보존력(保存力) 및 비보존력(非保存力)을 받는 평면(平面)뼈대 구조물(構造物)의 기하적(幾何的) 비선형(非線形) 해석(解析) (Geometric Non-linear Analysis of Plane Frame Structures subjected to Conservative and Non-conservative Forces)

  • 보존력(保存力) 및 비보존력(非保存力)을 받는 평면(平面) 뼈대 구조물(構造物)의 기하적(幾何的) 비선형(非線形) 거동(擧動)을 파악하기 위하여 기존의 하중증분법(荷重增分法)과 변위증분법(變位增分法)을 효율적으로 결합시킨 기하적(幾何的)인 비선형(非線形) 유한요소법(有限要素法)을 제시한다. 본(本) 논문(論文)에서 제안한 알고리즘은 보존력(保存力)뿐만 아니라 비보존력(非保存力)을 받는 경우에도 평면(平面) 뼈대의 Snap-Through, Turning-Back과 같은 강한 비선형(非線形) 거동(擧動)을 추적할 수 있다. 여러가지 예제(例題)들을 통하여 다른 문헌(文獻)들의 결과(結果)와 본(本) 연구(硏究)에 의한 결과(結果)를 비교 분석하므로써 제시된 이론(理論)의 정당성(正當性)을 입증(立證)한다.

Surface energy assisted gecko-inspired dry adhesives

  • We reported the direct effect of intrinsic surface energy of dry adhesive material to the Van der Waals and capillary forces contributions of the total adhesion force in an artificial gecko-inspired adhesion system. To mimic the gecko foot we fabricated tilted nanohairy structures using both lithography and ion beam treatment. The nanohairy structures were replicated from Si wafer mold using UV curable polymeric materials. The control of nanohairs slanting angles was based on the uniform linear argon ion irradiation to the nanohairy polymeric surface. The surface energy was studied utilizing subsequent conventional oxygen ion treatment on the nanohairy structures which resulted in gradient surface energy. Our shear adhesion test results were found in good agreement with the accepted Van der Waals and capillary forces theory in the gecko adhesion system. Surface energy would give a direct impact to the effective Hamaker constant in Van der Waals force and the filling angle (${\varphi}$) of water meniscus in capillary force contributions of gecko inspired adhesion system. With the increasing surface energy, the effective Hamaker constant also increased but the filling angle decreased, resulting in a competition between the two forces. Using a simple mathematical model, we compared our experimental results to show the quantitative contributions of Van der Waals and capillary forces in a single adhesion system on both hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces. We found that the Van der Waals force contributes about 82.75% and 89.97% to the total adhesion force on hydrophilic and hydrophobic test surfaces, respectively, while the remaining contribution was occupied by capillary force. We also showed that it is possible to design ultrahigh dry adhesive with adhesion strength of more than 10 times higher than apparent gecko adhesion force by controlling the surface energy and the slanting angle induced-contact line of dry adhesive the materials.

  • 조류를 고려한 조종운동방정식을 정립한 후 선박의 운동변수 뿐만 아니라 외력 및 조류의 방향과 속도도 상태변수로 설정하여 비선형 상태방정식과 측정방정식을 표현하였다. 여기서 외력은 3차의 Gauss-Markov 프로세스로 표시하고, 조류의 방향과 속도는 일정하다고 가정하였다. 상태 추정을 위하여 확장 Kalman-Bucy 필터와 고정간격 스무더를 이용하였다. 기존의 Hwang은 실선 시운전 계측값을 이용하여 동유체력미계수 및 조류의 영향을 동시에 확장 Kalman 필터를 이용하여 추정하였으므로 매개변수의 개수가 상당히 많아지는 반면 모델링 전 추정기법을 사용하면 각각의 동유체력미계수를 추정하는 대신에 3방향의 외력과 조류 변수만을 추정한다. 측정잡음이 포함된 시뮬레이션 측정값을 적용하여 조류 변수를 추정하는 경우 실제값이 잘 추정되는 것을 확인하였다.

