laboratory prototype rated at 1.6[kW] with 400[Vdc] output voltage are presented. The measured efficiency and the power factor were 96.2[%] and 0.99[%], respectively, with an input current Total Harmonic Distortion(THD) equal to 3.94[%], for an input voltage with THD equal to 3.8[%], at rated load.

  • Currently high power Light Emitting Diode (LED) is in the limelight due to its characteristics of long durability, low maintenance costs, and high efficiency. Furthermore, it does not emit pollutants or poisonous gases and is a light source not using mercury, so it holds a high status in eco-friendly terms as well. In this paper, we studied a two-stage LED power drive circuit that can compensate only voltage regulation through LED output current, in order to improve efficiency of LED drive with constant current control in accordance with changes in temperature. The proposed LED drive has an advantage of reducing LED drive's voltage losses by controlling only voltage change of input power, compared with an existing circuit which controls input voltage. The suggested non-insulation compensating circuit for voltage change was verified to have improved efficiency relative to a LED drive using existing DC/DC converter.

유무선 네트워크기반 지하철역사 공기질 제어의 위험성 평가 (Assessment of Risk in Wireless-Wired Network Based Control of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) in Subway Stations)

  • With increasing number of citizen using subway stations everyday, safety, health and comfort of passengers and occupants became an important social issue. Considering the fact that various physical variables and pollutants are related to indoor air quality (IAQ) which may cause health problem, IAQ need to be closely monitored and controlled in multiple locations in subway stations. This study is a continuation of the previous studies and delay induced in wireless-wired network is experimentally evaluated and the risk involved is assessed. In doing that, a key parameter is identified to be the network delay in different network media. Application of information-theoretic measure to assess the risk in network delay is then discussed. The idea is based on the general principles of engineering design and their applications to quantification of uncertainty in network delay. Experimental results show that more risk is involved in wireless data communication. Efficient and fast conversion of transmission data in both LonWorks/IP server and ZL converter is also noted.

  • 일반적으로 비상시 전원으로 디젤발전기를 가장 많이 사용하고 있으며, 하이브리드 전원소스(상용전원, 축전지, 연료전지, 태양전지 등)를 사용하여 부하에 안정적인 전력을 공급하기 위한 방법들이 연구되어지고 있다. 최근 비상시 전원으로 가장 많이 사용하고 있는 디젤발전기의 역할이 아주 중요하게 여겨지며, 운영부하에 따라서도 유연하게 동작되어야 하고, 신뢰성도 확보되어야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서 부하 변동에 따른 최대전력 추종제어 기능이 가능하고, 고조파 억제 기능 및 안정주파수 유지기능이 가능하도록 부하 변동에 따른 디젤발전기의 제어기에 대하여 논하고자 한다.

  • The four-leg Voltage Source Converter(VSC) can use the DC link voltage effectively by the 3-D SVPWM method. Hence the DC battery voltage can be reduced by $15\%$ in comparison to that of the conventional line-interactive UPS system. In this paper a novel line interactive Uninterruptible Power Supply(UPS) using the two four-leg VSCs is proposed. One VSC is in parallel with the ac link reactor of the power source side, and the other is in series with the load. The parallel four-leg voltage source inverter controls the three-phase line voltage independently in order to control the line reactor current indirectly. It eliminates the neutral line current and the active ripple power of the source side using the pqr theory so that unity power factor and the sinusoidal source current can be achieved even though both the source and the load voltages have zero sequence components. The series four-leg voltage source inverter compensates the line voltage and allows it to be balanced and harmonic-free. Both of the parallel and series four-leg voltage source inverters always act as independently controllable voltage sources, so that the three-phase output voltage shows a seamless transition to the backup mode. The feasibility of the proposed UPS system has been investigated and verified through computer simulations results.

Real-Time Power Electronics Remote Wiring and Measurement Laboratory (PermLAB) Using 3-D Matrix Switching Algorithms

  • This paper presents a new architecture, called "Power Electronics Remote Wiring and Measurement Laboratory (PermLAB)", that translates a common gateway interface (CGI) string from a remote web user to a web server connected to a 3-dimension switching matrix board, can be used to switch on and off, and to control a cluster of instruments and components. PermLAB addresses real-time connection, switching, and data acquisition over the Internet instead of using simulated data. A software procedure uses a signature system to identify each instrument and component in a complex system. The Web-server application is developed in HTML, JavaScript and Java, and in C language for the CGI interface, which resides in a controller portion of LabVIEW. The LabVIEW software fully integrates the Web sever, LabVIEW data acquisition boards and controllers, and the 3-dimensional switching matrix board. The paper will analyze a half-wave rectifier (AC - DC converter) circuit connected over the Internet using the PermLAB. PermLAB allows students to obtain real data by real-time wiring of real circuits in the laboratory using a "virtual breadboard" on the Web. The software for the Web-based 3-dimensional system is flexible, portable, can be integrated into many laboratory applications or expanded, and easily accessible worldwide.
