  • In this study, we developed a STEAM program based on digital astronomical and space resources and applied it to 167 randomly selected elementary school students to examine the effectiveness of the STEAM program in enhancing creative problem solving skills. The results of this study are as follows: first, the statistical analysis of pre-test and post-test scores for creative problem-solving skills related to the STEAM program showed significant results (p<.05). This suggests that the STEAM program contributed to improving creative problem-solving skills through the procedural process involved in generating ideas and convergent thinking during the digital problem-solving. Second, the paired sample t-test based on the pre-test and post-test of the STEAM attitude test also showed significant results (p<.05). Analyzing digital materials and presenting pixel art projects positively influenced STEAM attitudes in terms of interest, communication, and usefulness. This underscores the need for developing integrative education programs utilizing advanced technologies in the future. Third, in the class satisfaction test conducted after the application of the STEAM program, the satisfaction factor scored an average of 3.55, interest scored 3.35, and overall class difficulty scored 3.46. The main difference from traditional classes was the focus on 'acquisition of future career information.' However, given the slight decrease in interest during the digital transformation and interpretation process, it is recommended that future classes allocate sufficient time for experiential activities. To generalize the developed program, future studies should consider various school levels, implementation periods, and difficulty levels.

  • As cyber threats increase in the defense sector, the security of weapon system software is becoming increasingly important. Currently, most of the embedded software installed in domestic weapon systems operates based on foreign real-time operating systems(RTOS) that have no security. As a result, the localization and security enhancement of embedded software for weapon systems have emerged as urgent tasks. This study aims to propose the application and development strategies of secure RTOS for weapon systems. To this end, we examined the technological trends of domestic and foreign RTOS and secure RTOS, and analyzed the problems of current embedded software in weapon systems. The results revealed major issues such as low localization, vulnerability to cyber attacks, difficulty in maintenance, increased costs, and loss of opportunities for accumulating technological capabilities. An investigation of the current status of embedded software applied to existing weapon systems found that embedded SW are in operation across all fields, including maneuver, firepower, protection, command and control, communication, naval vessels, and aircraft. Among them, 99% rely on foreign RTOS such as VxWorks. A review of the core functions and applicability of secure RTOS to weapon systems suggests that it can be applied to key areas requiring real-time performance and security, such as fire control, navigation devices, and flight control in existing and future weapon systems. However, ensuring performance and reliability, securing verification and compatibility, and systematic government support were raised as prerequisites.

  • Chatbots are becoming increasingly popular as interactive communication tools that provide not only convenience but also a friendly and humanized experience. Due to the interactive nature of chatbots, they can exchange information with users to perform various tasks, and users sometimes intentionally provide inaccurate information. Considering social presence of conversational agents, perceived risk of providing personal information, and trust in algorithms as key influencing factors, this study explores the effects of those factors on the intention to provide inaccurate information in the context of online dating services and examine whether these effects vary across types of conversational agents. We conducted an analysis of structural equation model using data collected from Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk). The analysis results showed significant relationships between factors related to the intention to provide inaccurate information and empirically confirmed that those relationships vary by types of conversational agents. Out findings have academic implications for the behavior of providing inaccurate information in online environments and practical implications for designing chatbots to reduce such intentions. We also discuss the ethical implications of the consequences of inaccurate information online.

  • The sonar technology based on marine biological sounds can be utilized in various fields, such as underwater covert target detection and communication. To develop sonar technology based on marine biological sounds, it is essential to first conduct research on the acoustic characteristics of the target marine species. Based on the analyzed data, research on signal reproduction algorithms should be carried out. In this study, we conducted research on the acoustic characteristics analysis and signal reproduction algorithms for the brown croaker, one of the species mainly inhabiting the southwestern coast of the Korean Peninsula. From the brown croaker sounds measured for approximately 100 min in a land-based tank, we analyzed the signal length, number of pulses, interval between pulses, peak frequency, and -3 dB bandwidth. Based on these acoustic characteristics, various brown croaker sounds were reproduced using a combination of wavelets and sinusoids. We performed similarity analysis with the actual measured brown croaker sounds by obtaining the maximum value of the normalized 2D cross-correlation in the spectrogram.

  • The Energy Storage System stores electricity for later use. This system can store electricity from legacy electric power systems or renewable energy systems into a battery device when demand is low. When there is high electricity demand, it uses the electricity previously stored and enables efficient energy usage and stable operation of the electric power system. It increases the energy usage efficiency, stabilizes the power supply system, and increases the utilization of renewable energy. The recent increase in the global interest for efficient energy consumption has increased the need for an energy storage system that can satisfy both the consumers' demand for stable power supply and the suppliers' demand for power demand normalization. In general, an energy storage system consists of a Power Conditioning System, a Battery Management System, a battery cell and peripheral devices. The specifications of the subsystems that form the energy storage system are manufacturer dependent. Since the core component interfaces are not standardized, there are difficulties in forming and operating the energy storage system. In this paper, the design of the profile structure for energy storage system and realization of private profiling system for energy storage system is presented. The profiling system accommodates diverse component settings that are manufacturer dependent and information needed for effective operation. The settings and operation information of various PCSs, BMSs, battery cells, and other peripheral device are analyzed to define profile specification and structure. A profile adapter software that can be applied to energy storage system is designed and implemented. The profiles for energy storage system generated by the profile authoring tool consist of a settings profile and operation profile. Setting profile consists of configuration information for energy device what composes energy saving system. To be more specific, setting profile has three parts of category as information for electric control module, sub system, and interface for communication between electric devices. Operation profile includes information in relation to the method in which controls Energy Storage system. The profiles are based on standard XML specification to accommodate future extensions. The profile system has been verified by applying it to an energy storage system and testing charge and discharge operations.