Nonlinear interaction behaviour of plane frame-layered soil system subjected to seismic loading

  • The foundation of a tall building frame resting on settable soil mass undergoes differential settlements which alter the forces in the structural members significantly. For tall buildings it is essential to consider seismic forces in analysis. The building frame, foundation and soil mass are considered to act as single integral compatible structural unit. The stress-strain characteristics of the supporting soil play a vital role in the interaction analysis. The resulting differential settlements of the soil mass are responsible for the redistribution of forces in the superstructure. In the present work, the nonlinear interaction analysis of a two-bay ten-storey plane building frame- layered soil system under seismic loading has been carried out using the coupled finite-infinite elements. The frame has been considered to act in linear elastic manner while the soil mass to act as nonlinear elastic manner. The subsoil in reality exists in layered formation and consists of various soil layers having different properties. Each individual soil layer in reality can be considered to behave in nonlinear manner. The nonlinear layered system as a whole will undergo differential settlements. Thus, it becomes essential to study the structural behaviour of a structure resting on such nonlinear composite layered soil system. The nonlinear constitutive hyperbolic soil model available in the literature is adopted to model the nonlinear behaviour of the soil mass. The structural behaviour of the interaction system is investigated as the shear forces and bending moments in superstructure get significantly altered due to differential settlements of the soil mass.

가상축력을 이용한 좌굴해석 및 HSB800 강재를 적용한 사장교에 대한 적용성 분석 (Buckling Analysis using Fictitious Axial Forces and Its Application to Cable-Stayed Bridges with HSB800 Steel)

  • 사장교의 부재별 임계좌굴하중 산정에는 일반적으로 시스템 좌굴해석이 사용된다. 그러나 기존의 시스템 좌굴해석은 압축력이 미소한 부재에 대하여 과도하게 긴 유효좌굴길이를 산정하는 문제점을 내포하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 가상축력을 이용하여 강사장교 부재의 유효좌굴길이를 합리적으로 결정할 수 있는 좌굴해석 방법을 제안하였다. 또한, 수정된 유효접선탄성계수를 이용한 개선된 비탄성 좌굴해석방법을 제시하였다. 제안방법을 예제 사장교 모델에 적용하여 해석결과를 기존의 좌굴해석 방법과 비교 검증하였다. 검증결과, 제안된 방법은 강사장교 거더와 주탑의 유효좌굴길이를 합리적으로 예측할 수 있었다. 그리고 거더와 주탑에 일반강재 대신 HSB800 강재를 적용하였을 경우, 가상축력을 고려하지 않은 제안된 비탄성 좌굴해석에서는 유효좌굴길이가 축력이 작은 부분에서 약간 감소하였으나, 가상축력을 적용한 제안된 비탄성 좌굴해석에서는 유효좌굴길이의 변화가 거의 나타나지 않았다.

  • A Simultaneous optimal design of structural and control system of a semi-active suspension is applied on a helf-car model in this paper. Suspension stiffnesses and dampings are selected as structural design parameters and damping forces of variable dampers as controller parameters. Sence this optimization problem is of large discontinuous space, conventional exhaustive methods are not enough. So we here try out an approach using Genetic Algorithm for our problem. Through numerical simulation work, the performance of the simultaneously optimized system was tested and showed meaningful improvement over the partially optimized ones.

  • We study how to design conventional feedback controllers to drive chaotic trajectories of the well-known systems to their equilibrium points or any of their inherent periodic orbits. The well-known chaotic systems are Heon map and Duffing's equation, which are used as illustrative examples. The proposed feedback controller forces the chaotic trajectory to the stable manifold as OGY method does. Simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

  • This paper has been demonstrated to be essential to successful telemanipulator control when the communication delay between master arms in the operator control station and telemanipulators in the remote site. This paper includes the human dynamics to generate a control command, the monitoring force feedback in order to robust under short time delays and the controller not to requre the derivative of interaction forces. Simulation results suggest that, the proposed control system should be superior to conventional systems in terms of performance and robustness under short time delays.

  • A new grindignwheel was developed for the high performance gfinding of difficult-to-grind materials. Te grinding performance (such as grinding forces, grinding ratio, and surface roughness of ground surface) of the newly developed wheel was evaluated through experiments. Experimental results show that the performance of the newly developed wheel is superior to conventional alumina wheel and comparable to the S-G wheel.

  • There are many advantages of the Magnetic Bearing system, compared with conventional contacting bearing systems. Since the spindle in the Magnetic Bearing system is levitated by electro-magnetic forces and rotates without mechanical friction, it can run without lubrication. So, it can run in the extreme circumstances, e.g. a vacuum condition in the space.
